I read "My Stroke of Insight" in one sitting - I couldn't put it down. I laughed. I cried. It was a fantastic book (I heard it's a NYTimes Bestseller and I can see why!), but I also think it will be the start of a new, transformative Movement! No one wants to have a stroke as Jill Bolte Taylor did, but her experience can teach us all how to live better lives. Her TED.com speech was one of the most incredibly moving, stimulating, wonderful videos I've ever seen. Her Oprah Soul Series interviews were fascinating. They should make a movie of her life so everyone sees it. This is the Real Deal and gives me hope for humanity.

(MN: I think this is spam. I spotted the comment from another site. It was by a lady named Jennika. This writer calls herself Ellen/Chucky. Again, I think it's spam. Really sophisitcated spam. )

" Oprah's 4 interviews with Jill Bolte Taylor were the first that Oprah did after Eckhart Tolle and they take everything Tolle talks about to another level. Oprah's copy of Jill's book, MY STROKE OF INSIGHT, was dog-eared and all marked up and kept reading from it the way she read from A New Earth and recommended it highly.

Oprah's recommendation was enough for me. I read My Stroke of Insight and I loved it too. This story is as inspiring as The Last Lecture or Tuesdays with Morrie - and even better, it has a Happy Ending!

I bought the book on Amazon because they have it for 40% off retail and they also had an amazing interview with Dr Taylor that I haven't seen anywhere else - Here is the Amazon link: Stroke of Insight

(MN: Obviously, posting this link in no way indicates any agreement on the part of this site with the opinions and statements the commenter may be making. Over the past couple of years, I believe I have established my position with respect to Oprah and her New Age views. The whole thing appears to be a variation, a running experience, on the near death experience folks talk about. The only thing she doesn't do is create "The Light". )

Sanity and Godliness prevails! In a near clean sweep of women in the family who watch Oprah, there is a profound level of disappointment and amazement in her endorsement of ET. I didn't have to work too hard. By the end of chapter three, they were all spitting mad. I should have trusted the Lord to take care of his children. They all got there on their own.

I will be joining you to pray and fast for Oprah on May 1. I'm sure you've heard about the perversion she had on her show, 4/3/08 regarding the "man" who is pregnant. It's actually a woman, who's been surgically altered to look like a man and had her name changed legally to be male; but she kept her reprodcutive organs. She was artificically inseminated with her female partner's egg and used another male donor's sperm to be pregnant with their child. My heart is so heavy and sickened with the level of perversion that we're being bombarded with. Please pray for salvation for these women and the child to be born.

Intense. I've just spent the better part of two hour chasing links. I've emailed my wife and her sisters. I've cited several of the above links. I'm nearly in tears. I found a copy of this Tolle's book on my couch two days ago. I griped about it then. We'll see what tomorrow brings when she opens the email. My newest brother in law was so proud of having voted for Obama. I still can't figure out why. I think he just needed to be on the winning side for a change. These last two hours have been very stressful. I will join you all on May 1. May we add the nation and the world to our list of prayers?

I have known for a while of Oprah's New Age connections.
IMHO she blatantly rejects Jesus over what..."I'm a jealous God" ??? There is something more substantial about her unbelief lying beneath her heart versus what her quote brings to the surface. If that were indeed the case, why didn't she obtain clarification from her pastor BEFORE forsaking the faith?

What she needed was an excuse to validate her own desire to be a god and to indulge in the world's sinful pleasures.

Here are a few sites validating her beliefs, along with the video clips.

I think this indictment of the Christians that you name as friends of Oprah is a little out of bounds. We don't know what they share with her and/or if they pray for her or not. I think all of us know that we can share the Gospel and pray all we want to and that doesn't mean that someone is going to become a Christian.

I think that we all wish it were that simple...unfortunately, it's just not so.

Seeker,
Thank you for your honesty. I think that many times as Christians we try to "sugarcoat" things and deny reality. And no, I don't "blame" God nor am I angry with him while acknowledging His sovereignty. People perpetuated slavery, segregation, and discrimination....not God. And I think that's a reality that many of us as Christians don't want to deal with. My own parents had to leave their homes in the deep south in order to have an opportunity to build a decent life. I have relatives who stayed there and can tell you stories of their experiences during and after desegregation. This was not that long ago. My father who is 77 years old had to pay a "poll tax" and take a "test" before he was allowed to vote in the state of Alabama when he turned 18.

People had to fight, pray, believe God and even die so we could live the way that we (Black people) can live today. There was the Tuskegee experiment where Black men were used as himan guinea pigs to test the effects of untreated syphillis that was sponsored by the US government. That was not that long ago (look it up if you're not familiar with it). So for some people Dr. Wright's assertions about the HIV virus are not that far-fetched.

So having said all of that...am I bitter? No. Do I hate white people? Of course not. And I thank God that I can say that honestly. But, am I simple enough to think that racism and discrimination is dead? Definitely not. While I don't agree with all of Jeremiah Wright's statements that have been quoted in the media, I do understand them. And I thank God that I didn't experience many of the things that those from his generation had to endure first hand.

But, do I ever get angry about it? You bet I do. And yet, I'm still hopeful that we as a country, and maybe first as a community of believers, can begin to deal honestly with our past, how it has shaped our present, and these very real feelings that divide and seperate us.

Righter believes she has seen Aljohnathon refer to himself as such because he claims he has a wife...

However, Righter could be wrong because in today's society, you may be female and still have a wife! lol

Aljonathan already apologized and thinks Righter needs to forgive. Anyhow, who said Aljonathan was male? But if Righter wants more attention on this, maybe "she" can dialog more with Msamu and Kathy because at this point Aljonathan will no longer entertain the subject.

(MN: Warning! Unauthorized use of third person while referring to yourself. Continued violation of the third person juxtoposition will be met with stiff fines. )

Righter thinks that it is funny that Aljonathan is the "third person" this week (msamu and Kathy) that has assumed that she is male lol

Righter also wonders how Aljonathan formed this gender specific conclusion that is based soley on words on a screen, even after after she has clearly identified herself on numerous occasions.

Thus, Righter is inclined to think that Aljonathan does this on the regular and as such, will not make any attempts to dialog with him.

Righter also thinks it is funny that Aljonathan tries to play the game of rhetoric but lacks a clear understanding of "voice"...

Aljohathan,

That would be "Righter learned how to manage HER time", because Righter is a female. She speaks in the third person all the time...We've gotten used to it, and I personally adore it because it's unique and creative...Just my 2 cents...

Solus Christus,

R4C

(MN: Melvin agrees. Righter always writes in the thrid person, just as mrs. mav never uses capital letters (with some exceptions). )

Don't you mean Righter learned how to manage "HIS" time wisely? Also :Where 'HE" was... and "say the "HE" adhere... and "("Righter" don't have a name for it")? You are confusing me with the third person lingo.

Thank you Red Roses.......there is the difference between a Biblical view of history and a carnal view of history. One view recognizes that if the Bible is true, then God was Sovereign over all. Folks need to stop misplacing their anger. If you're angry, then be angry at God. He could have stopped it, He could have prevented it, but He didn't. But folks would rather chew on intellectual and spiritual cotton candy than begin to partake of meat.

Be angry with God, and stop wasting your time being angry with the unregenerate and the dead. Wrestle with God. You may miss a few episodes of American Idol though.

Any black person who's not angry at what had happened during segregation, or slavery, well...

There's nothing wrong with being angry, just as long as that anger doesn't lead you to sin, such as hatred.

If someone slapped my wife, I'm not going to say that I'm not angry, because it happened for a reason, rather, I am going to become angry, and defend my wife, and pray to God no one gets seriously hurt in the process.

I'm sorry, but I'm just not that ultra-righteous. You know, the type of righteousness that even the apostle Paul didn't have, at his best. Sheesh!

Righter learned how to manage my time wisely from Oprah who said that the bathroom should be cleaned in the morning, which is where I am for the first 2 hours of my day! lol

This does not say that I adhere to any of her principles on what ever it is (I don't have a name for it) that she is now pushing.

That's really sad and really true. Oprah's path isn't everybody's path. She works 18 hour days, I'd never! It's sad to see that people really think money makes the person. I tend to think I've made some smart financial decisions but I know that I need God. I'd rather lose money than lose God.
