My Dream
If my dream were to come true, there would be an increase in the number of men and women who want to stand for historic, biblical Christianity. There would be an explosion of groups getting together to push for orthodoxy, to promote true biblical interpretation, and to provide a place for the believer to learn how to fend for his or herself while they are out among the wolves.
I’d like to have someone hold a conference and not make the promise that it will “change your life forever.” I’d like to have them hold a conference and not tell you to come expecting your miracle. Heck, I’d like to have someone hold a conference and not have them tell me that there is a breakthrough waiting for me when I listen to the anointed Mand of Gawd. T. Dexter girlifies men witn Manpower (Fill in the Year). He looses women each year. The Dukes out of Virginia expose you to Oneness heresies, the Jenkins, out of Maryland expose you to all kinds of trash, all the time telling you that you have to listen to them because they are the ones God appointed to “speak truth in your life.”
The Good News
Actually, some men and women out there are setting up conferences to help the believer. You saw Glendale Missionary Baptist presenting such a conference (8 , 10 November) in Miami. And adding to that number is the Stand Up Ministry’s “Standing Up for the Truth” conference. The conference is being held in Newark New Jersey at the Robert Treat Hotel. Oh, and it’s free. I doubt they will even take up a love offering.
John (Attila the Hun) Coleman will be returning to the East Coast to do some teaching and exhorting at the Stand Up conference. If you have listened to him on Truthradio.com and on his site, you know he doesn’t go in for the gratuitous crap the pimps present as “life changing.” John’s primary objective is to help you dig into the Word on your own, to help you to develop an ability to understand on your own what the Bible writers were saying. He wants to make sure you are going to run away when one of the pimps tells you “You can’t teach yourself!” because you will know that the man who says this is an ignorant and greedy pimp, intent on keeping you even more ignorant while appealing to your greed.
Saiko Woods, out of Texas), will also be a speaker. No, you never heard of him. And he hasn’t taken some small church in Dirt Poor Texas and increased the membership from 10 to 500,000 in three weeks. And no, he won’t be speaking on how to get God to give you what you want. He will be speaking on the sovereignty of God. So if any of you want a face to face opportunity to discuss God’s sovereignty and to see how essential it is to effectively living the Christian life, come on out.
I’m planning on attending. I will likely be the Master of Ceremonies for the first night’s activities.
Did I mention that the conference is free?. You’ll have to get yourself up there and find a place to stay (the conference is in a hotel , hint, hint). You’ll also have to pay for your food and beverages. Don’t come expecting a miracle (other than those which God, in His sovereignty may decree). Don’t expect a breakthrough (unless it involves leaving with a renewed respect for the Word’s trustworthiness, and a confidence in applying the Word in your life and being willing to allow God to transform your mind). And don’t come expecting to have some mystical experience that will shake you to your boots (unless it involves God working in your heart to turn to Him as the sovereign creator of the universe who does things for His pleasure and not ours).
I’m looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible during the three days in Newark. It should be most interesting and exciting.
I would like to listen to what Saiko Woods has to say. I believe I spoke with him earlier this year when he and I teamed up on a WOFer out of my hometown who posted on BET’s blog. I think it was Saiko because I asked him was he the same Pastor Woods that posted on this site. We also emailed each other so I have heard of him if this is the same brother. He seem to be pretty sharp. He is teaching on a subject that is becoming a focal point in my life right now, The Sovereignty(sp) of God.
I believe he is the same fellow. After all, how many Saiko’s can there be in Texas?
Reading the second paragraph of this article reminded me of a movie that me and my wife holds dear to us, “What about Bob?” With all the hoopla going on in todays churches and conferences of “me, me, and me” you have to ask the same question that the movie ask but phrase it different: “What about God?”
What does God want out of all of this? Could it be, ahhhh, let’s see, SOULS? By that I mean His people return to Him? I thought the bible was a book mainly about redemption. Now we all know that out well being and living an abundant life is sort of like the gravy to the meat and potatos but when money and fame and all about me becomes the foacl point, I have to wonder. “WHAT ABOUT GOD?”
Melvin I really look forward to meeting you in person. You can’t possibly be this funny and sarcastic in person. You and Pastor John Coleman were the tools that God used to pull me out of the Word OF Faith heresy!! I love you both and I know PJ well. You and I know he will be taking no love offering even though he is one of the few who is worthy of it. I kind of wish you were speaking too. A conference for the believer, what a good idea. I hope it help many.
Here’s one that bothers me too. This link to a company called “Wealth Accelerator” features at the very top of the “bio” page a fellow from Denver. It tells how he “travels the globe teaching people the principles of how to become independently wealthy”, etc. and how their son and daughter “work alongside” them. Nowhere in that bio does it say anything about him being a PASTOR. Is it just me or is this completely messed up?

this is because the wealth accelerator is totally separate from the ministry. he has invested into real estate and now he teaches others how to do that. because of that he now no longer takes any money from the church. how many other preachers do that?
Now that’s a trick question for a pimp. Where does he get the money for real estate? From his (fill in the blanks). He’s got game.
Watch that line, “I’m doing this so I don’t have to take a dime from the church!” That’s how my former pastor hood-winked the congregation. The next thing we know, the “real estate investor” he brought to grow the church’s building fund was being investigated by the federal authorities.
And as the following blogger said, “Where did he get the money for the initial real estate purchases?” Hmmmm?

I wish I could attend but living in Greece makes it difficut to say the least. I will be praying for all to go well!
I’ve been praying regarding holding a similar conference here in Europe. The UK is flooded with pimps and other countries are following suit. I doubt that Greece will have these problems because the pimps have to get permission from the church to speak or hold a meeting. They are so tight over here that I had to get permission to start my blog due to the content matter!
Keep on keeping on my brother. I will try and post a bit more often over here now that things are slowing down a bit at the tennis club.

Man! I knew the Greeks were a tight-fisted bunch. I lived there for a little over a year back in the seventies. They actually seem to present a really good reason to keep Government from promoting any particular religion.

Yea, the Orthodox Church keeps a tight reign. Scientology tried to comein here a few years ago but got ran out.

Did you learn any greek while you were here? When I first came over here, I tried using my seminary learned Khoine Greek. Didn’t work lol! I’m much better now though!
Talk about conferences. You definitely are right. Some are all about one thing “gimme a dollar please”, and the word of God is nowhere to be found.
I know quite a few preachers that schooled me on a lot of these big time conferences. One told me that they will fly you in if you are a big time guest. Before you get there they get your itinerary and what you will need during your stay. They have the gall to ask you will you need hookers, drugs, little boys, little girls, or whatever floats your boat. Another told me that he always prays and fasts before he goes if he is invited. If the Lord says yes he will go, but he says a lot of times the Holy Ghost warns him before going on what to do and not to do. Sometimes not to go out with them to eat or to just stay in his room. He also said sometimes he can’t even take anything from them, not plane fare or even room expenses. He will go, give them the word God gave him and is outta there just like the Lord told him. One pastor told me that it has gotten so bad that if the Lord tells him to go, he always takes his wife with him. He makes sure that whatever hotel he stays in that they do not use his name at the desk. He says that these people will send “Welcoming Commitees” to your room so you have to be very careful, prayed up, and make sure it is God’s will for you to take a lot of these engagements or you can be mislead.
I thought this stuff was only in the movies but speaking with these gentlemen on a one on one basis really opened my eyes to a lot of this greedy heresy. it would be so refreshing to go to a conference and just hear the true gospel preached and not be bombarded with all this prosperity can you spare a dime garbage.

I can not fathom even remotely this happening
unless of course both the pastor and the people
sponsoring the event are both crooked and evil
and as such, like responds to like.
I agree with Melvin as to the carnality of seeing these
conventions tagged with the supernatural or the
extra-ordinary is promised.
These are just fleshly hooks to get gullible people to
pay the entry fee into the circus.
What times we are living in!
Lafe, I very much wish I was exaggerating but I know these pastors and evangelists personally. It is just so easy to get caught up into that world and its the enemy. I am an evangelist myself and have watched many get the warnings from their pastors and even my pastor about the dangers of going into the lions den without the Spirit of God leading and guiding you. But they don’t fast and pray or heed the warnings. The big names start calling for them and there they go its “Your Time To Shine”. They get caught up in the lifestyle, fame, glamour, and money and lose all sight on spirituality and God running in those circles. We call it taking the package. One guy I know in particular had started evangelizing and we all knew he was destined for pastorship. He could preach and break the word down so wonderfully. He was just skillfull and was very annointed and they started garnering after him. Pastor’s got jealous of him and his head got large. He messed around and started taking that package. Next thing he was one of the ones they were sending the hookers to his room. He started going to small time strip clubs and pretending that he was somebody famous and getting favors from these women under false pretenses. He went way down and even did jail time. He said he got caught up and that evil got on him so that it just had his mind and the only thing that was gonna deliver him was Jesus. He said it took him getting put in jail to realize he had to make a change and start back running after God.
When I see these pastors taking all this money and doing nothing for the people but fleecing them and taking advantage. I know it is just another form of taking that package. The package that the enemy gives, greed, lust, and selfish, self-centered, seeking to serve self mentality.
CF, I hope your comments are greatly exaggerated. I fear they are not. About 12 years ago I had the misfortune to see the riders for contacted gospel “artists”. A rider is the detaled info required for the musician/singer(s). It made me so angry to see what these fame lusting phonies needed to come sing for you (certainly not for Jesus!). As a gospel singer who has often paid my own way for the opportunity to be a blessing to the LORD’s people I didn’t want to be associated with that mess. I now only sing in churches, hospitals and nursing homes at sick and death beds and I love it.
My wife was once interested in bringing a very famous female, TV minister to Boston. This was about 16 years ago. We recieved her request for a contract in the mail. The required info was how many attended the morning service, the evening service, midweek, etc., WHY? I guess so they could have a good idea of how many fleeced sheep there would be after their departure. We tore it up and threw it in the trash. Can you imagine Paul, the apostle sending his contract and rider to the Macedonian church. “Come on over and help us!” Uhhuh, as soon as you return the contract. I’ve also been a guest at conferences/convocations where the big name people get extra attention, ammenities ans better accomodations. It is really twisted. These fakers need to read the epistle of James. My eyes were also wide open after several of those experiences. May the LORD bring humility and purity to His church.
Amen, saint james. Our pastor had started a conference in our city once yearly to try and promote a more wholesome spiritual conference for the people. He would contact other pastor friends of his here and even in other states to come and do these revivals in hopes of reaching the people and opening their eyes to more spirituality and less give me something gospel. Needless to say we have been doing it for about 5 or 6 years but this year we did not. He said that the fees they had began to charge were so grossly outrageous that the church just could not afford to advance that much money for the 5 nights we would host the events. Then to add insult to injury, many of them wanted their commissions up front, plane fare, hotel accomadations, and cars waiting for them when they arrived. If an offering was raised they also wanted 50% of that. We are not even speaking of the big wheels. We are just dealing with some of the pastors that he fellowships from time to time out of state. It was pitiful that it had to come to this. He was really upset about it because we had started looking forward to the conferences every year, but he says it is a sign of the times.

All I can say is, I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind, but now I see…and I’m NOT talking about the day I accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, I’m talking about being “set free” from the deception and false teachers in the Kingdom of God. My prayer is that other “deceived” sheep will have the eyes of their understanding enlightened and escape before they too fall in the ditch. Keep being the vessel God is using you for at such a time as this to expose the wolves that are preaching “another gospel”

Though I have never spoken with Pastor John personally, I know him through a close friend and he has done a great deal of service for the body of Christ. Saiko also stands tall for the Lord. His passion for the Glory of God is immeasurable. His passion for sound doctrine and orthodoxy is even greater. I wish I could make it this year, but maybe next. Hopefully they can put one on in the Dirty, Dirty next time. Houston is beautiful this time of the year!
