I know many of you naysayers out there were betting that I wouldn’t get to a report on the Standup conference in Newark New Jersey before the end of the month. Well, I worked extra hard to make sure you lost the bet.

Before I go on, I must commend Tim Butler for making the entire event possible. Most, if not all of the cost of the event came right out of his pocket. And he did it with a smile and a welcoming attitude (click here) .

The jet I used to get to the conference is pictured above. Pay no attention to the markings on the tail. It’s purely coincidental that Continental Airlines has a symbol that is so similar to my own. I bought a used stair system and I never got around to removing Continental’s logo.

I actually got to Newark on Thursday, 29 November. Once I got to the hotel, I connected with Saiko Woods and his wife. The three of us, using a van graciously supplied by Tim, drove to the Standup radio studio and participated in the broadcast.

The next day, several of us ended up in the hotel restaurant for lunch and coffee. While there, we were joined by Matthew, a fairly recent escapee (a refugee if you will) from Fast Eddie’s church. Here’s a photo of the gathering. Matthew is on the left, then it’s Shawn Scott, Tyris Horton and Saiko Woods, one of the speakers at the conference. Saiko is also an assistant pastor for a church in Houston.

The conference started on time that evening. Sean did a presentation of the fear of God, and I have to say it was awful. Instead of making me feel good about myself, Sean’s presentation encouraged me to examine myself, my behavior, my attitudes and commitments. He never promised me a breakthrough of any kind. At the break I walked out of there feeling as though I had to be holy just because God is holy.

Saiko gave an excellent presentation on the sovereignty of God. I believe one of the best remedies for the Word of Faith crap out there is a strong, true teaching on the sovereignty of God.

The next day, John Coleman out of California () presented a lecture on the Diaprax. This sounds like a very boring topic, but you have to understand, the Diaprax is at the heart of the methods used to promote the heresies and promote the pimpings that we see in the mega-churches.

I spoke with many of the people attending the conference. One of the interesting aspects of the people is that most of them were escapees from some of the very churches I discuss on the site.

Unfortunately, the fellow who took the photo wasn’t very good at using a camera. He ended up cutting off over half my face.

I have to say that I was (if you tell anyone I said this I’ll deny it) really blessed by what I saw and what I heard from the people who attended. I have to admit that sometimes I feel like I’m spitting into the wind. They made it clear that I am making at least a small difference with Pulpit-Pimps.

We’ve commented a few times about “The Essentials.” Some have written in and said the very idea of essentials is something the Body disagrees on. And I have to admit that this is a true statement. One site (The Apologetics Information Ministry ) says there are five. Then it lists Cardinal doctrine, tertiary doctrine, and peripherals. Another ministry says there are ten essential doctrines of the faith . They run from the the inerrancy of Scripture to Sin. Still a third lists 4. But one of the questions most of the sites and the folks commenting on this site never answer is: Essential to what? (more…)

In two days the Stand Up Conference starts in Newark New Jersey at the Robert Treat Hotel.

But I thought you’d like to know that one of the speakers, Saiko Woods (a relative no-name out of Texas who is working to feed the sheep and not his bank account - which of course is why he is a relative no name) is going to be a guest on the ministry’s radio program on Thursday (29 November). The show starts at 6:30. If you’re in the tri-state area you should be able to hear the broadcast on 970 AM Radio (WMCA) out of Newark. And you can listen to the broadcast live through the link on Stand Up’s website.

Perhaps we will be able to get a preview of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the broadcast.

Oh yeah - I will likely be in studio on Thursday as well. It should be an interesting half hour. I’ll try to keep my mouth shut and stay out of trouble.

Grandmothers carry a bragging book, a set of pictures of their grandchildren to show other people - ALL other people, even strangers in line at the grocery store. Grandfathers, on the other hand, are much more restrained and efficient. We don’t show one or two people at a time. We go for maximum results with minimum effort.

It’s been almost six months since the little munchkin (Avery Jones) was born and he’s actually developing a personality.

And he drools. A lot.

Many of you will natter on about the pimps being Mend of Gawd because they do good things like feed the homeless, or help people improve their lives. I of course respond by pointing out that doing good things is not proof that a person is a Christian. The proof of the pudding, so to speak, is in their fruit , in their doctrine. (Matt 7:15-23) Do they profess Jesus Christ, crucified, resurrected, and their Lord? If they don’t, it doesn’t matter how many nice things they do.

As most of you know, this website is primarily concerned with warning the sheeple out there about the pimps, pimples, and pimplettes out to take your money and basically keep you from God. However, one of the folks I discuss every once in a while, is Oprah, the New Age Priestess. (more…)

My Dream
If my dream were to come true, there would be an increase in the number of men and women who want to stand for historic, biblical Christianity. There would be an explosion of groups getting together to push for orthodoxy, to promote true biblical interpretation, and to provide a place for the believer to learn how to fend for his or herself while they are out among the wolves. Ready4change posted this comment several days ago. Rather than put it out as a comment, I decided to make it a part of a posting, to insure that all see it and that it not too quickly drop off the comment list to the right.

Ready4Change is apparently standing at a fork in the road. I thought it would be good for the rest of you to hear what he has to say and what he is thinking. Not everyone in Oneness is forever stuck there. And not everyone in Oneness is blind. R4C really highlights the fact that walking in faith is a lot more than paying your tithes instead of your rent and believing God will work a miracle to keep you in your apartment.

He is asking for our comments and advice. Read his comment, think about it (yes, pray as well) and see if you can offer any useful advice.

Several things:

1. If your comment involves threats of hell if he turns from Oneness, I’m not going to post it.
2. If you comment involves threats of hell if he fails to turn to a Trinitarian view, I’m not going to post it.
3. If your comment is simply a meandering comment with no real point, I’m not going to post it.
4. If your comments dismiss his struggles as trivial, I’m not going to post them.

In other words, if you don’t have anything useful to say, then don’t feel like you have to say something anyway. I have my thoughts and opinions on his predicament, but I would rather provide you folks with a forum to help him. After all, it’s not about me and how smart I am. Granted I know 87% of everything, but that doesn’t mean I have to speak 87% of the time. Eighty-six percent of the time will do just fine.

And if he is interested, I can share his e-mail address with those of you who ask.

Here’s a question from Angela. It is, I believe a very good question.

I have a question for everyone. The churches that many of you attend or have attended, did you get anything, and I mean anything out of your spirituality, whether or not, the pastor was an heretic. For example, the church I used to attend, though I have learned that being slain in the spirit, cutting a rug more square yards than the rest of the congregation, or speaking in tongues is not necessary for your salvation, I’ve learned forgiveness, self-control, and leaving that New Age stuff alone. I’ve even learned more things about myself. I am also aware that all of this is the grace and mercy of God. Can any of you weigh the good, bad, and ugly in your spiritual situation with your church?

Just a quick post to let you know about a fellow who is doing more than simply shouting against the darkness. He is, so to speak, lighting a candle. He is announcing a conference on his site “Blaque Tulip” (Get it? TULIP, Black, reformed? Never mind. Go to the site and give the article a read.

Pastor Lance and his associates are presenting a conference (one that he doesn’t say will be life changing, etc., etc., etc. and that he will likely not tell any of the attendants to turn to their neighbors and tell them ANYTHING) on the Gospel.

The neat thing is that he is offering to pay for lodging and registration for two people if they can’t afford it.

Take a look at the site, drop him an e-mail, and pray about it.

I love this woman!

This video presents a distillation of why Christianity is being pimped in the Black community.

How many people, Black or White, call themselves Christians and live pretty much any way they want? How many people party on Friday and Saturday (into the wee hours) and then drag themselves to church to listen to some pimp tell them that they’re not the tail, but they’re the head? How many of them sit comfortably in a church building listening to the preacher as he completely ignores the essentials of the faith - holiness, obedience, self-denial, discipline and all those other uncomfortable things?

Listen to these to men as they get trapped in their own words and react like a couple of deer in headlights. While it’s sad to think that these two dudes actually represent the norm within American Christianity, it was hilarious to watch them try to talk their way out of their own foolish words. And the interesting thing is that they mouth the same word most of the pimp enablers spout here on this site.

A young acquaintance of mine is trying to make at least a small difference in the world, or at least in Baltimore. He decided to be a Big Brother while he is finishing up his studies in Charm City (he should be there another year).

He has also started a blog to talk about his experiences and to appeal to you people out there to join him in doing what you can rather than getting frustrated and doing nothing at all.

I won’t write a great deal this time around. The previous posting said it all. But I want you to see what foolishness is perpetrated by church leaders who have no substance to preach with respect to the Gospel. I suspect these poor men and women in the audience (I really can’t think of them as a congregation) are ill-equipped to resist the lure of Pulpit Pimps. Their pastor should be taken out and flogged.

Let me make sure I understand this. The fellow cutting the rug is under the influence of the Spirit - he is supposedly “filled with the Spirt,” perhaps even drunk with the Spirit. But one has to wonder how this relates to Ephesians 5:18 through most of chapter 6 where Paul explains what being filled with the Spirit looks like in the believer’s life. I don’t really remember seeing cutting the rug as one of the items.

He did, however, talk about husbands loving their wives sacrificially, wives obeying and respecting their husbands (even if they are oafs and clods), children being obedient to their parents, and a lot of other boring, day-to-day stuff. But no place does he mention cutting the rug.

I guess I could pull out David dancing in the street when the Ark was recovered, but somehow, this just doesn’t seem to compare to that.

I have to admit though, that the man in the white coat, and the one behind him, could probably do well on “Dancing with the Stars.”

I just did something I don’t blieve I have ever done in a posting before. Yochee sent a clip in response to this posting in its original. It was so on the money, I had to post it as a follow on to Jumping Jack Flash.

More than ever I am convinced that computers are a spawn from the depths of hell put here solely for the purpose of making my life, and only my life miserable.

My computer is acting funky and I am going to have to re-install my operating system and all of my applications, my modem etc. It will likely be a painful, all-evening event. I doubt I will be able to post or respond to your comments that aren’t already posted before tomorrow, or very late tonight. However, keep them coming.

Pray for me that I might retain my Christianity and not put my Holy Ghost on the shelf while I work on my stupid #$%$(*& %($*%* $&*$^%*! computer.

Gosh I hate computers.

You people are such a bunch of kill-joys! When I wrote the initial post on the preach-off poll, I was looking forward to writing a bang-up sermon, presenting it and letting you see just how good a preacher I am. And at first the polls supported me. Then as more of you began to vote, the trend completely reversed and you were saying “no,” don’t do the preach-off. Worst than that, most of your reasons for not doing the preach-off were irritatingly insightful. This completely ruined my opportunity to wallow around in the flesh and make me look good. (more…)
