Many of you will natter on about the pimps being Mend of Gawd because they do good things like feed the homeless, or help people improve their lives. I of course respond by pointing out that doing good things is not proof that a person is a Christian. The proof of the pudding, so to speak, is in their fruit , in their doctrine. (Matt 7:15-23) Do they profess Jesus Christ, crucified, resurrected, and their Lord? If they don’t, it doesn’t matter how many nice things they do.
As most of you know, this website is primarily concerned with warning the sheeple out there about the pimps, pimples, and pimplettes out to take your money and basically keep you from God. However, one of the folks I discuss every once in a while, is Oprah, the New Age Priestess.
You know that she has denied Jesus Christ as being the only way. Click here to review her statement in case you have forgotten it.
You might have thought “Oh, this was just a single event, but it doesn’t reflect who Oprah is. She’s really a Christian.” And you’re certainly entitled to see it that way. But to do that, you have to ignore an awful lot of stuff.
I was wandering around the internet the other day and came across a webcaster by the name of Mike Corley and he was ranting about the fact that you people are so slow to object to bad doctrine and even slower to listen to someone preaching the truth, but so quick to not only defend someone who denies Jesus Christ, but aggressively promote people who present a false Jesus Christ. And I have to admit I agree with him.
Though Oprah often presents herself as a traditional Christian, she has become more and more aggressive in presenting and promoting folks and literature denying the Jesus of the Bible and instead present a Jesus soaked in New Age claptrap.
On Oprah’s new XM Satellite station, the Big O is presenting a “Course in Miracles.”
Do you think this just proves Oprah is a Christian? Think again. From what I could find out (not that anyone is trying especially hard to hide it), this course in miracles includes such teachings as:
· God is in everything I see (Pantheism)
· My salvation comes from me (Humanistic philosophies)
· I am the light of the world (Humanism)
· There is no need for help to enter Heaven for you have never left
· Jesus is the name of one who was a man but saw the face of Christ in all his brothers and remembered God. (Another gospel, another Jesus)
The daily class is going to be taught by Marianne Williamson, an XM reporter and a big wig in the New Age upper crust.
Oprah is not a pimpette. She offers entertainment for your money. She does good things , started a school in South Africa, gives people stuff they need, makes it possible for people to pursue their dreams. These are all good things. And she doesn’t use a religious appeal to take money from people who can ill afford it. Yet, if Oprah continues along the path she is on, she is going to bust hell wide open, dragging literally millions of duped people with her.
But worse than that, she is exerting an influence on you who say you name the name of Christ , the Christ of the Bible, not Oprah’s New Age double talker. Oprah is doing more and more to promote a “New Age, let’s all get along ’cause ecumenicalism is so good” kind of religion.
I’m starting to suspect more and more that the hard times to come for Christians is going to be from the likes of Oprah and not some dictator in the Middle East. But that’s just my opinion.
Here’s a little more information on the subject:
Here are a couple of sites for you to visit, just so you won’t think I’m blowing smoke up your…uh…nose.

And yet when people are faced with the reality that their high priestest of the new age movement Oprah is exactly what she says she is, a denier that Jesus is the ONLY way to God, they look at you like a deer caught in headlights. For some reason they equate ‘good deeds’ with being saved. I’m not sure if I feel more sorry for her or for her hapless starstruck sheeple.
Feel sorry for Oprah? Why? (MN: Because if she dies rejecting JEsus Christ [i.e. in her sins] she will spend an eternity in hell, separated from God. This warrants a little bit of pity. ) She has attained success and respect beyond measure, a little nappy headed girl from Mississippi, a billionaire. She promotes only good and positive works putting her money where her mouth is. She inspires others to follow their dreams and do good works as well. She nor her admirers should be pitied. I think she is a great person. (MN: But God thinks she is an enemy of His and a sinner [Romans 5:10])
Whether or not she believes in Jesus Christ is her business. None of us are responsible for Oprah’s nor anyone else’s soul but our own. (MN: And the relatives of yours who may reject Christianity because of her influence? Does that matter? ) I associate with non-Christians such as Jews, Muslims, etc. What others believe does not affect my faith in Jesus Christ. (MN: It’s not about associating with non-Christians. It’s about Christians promoting a woman who claims to be a Christian yet clearly is not. Huge difference. ) I can respect and admire non-Christians without feeling the need to criticize and condemn them. If only other Christians could learn to do the same. Maybe more people would want to be Christians.
Do you really think Jesus Christ disapproves of how Oprah has chosen to use her life for humanity? (MN: I think Jesus Christ will condemn her to hell if she dies in the state she is in. )
Discouraged:
Though your response sounds good and even tickles my ears, the bottom line is there is no biblical evidence to what you are saying. Psalms 139:19-22
Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God!
Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.
20 For they speak against You wickedly;
Your enemies take Your name in vain.
21 Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred;
I count them my enemies.

Melvin,
May God bless you for the post and the links concerning Oprah. I fell out with her, when she said that Jesus was not the only way to God. I am sending this information to everyone that I know and asking them to forward this, because women love that Oprah and Juanita. If they decide to continue following her, then your hands are clean, because you have warned them. Thank you for the information.
Thanks Melvin.
Discouraged, if works were enough to get into heaven Jesus would not have needed to be sacrificed for our sins. Remember there will be many, many people who will stand before God and speak poetically about their good deeds, Matthew 7:21-22. Yes I feel sorry for her, not because of her riches but because she continues to teach people of other paths to God and totally rejects the idea that she and everyone else needs Jesus. Should I not have compassion for someone so lost? Imagine if Jesus said forget Saul just kill him now instead of calling him to Himself. What about Peter? When Jesus rose he asked for Peter by name. Mark 16:7.
What good will her riches do her if she denies the path that is given to everyone? John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If she keeps on denying Jesus never asks for forgiveness what do you think will happen? That Jesus will say, ‘it’s alright girl, your works are good with me.’?
“Do you really think Jesus Christ disapproves of how Oprah has chosen to use her life for humanity” Absolutely not. God uses believers and non-believers. (whether they know it or not) The difference is the believer knows Isaiah 64:6
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
Oprah is banking on her good works being good enough to get her in heaven. So Yes, I pity her and her followers.
I can’t imagine a mature Christian confusing Oprah for a true believer!
That said, I don’t think it’s fair to single her out as having some great influence that causes people to possibly reject Christianity. We could list thousands of people and companies doing just that, so Oprah isn’t anything special. Yes, she has a huge/massive viewing audience but in the course of a work day, people are bombarded with possibly thousands of ungodly images, ads, and so on.
I’m guessing porn, drugs, Hollywood, the music industry and Madison Avenue has a much bigger impact on the lost than Oprah ever will. (MN: I suggest that Oprah has an impact on a huge segment of society. Saying that her impact is less than drugs and porn is not really an argument. The average unsaved person - heck, the average saved person for that matter - knows that drugs and porn are wrong. But the average unsaved person has no idea that Oprah is wrong. Her good works and “god” words simply make the blind more blind. )
I believe that Oprah has a good heart (MN: Uh, no. Here heart is sick and desperately wicked. Her heart rails against God. She truly cares about her fellow man. She’s helping the poor (Christ likes that, or does he only like it when believers help the poor??). (MN: Again you miss the point. Her works are as filthy rags as far as God is concerned. And if the people she helps die without Jesus Christ, they will spend an eternity in hell beside her. ) Sadly, she walking in severe ignorance as it pertains to salvation.
Is she on her way to hell?… Yes. And that’s why I pray for her to truly find and accept Christ as Lord and Savior.
You made a good point. It sometimes seems like the modern church is raising up a bunch of immature “Christians”. Blessed and wealthy but carnal and sinful.
Melvin, I’ve been praying for the kingdoms of man (woman) to fall for several weeks. Oprah and Tyra are at the top of the list. They are leading millions of people to hell and taking streets called self righteous, confusion and blasphemy on the way.
Keep up the “God” work!
Lady D
Judgment has already started and things are going to get worse God is exposing every unclean and demonic spirit that lives in these people they do good works but their dead and rotten on the inside and without life and the Lord is going to make them suffer for that these demons have lead thousands astray from God .
Whatever Oprah’s agenda is, she is doing a heck of a better job promoting it then we Christians are at promoting ours. (MN: DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! Give that person a kewpie doll. You have hit the nail on the head. How many of us sit and do nothing or say nothing to those around us. How many of us allow the vultures and pimps to be the face of Christianity because we refuse to judge the vultures and pimps and instead say “They belong to God. I’ll let God take care of it. Meanwhile, Christ is made to look like a fool among the unsaved. ) I guess you all are right to be concerned. Maybe Christian churches should start a boycott of her show, magazine, radio, etc. lest she take us all to hell with her.
(MN: I suggest the pastors in those churches should start teaching the truth to the congregation. The congregation should get up off their butts and start living the Gospel. It’s not our job to make Oprah stop preaching New Age claptrap. It is our job to present and live the Gospel. I dare say someone like John K. Jenkins merely makes Oprah’s hand stronger since he does nothing to train the men and women under him for spiritual combat.
The more I think about it, the more likely it seems that people like Oprah will end up causing Christianity a great deal of trouble. Remember, there is nothing more dangerous to the Christian than a powerful Liberal. Oprah is definitely a powerful Liberal. )
Perhaps Oprah believes salvation will be granted to those who have the good fortune to be in the Heavenly Audience on the day the LORD is passing out His favorite things!
Oprah’s religious views have been dangerous for quite some time. She is on record as having said she does not believe in a god who punishes sin. She loves to talk about her relationship with Jesus; the Jesus of her own making. In my house she is called Evangelist Winfrey due to how sucessful she is in leading people down the broad way of destruction.
Thanks to the Holy Spirit, since growing closer to the Lord, and obtaining greater discernment of scripture, I’ve lost interest in watching Oprah. In the past I would watch her morning show, and sometimes a repeat in the evening. Not anymore. Melvin I noticed that you’ve exposed many of the well known false prophets, but I do not see a listing of Pastors and/or Preachers you feel teach in agreement with God’s Word. Is that listed on the site, or can you share a few names? There are so many False Prophets today, and they’re growing by the hour. Many are so overt, it still astounds me that they have such a huge following. JS
For many people (my own family members) who are not saved and Bible savy, Oprah and Rick Warren appear as good people. Oprah is dangerous because she has some appearance of godliness, compassion, and mercy, and yet she is moving in the spirit of this world that is new age, ecumentical, global peace and prosperity void of God’s commands. You don’t need God and the narrow way of Christ when you are a billionaire. It’s the same old lie from the garden of eden that we can be as God knowing good and evil. It’s very sad.
Now, what’s wrong with Rick Warren????????
(MN: Try this for starters. )
And Seekerman, once you’re done with that one, give these a read:
Rick Warren Asks the Money Changers to Partner With The Church. This Could Be Worse Than Faith Based Funding.
What’s the Matter With Rick Warren? A Lot!
Hillary Clinton Jumps on the Saddleback and Mike Huckabee Defends Kenneth Copeland! Yes, the false teacher has started infiltrating the Southern Baptists too!
mary - I know how you feel talking to people about the false teachers. You don’t know how hard it was to try and get people to understand that Juanita Bynum is no good, until recently!
Huckabee’s a big disappointment…
my husband and I are interested in hearing from you about what you believe. it seems to me that you are fed up with the traditional churches of this day and are want the truth of the Word and for the lie to be exposed, well so are we. My heart is grieved for the shepherdless sheep. please email me at bryanjacob@cox.net
if you are interested.
(MN: Actually, I’m fed up with watching the sheeple get fleeced by the wolves and pimps. I have no problem with the “traditional” church as long as it preaches the Word and encourages us to live for Christ. )
I don’t see any difference between Oprah Winfrey and Joel Osteen. Personally, I think Osteen and his ilk are leading people to hell too, with their fake cash-cow jesus….not the Jesus of the Bible.
Are we all going to go before God and say “will the REAL Jesus please stand up.”
It is unfortunate that so many people get caught in the glare and haze of Hollywood and its trappings and lose sight of the fact that those trappings are doomed! Oprah has been exposed to the Truth and apparently by her doctrine and lifestyle has rejected it and has exercised her free will towards the “darkside.” (MN: She has no choice but to move in the darkside. ) Will she make an about face and turn to the living Christ? (MN: If God moves on her heart to do so, yes. Will she choose to do so of her own desire? No. ) Don’t know yet but if she is expecting her good works to be in substitution for salvation by grace through Jesus Christ…she will not make heaven her
home.
Thanks Melvin for posting this about Oprah. I am from the small town called Macon, Georgia that Oprah just gave away her “Favorite Things” just two weeks ago. I was just amazed at the audience response to the material things she was giving away. My husband was really agitated at the way the people were “worshiping” Oprah over the things given away. My husband called it the “Oprah Ghost” .
Thank you for your continued work of exposing pimps and priestesses to us. I sadly watch as so many around me just ‘adore’ Oprah, most recently going DID YOU SEE HER FAVORITES show?? How sad to see a bunch of woman fawn over material things that they can just get themselves . And how Oprah thinks she’s all so wonderful for doing it. Her ‘good works’ do nothing to expand the Kingdom of God and proclaim Jesus as Lord, so what good are they really? Would she give up her riches to follow the Lord?
We can see her answer in her actions…
If someone could watch Paula White tonight on CNN that would be great!!! I will driving on the road to Atlanta tonight, and I will miss it. Sigh…
I watched it. Larry King pretty much soft-balled the interview. It was mostly like an infomercial for Paula White. No real surprises to me in anything she said. The interview lasted about the first 34 minutes of the hour. In about the last 10 or 15 minutes, Larry King asked her about her new book (You’re All That). At one point, in talking about the book, she said, “You don’t have to be a believer.” I think maybe she meant that you don’t have to be a believer in order to apply the principles in her book. But that reminded of Jesus saying, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul.” I feel nauseated and grieved at the false teaching of people like Paula White.
Here is the transcript of the show:

I am really amazed at all these anti-Oprah posts. Is she really having an adverse affect on Christians? Are any of the posters aware of a single Christian who has decided to disavow Jesus Christ because of Oprah’s views on faith/religion? I would like to see stories about believers who have gone astray because of Oprah. For example, “My friend use to attend church every Sunday, sang in the choir, was a witness for Jesus Christ, but since she started watching Oprah, all she does now is read new age books and never goes to church anymore”. Where is the proof that she is destroying Christianity?
Frankly, you all sound like a bunch of malcontent haters. Let’s see, she’s rich, famous and adored by many. But if we convince ourselves she is going to hell after living such a fabulous life here on Earth we can feel a little bit better about our boring, mundane lives. Ya think? But at least because we are “real” Christians, we will go to heaven, not hell like Oprah, at the end of our dreary lives.
Discouraged, Oprah is not destroying Christianity and I don’t think that anyone here is saying that. The problem is that there are a lot of people who are either Christians who are weak in the faith and/or unknowledgeable, or people who are lost and seeking. The bottom line is that these “weaker” people will listen to Oprah and others like her, and because of her “good works” and how she appeals to the people, will be swayed into error by her belief system, which she pushes every chance she gets. I shudder to think of those poor young girls in her school in Africa who are being swayed by her influences that will die and go to Hell because of her power over them if someone doesn’t teach them the truth. Your concern seems to be about people who are in the faith being turned, but what about those who are seeking truth who have not yet come to a place where they can discern truth from error because of their lack of Biblical knowledge and understanding? It’s easy to say “we have to get it for ourselves” and while that is true, those of us who are there ALL had to get there and got there because of those who are holding forth the Word of Truth.
Not to be insulting to you at all, but it appears to me that you either do not know or understand the Word of God, or you are a poster whose real goal is to stir up contention on this site.
The Word of God is clear:
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
“They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (1 John 4:5-6)
My favorite passages for this subject are:
“If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come!” (1 Corinthians 16:22)
“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6-9)
If you are of the Christian Faith (not the Christian faith that the world has tried so desperately to re-define, but the one that Christ ordained), please be careful of the parties you side with. You are trying to balance on a pole that separates one lake of fire from another. Oprah with all of her good works does not preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is found in the Bible. She is therefore accursed according to scripture. If she no longer sides with the New Age belief system, she owes it to every one of her viewers to publicly denounce what she has previously taught.
If your stand is in any way saying that the Bible is not the inerrant, incorruptible, infallible Word of God, then you are just a troublemaker come to stir up strife on this site and if I were Melvin, I would ban you from posting. (Not trying to dictate here, Melvin; I just seriously question her motives in light of Scripture. I’d hate for someone in a weaker state to be swayed by her antics. She’s doing the same thing Oprah is doing if she is not standing on the Word.) (MN: the Benevolent Dictator is also a gracious one. As long as a person’s comments generation intriguing and instructive conversatons - like this one - I will allow those of suspect motive to continue to post. So let it be written, so let it be done. [I said this in my best Yul Brynner accent] ) It’s one thing to seek Truth, it’s a whole other animal to tell people that someone who denies Christ should not be seen as a heretic.
Discouraged, your post name may be an indication of your walk with Christ. I and many others have given you scriptures that require no interpretation. They are plain, simple, and straight to the point. He who has an ear, let him hear. But if you are refusing to hear the Truth of God’s Word in defense of Oprah, you put yourself in the accursed place as well. I pray that the Lord would save you from this foolishness.
Many folks will defend Oprah as if she’s god almighty. I’ve gotten into knock down, dragged out arguments, just because I was critical of Oprah in the least bit.
Trust me, Oprah is black america’s, little best kept deity secret. You have black folks who are afraid to criticize Oprah in the least bit, as if she has intense spiritual powers.
And believe it or not, some of her most staunchest defenders are churchgoers. As I said in another post, Oprah, since the 80’s, have been emitting messages on her television program, that have, over a period of time, had a negative impact upon the black community, and general society at large.
I know this may sound harsh, but hey-it’s the truth. Now, I’m not saying that she’s the epitome of all what is wrong with society, but I am saying that much of her overall worldview, and spiritual beliefs, is anti wholesome living, and anti-christ.
She’s a fake christian, who has been raised under the banner of a christian tradition, but from the views she holds, and the folks she associates with, she is far from being a christian.
In other words, she’s similar to someone who’s a jew by religion and culture, but not by belief, for when it all boils down to it, they can be an atheist jew, who practices jewish traditions. Or this is like someone who refers to themself as Catholic, yet they believe in abortion, capital punishment, gay marriages, etc.
Simply put, they are Catholic by tradition and culture, and not by heart. Similiarly, Oprah is a christian by tradition, and culture, but not by regeneration.
Hi Discouraged,
I understand why you think people may be too hard on Oprah. It is not that we hate her, we hate that people are being lead astray from the false teaching she does and allows on her show. Personally, I pray that she repents and accepts Christ as her Savior.
Here is how she has an adverse affect on Christains. She proclaims to have a realtionship with God (this gives the appearance to some christains that she is okay to listen too), yet on her show she promotes other ideas such as, there are many ways to get to God. And because she is famous, people see her as an authority, teacher, etc. (which is another whole issue, entertainers who given so much authority.)
There is an old children’s church song:
“Be careful little ears what you hear,
Be careful little ears what you hear,
For the Father up above is looking down below,
so be careful little ears what you hear.”
The Bible says it this way:
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.” 2 Peter 2:1-3
The teachings she allows on her show are “destructive heresies” and full of “deceptive words”. People are lead astray from the teachings, the books she receommends, and the guest she has on the show.
Here is something I observed recently. I was with my family Thanksgiving weekend. The Oprah Favorite Things show came on. My mother (who is a Christain) had to stop everything to watch that show. I made a comment, “I can not stand how the audience worships the material gifts. They have made things and Oprah like an idol.” It was like a big light blub went off in my mothers head. She turned the show off and we continue having a great time as a family. My point is: Her show makes it easy and acceptable to take your eyes off Jesus. What you put in your mind is what will come out in your life.
His daughter,
Cheryl
It’s not about being anti-Oprah. The point is the subliminal messages that Oprah teaches. Everything is spiritual. You are aware that messages come in through television, internet, surroundings, who you surround yourself with, all of the mediums are used.
I used to think to myself that I wasn’t affected by the music I listened to that promoted hate. I used to make up all these superficial surface excuses why I could just continously listen to secular music. Little did I know I was being deceived. Not saying Oprah is hatred but Oprah is one of the contributors to the culture of selfish and Jesus Christ commands christians to be selfless.
Nonetheless the deception is promoted throughout her television shows of various topics that promote the deterioration of morals overall. Simply giving or being good by your own standards does not guarantee you a seat in “heaven.” You have to have faith that Jesus Christ was God in Flesh who walked the earth among us, died for our sins, and is the High Priest.
Not only that, you must not be conformed by this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. We are against deception that is all. If you are a Christian you can sit there and be okay with someone who denies Jesus Christ and His real teachings? I guess as long as it’s not bothering you but we are commanded as Christians to spread the Gospel, that is the TRUTH, Not the truth by Oprah’s viewpoint that is deceiving millions including yourself.
I am sitting here watching MS WHite on LArry King. She is very evasive non convincing, and full of excuses. Larry KIng asked her why does she preach or appeal to blacks. Her response was she is a bridge to adn for all ethnic groups. He asked her about her finances she avoided that as well. He asked her about the church paying for her and Randy’s plastic surgery. It was a good interview but again she is evasive.
Ce,
To answer your question, “Larry King asked her why does she preach or appeal to blacks”.
It’s because Joel Osteen already has all the white sheeple duped. Joel has that pasty appeal-LOL!. Everyone has to carve their niche market.
Kyle
Thanks Kyle for the clarity
WHat did you think of the overall interview?
Discouraged..I mean no disrespect, but, why are you so upset? Don’t get mad love…”it ain’t wurf it”…(remember that line Oprah did in the Color Purple?
Hey–Why come to a site called Pulpit Pimps and get mad at the content. That’s like going to Hooters to eat chicken wings with your kids and getting mad because cleavage is all up in your face as your lemonade is getting poured!
Look–I likes me some Oprah–e’ry now and again I watch her show..got some great tips on taking 10 years off my appearance. Anyway…
I don’t know Oprah personally, and she seems like a cool lady..got it going’ on doesn’t she!? She is the diva of all divas…and she has managed to keep the same man for years–albeit shackin’….but that’s cool ‘cuz she’$ rich..she can do that…)coughing softly with hand over mouth…)
But, since this is a site dedicated to EXPOSING the reality of folk who spew false doctrine according to the Word of God..this site is doing just that. Why not take that zeal you have for Oprah and sew into her Angel Network and support her as she supports others. Looking at it like sowing a seed. Heck, I may write her and ask her to sew a seed into my life..she sure has enough seeds to go around. (smile)
The reality is, though you may claim folk are drinking “Haterade” ‘cus Oprah is paid in the $hade–I really don’t think that’s the case at all. Stink is stink–whether it’s rich stink or “po” stink!!
My life is far from mundane..it is quite rich! Here’s my bank statement!
* Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
*Proverbs 13:7 Pr 13:7 -
There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
*Proverbs 28: 6
Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
Jeremiah 9:23
Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
1Timothy 6:17/18
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
I’ll stop here….as you can see from this.. my pockets are fat! I don’t hate anyone..heck I wanna visit Oprah’s $55 million house to see all those warmy fuzzy fireplaces..but rich or not–it’s God’s way or the wrong way.
Oprah’s show, as well as other talk shows, have led to many divorces, acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. Her show, as well as others from the 80’s and 90’s, aided and abetted in the further destruction of the black family.
I remember Oprah during the 80’s and very early 90’s, when she was on a rabid anti-male kick. Her “kick” was sooooo bad, she even did a show once entitled “Fathers who kill their daughters.” Now, am I lost here-BUT I DIDN’T REALIZE THAT THIS WAS AN EPIDEMIC.
Oprah has done a lot of good for folks, on a personal level, but on another level, despite her good, she’s caused a lot of damage.
This goes back to my overall philosophy about folks in general, whether they be saved or unsaved. No matter how righteous a person thinks they, or truly is, they will always produce evil that can negatively effect those who are under their influence.
You can be a liberal christian, with great views as it relates to the social gospel, that are christocentric, yet fail in other areas, when it comes to let’s say-traditional family values. Whereas conservative christians may be right on many general social issues, when it comes to family issues, but will fall short when it comes to helping their fellow man, all under the banner of “the constitution (like the constitution is the bible)”, or some other treatise or conservative catch phrase (many of them even have the audacity to believe that if Jesus walked this earth, he’d be a republican).
All I’m saying is that in the end, whether you are in Christ, or not, you have the potential to negatively steer folks in the wrong direction, simply because as finite human beings, who don’t know it all-YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.
And that’s okay, to an extent, because we’re not supposed to know everything, or be infinite in our wisdom and knowledge.
So having said that, I can easily say that I am impressed with the Oprah of the last 10 years, and her altruism. However, I can not go along with her spiritual beliefs, which doesn’t really surprise me at all, for if you were following her since the 80’s, she was never really a “traditional” sort anyways, when it came to religious beliefs, or conservative family values- seeing as how she’s taken pro lesbian and gay stances, as well as anti-family stands; etc.
I don’t really watch Oprah, but my mother watch her all the time, so I caught a few of her episodes. There was two shows she had that was so wicked. One Show Oprah encouraged parents to allow their children to have a sex change if their children wanted a sex change. There were actually children on the show that had a sex change because they felt that they were born in the wrong body. The second show, Oprah had a Christian man on her show who was against homosexuality. Oprah sent the man out with Homos for a day to change his mind. She was trying to encourage him that homosexuality was ok despite his christian beliefs. The sad part of the show is that her mind control worked, so this told me that this man was a weak Christian. Oprah used that old time saying “what if your child becomes gay” This statement soften the man up. The bottom line is the entire thing was sick.
I feel so said for my mother because she loves Oprah. I try to warn her about Oprah, but she does not listen to me. I told her Oprah is not saved and that Satan uses her authority to deceive people, but my mother looked at me and said “I think Oprah is very spritual; I don’t think there is anything wrong with her in that area.” I even warned my mother about that new book that Oprah is recommending to fans “The Secret” I told my mother that the book was written in the 1800’s by a woman who worshiped Satan, so it has Hindu and occult traditions in the book asa well. The authors who released the book recently cut the book down to a smaller version, but if anyone was to get the original “The Secret” they would find many references to Satan. But none of this infromation mattered to my mother who claims to be a Christain. WHY? BECAUSE ITS OPRAH– SHE CANT GO WRONG!!!!
Well said…
For the record, I do not watch nor listen to any of Oprah’s shows so I am not very well versed on what she teaches however, I do hear many people talk about the guests on her show. For instance when she presented the authors of “the secret” on her show, there was an audience member who stood up to “disagree” with the message in the book that it was taking the teachings of Christ and twisting them to a humanistic viewpoint. After the authors gave examples of successes people had in following their book, she had to back down from her position. Why? She didn’t have enough teaching of the scriptures to show how they lifted principals from the bible and separated the Christ from the principals.
For the poster who stated that Oprah had no more influence that alcohol, drugs, or ungodly ads we encounter everyday; remember during the mad cow scare a few years ago, the beef industry sued her for defamation after she said on her show she would not eat red meat. Their stance was “her influence was is great that we suffered devastating financial losses simply as a result of the program’s airing.”
Did anyone catch her use of the phrase “triune synergistic beings”? Does that not SMACK of “…you are gods?”
A little more elaboration
Did anyone catch Ms. White’s use of the phrase “synergistic TRIUNE being”?
From the interview:
KING: Must I be a believer to appreciate the book?
P. WHITE: Oh, absolutely not.
KING: Not?
P. WHITE: Not. It’s the book — again, I go back to that your history tells a lot about your destiny. Remember, Larry, I didn’t grow up in church. I had no concept of God — existence, I — the name Jesus was synonymous with tooth fairy and Santa Claus.
So when I had this concept that I’m not just a body with a mind, that I’m a spirit being, I’m a synergistically trying (ph) being, when I understood that, life began to come into focus.
So when I say you don’t have to be a believer, you just have to say — you have to ask the question to say am I concerned about the tough questions in life, being introspective enough to say, who am I, why am I, what am I?
Now the transcript has her saying “synergistically trying being” but I watched the interview twice and heard her say TRIUNE.
Is it much of a stretch to say that the next logical step is to declare “…then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods”? Gen 3:5
I mean the last part of her answer seems to beg that conclusion.
To Cheryl and Jahnea,
Thank you both for giving me examples of people you actually know (your mothers) who have been influenced by Oprah.
But its sound to me that they are just run of the mill fans of Oprah who enjoy her show as entertainment.
Has either of your mothers’ Christian faith been challenged by Oprah’s beliefs?
(MN: It’s not simply a matter of a believer’s faith being challenged. It actually runs the gamut of effects, from politicians being more willing to promote anti-Christian legislation, to the generally coarsening of the society we have to live in. Her support of homosexual rights makes it easier for the NEA to promote homosexual “rights” in the classroom. Her attitude toward sin in general dulls the nation’s conscience, slowly and surely. As some would say - sure, I don’t have to watch porn on TV. I can just turn it off. But who turns off the pervert who decides to rape my daughter after he gets charged up watching some Lolita on cable? Likewise, Oprah will not cause me to turn from Christ. But she does exercise a significant influence over the public at large. [Read here, an uber-liberal by the name of Obama]. I have to live in this environment, you have to raise your children in this environment. And if you get sick, more and more you have to try to avoid getting your life support system unplugged if you fall asleep. Yeah. Thanks Oprah. )
Discouraged,
Sorry for the delay in responding back. I wanted to think and pray about what you are really trying to ask here.
So, here is where my thoughts have lead me. When you say “But its sound to me that they are just run of the mill fans of Oprah who enjoy her show as entertainment.” That is the issue and problem. If a person is growing and thriving (studying the Word, praying, etc.) in their Christain faith they would not be a “run of the mill fan of Oprah”. Because as many posters to the blog have mentioned, God’s Word tells us to be careful who you watch, listen, and associate with, etc.
If a Christain (my mom) is watching someone like Oprah, Dr. Phil, etc. on a regular schedule I will step out on a limb and say they have a mediocre walk with God. In fact as much as I love my mom that would be how I describe her relationship with God - mediocre. She is allowing someone who does not have a relationship with God to teach her.
You asked,”Has either of your mothers’ Christian faith been challenged by Oprah’s beliefs?” If you are asking if my mother has walked faway from her faith because of watching Oprah she would answer - No. But a regular dose of Oprah and friends keeps my mother from going into a deeper relationship with God. It allows her to keep her faith “comfortable”.
I’m not sure where your relationship with God is, but I hope my responses have given you more understanding of where my faith is. I’m a strong believer in studying the Word for yourself, not just reading it or listening to others teach it. Take the scriptures people have used on this blog and study for yourself what God says about these things. Here is a good one to start with:
“Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a “fool” so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”;and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” I Cor. 3:18-20
His Daughter,
Cheryl
I thank you for finally addressing this woman. Oprah has been leading people astray for years. The woman is so far away from God its a shame. She promotes homosexuality, she lives with her “boyfriend” she isn’t married to and she believes she is the master of her destiny and Black women (mostly) swear by her. They will beat you down for saying anything about her. She has become a god to Black people and its ridiculous.
The tragedy is that too many black people fall for
anything that has trappings of success or wealth and
we equate that with God’s approval.
When Oprah says a few “christian words” and cries a
few tears, WHAM!!! all discernment leaves the building
and we root for Oprah and play down her anti God
message.
When Oprah said that all roads lead to God…that
should have raised everyone’s antenna that Oprah
was not of Jesus.
Too often black people have child like faith (which can
be good depending towards whom it is exercised) but
we stay child like in our abilities to discern right and
wrong because we fail to study the Word in order to
know how to spot the genuine vs. the fake.
Oprah is fake. She sounds good. Looks good. Does
“good works”. But there are no nail scarred hands or
feet on her body. Judge her testimony and
it is found wanting. She is not bearing evidence of
Jesus fruit. Her own fruit…yes but not the Word of
God defined fruit.
Her new radio program will affect millions of listeners
who will buy into her secular humanism and false
piety. Oprah wants more power and influence and if
that means being crafty to get around the convicting
words of Jesus…she will find a way since she does not
want to be crucified with Christ and submit to His
authority. Oprah is a god…unto herself and her
universe of followers.
