Yes, I know I said I would not send any more traffic to LSW’s site. But I was surfing while waiting for the rice to finish cooking and went by his site. I go there maybe once a week to see what’s going on. I have his bookmark in a folder labeled “Useless Preachers.”
I had thought there was some hope for LSW. I thought perhaps as he matured and understood the responsibility he and his elders have toward the people under their care, he would actually pay attention. But I guess not.
He seems, instead, to be getting worse and moving further out into the territory of Pimposity.

(MN: You have to understand that this guy does not deal in issues. And he doesn’t look at things honestly.
Examples:
1. He says no one calls out Graham, Hybels, Warren and other pimps of non-color. And he says he reads the posting on such sites as this one. If he reads the postings, he would know that I cover these guys. And if he still insists on making the statement, then he simply isn’t telling the truth.
2. He says the site has the same stuff as the gossip columns. I only quote the pimps and show you stuff from their sites. He knows this yet is determined to attempt to minimize the information.
3. He doesn’t deal with the issue of what the men and women say and do. He apparently wants people to stay silent and do nothing.
4. He actually seems somewhat racist by insisting that the term “pimp” belongs primarily to Black culture refering to Black men. Nothing could be further from the truth. The word actually comes out of the 1600s.
But again, I have come to expect nothing more than the drivel he normally turns out.

Lafe: That is a great article. This has been my issue with my former church exactly. So many books, seminars and videos that were studied and promoted there were heresies by proxy. I, too, back then (not that long ago) was party to this dereliction of duty. I have repented and mean to stay repented by all the grace God will give me to do so.
I am afraid about being a teaching elder, which I have been called to for many years. I have, only in the past few years, realized that I was a frog in the kettle, leading others into it by omission of my duty to guard them from error. I still have concerns about what else I have picked up and promoted over the years that is the result of private interpretation of the apostles’ doctrine.
Thankfully, much of the dust is settling and I have a clean broom with which to sweep out leaven.

He also is showing his ignorance of the blog world because the following blogs - A Little Leaven, Slice of Laodicea(before its demise), Apprising Ministries and Primitive Jesus Christology attack these very preachers and do not use very “nice” words - in fact, pulpit pimps is less harsh than some of the terms these other blogs use in decribing what these preachers are doing and the harsh words are very well deserved. These men and women are doing the same thing you are doing Mr. Jones which is to warn Christians of false teachers (they just focus more on non-black preachers).

This is eerie! I live in Memphis, and I just saw his advertisement. I clicked on your site to mention it, and saw this post.
I was going to ask him, by comment, “So can I take this to mean that the COGIC endorses and teaches the belief that Jesus was less than God, and that man is ‘more than just a man,’ as well as the rest of the WoF, faith in Faith lies?”
This is outrageous! This guy (Stephen) promotes nothing but heretics, it seems. My wife grew up COGIC, and I used to play in the band of the late O’landa Draper, whose choir and doctrine were heavily pentecostal. I have seen so much aberrant teaching in that environment. It is distressing and frustrating to have to reteach, in a sense, those in my sphere about some of the doctrines, especially that you don’t build an ENTIRE worldview from the book of Acts, and from the occurrences on THAT day of Pentecost.
I am a pastor in the COGIC and in no way would I allow this man to come into God’s house. I see this issue of falsehood facing the church as a whole, and we who stand upon the truth of God’s word must fight against this spirit of religious falsehood. Organized religion always takes bits and peaces of God’s Word to form their religious beliefs I don’t care what they call their denomination. Some times I feel like I am fighting a hopeless battle and then the Spirit of God reminds me of a few things.
Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Speaking of Jesus being less than God:
My brother’s ex, was a preacher’s kid in the COGIC, and she argued with my brother over the deity of Christ. In other words, she believed that Jesus wasn’t God, just the Son of God, DUH!
She was so biblically illiterate, to where she couldn’t understand that the term “Son of God,” denoted Christ’s equality with God.
Anyway, she’s not the only COGIC member, who seem to be confused about the nature of the Godhead, christology, and the like.
Any feedback on Bishop Nathaniel Holcolmb with Christian House of Prayer in Killeen, TX. I believe him to be a line upon line teacher of the word…

It is a small world indeed. I know Holcolmb from my days in Killeen back in the early 80’s. At that time, he was very small and struggling. Of course, things have changed. Now, to make a long story short, Holcomb is pretty much a Word of Faith Minister! He ascribes to all of their doctrines…even if he does it “line upon line.” My advice is to check him out very thoroughly as I don’t think he has changed over the years!

Give it a rest…You know how LSW is; you’ve known for a while. So really, this should come as no surprise. And after looking at his site when he first popped up on PP, this latest post is no worse than some of the others (hence he “crossed the line” before). Instead of directing traffic to his site for stuff like this (which he seems to get excited about since it makes his visitors number jump), let’s wait and see if he posts something of substance. That way you won’t have to feel some kind of way on directing attention to his site.
(MN: He has never actively endorsed this guy. He has pictures of various folks, and has kind of promoted Noel Jones by posting a couple clips of his sermons. But I don’t believe he has ever actively campaigned for the likes of Creflo Dollar.

Promotion of Creflo removes all doubt of endorsing pimps. Even when I was in Eddie Long’s assembly, many of us there felt Creflo was the bad guy. Creflo is the most blatant of all.
I really didn’t get the nerve to actually LEAVE Eddie Long’s assembly until he started hooking up with Creflo. That’s when I had more than enough confirmation that Long was just dirty.
Creflo’s false doctrine stinks even to many who feel the false prosperity doctrine otherwise smells sweet.
As I said I would, I posted my question to him in the wee hours last night. I automatically posted, and I thought I would awake with a battle on my hands in terms of heated reponses. Instead, I found that he removed my comment! Why would he do this if he were secure in his actions?
Incidentally, in order to suggest the term “pimp” is a racist one as he does on his site, one would have to make the RACIST assumption that the only pimps are Black. Stephen F. Smith!
As well, I have seen such men as Osteen, Crouch, Copeland, the Hagins, Hagee, Parsley, Avanzini, Oral Roberts, and many other White men termed as such. That is a useless canard employed, I believe, to deflect from the fact that MANY of those being “prostituted” are Black, and that many of our Black preachers focus more on an emotional experience and preaching “style” than on biblical exposition and exegesis.

Is the Term Pulpit Pimp Racist?

I enjoy how he acts like he’s no pimp himself. Acting like it’s the other guys while he’s promoting the biggest one of all.
And while we could think of the sermons G. E. Patterson gave that were rooted in sound doctrine, LSW has gone and found a Name It and Claim It sermon where Patterson sends the hatchet to Matthew 6:33. Now if I’m seeking the “kingdom”, why would I seek God for more than my daily bread, in petitioning for “wants” along with “needs”?
When will these folks come to their senses? Will the Lord open their eyes to know that Matthew 6:11 relates directly to Exodus 16 and all who took more than a day’s worth (except before the Sabbath) SUFFERED LOSS? Christ did not say petition God for “wants” in prayer, he said ask the Father for OUR DAILY BREAD.
Then in the clip Patterson hits OT text about blessings and says it’s to “establish His covenant”. That was for Israel to prepare the way for the Messiah. It’s not found in New Covenant scripture that saints are guaranteed an abundance. The “covenant” has already been established. I think Patterson needed to put on a yarmulke while talking like that.
It’s as bad as Steve Munsey’s atonement scam minus the request (at that time) for money. Oh, did I call out a White Pulpit Pimp? Does Melvin call out Peter Popoff and others?
True enough, we use what the Lord blesses us with to do as He commands, however, Patterson failed to note that you could be totally faithful to the Lord, die broke and have your head cut off like Paul. And that kind of result was the result for MANY recorded in new covenant scripture.
Then Patterson talks about “name it claim it”, then offers an example where God told Abraham about something, but this is not a case where Abraham “claimed” anything. Abraham believed what GOD TOLD HIM, NOT WHAT HE TOLD GOD. When did GOD say we should name and claim wants and needs? God said “daily bread”.
Now having said that, living in America. Who that heard Patterson’s sermon was starving to death? And if someone was, who’s job was it to meet that need?
I praise God for saving me from that foolish doctrine and helping me find men who speak THE TRUTH.
How many times in the clip did Patterson speak of the riches and perfect health coming in Heaven, while on earth these things come as the Lord wills and some suffer and need prescriptions like Paul recommends to Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:23? ZERO. Just the way LSW likes it.
My old church runs this SAME game (atonement offering). It’s not a “mega” church by any means…It has about 100 regular attenders…I questioned them about it and have been told that I’m “deceived by Satan” and that I “don’t love God.” They refuse to answer any questions I posed to them concerning a scriptural basis for taking an atonement offering because they claim to have “revelation from the desktop of heaven.” I’ve also been told that I should know better than to question “what God has ordained” It seems hopeless.

Yeah, I remember that time, but I missed the part about comments being deleted. It’s one thing to not approve them for lewdness, or foulness, etc., but another to see them posted and THEN delete them for no reason but that they disagree with or challenge you. Post it and ignore it. That’s fine, but delete it?
It just shows a level of disingenuousness to do that, I think, rather than address the issue presented. As I said, I thought the Big Eye was going to turn and notice me and seek to devour me. I had my loins all girded up and everythang!

I like the site. I’m more of a melvanite than not. A couple comments/opinion that I am sure has been addressed elsewhere and perhaps by someone else, so please don’t shun me to the plagiarism penitentiary.
I agree, many of these preachers become blinded. I don’t think it’s necessarily intentional by all, at least initially. One MAJOR thing that is lacking is these preachers be willing and open to correction. Of course these blogs aren’t obsolete, but what good does it do TD, Paula, Benny, et al. if they don’t read, consider, and accept the critiques? How to get them to listen? Well, yeah, that’s the problem. I commented to my wife recently that these megachurch preachers are untouchable; they surround themselves with an inner circle, “yes” people, etc.
2nd: I’m still waiting for a reply to my inquiry in another post about where the “watch this” phrase came from.
Likewise, where did this Partnership phenomenon start? “Be a partner with MY ministry… no no, be a partner with MY ministry so we can reach the world because we are better than them” that’s essentially what they are saying. I can become quite livid about that.
3rd or 4th: In response to other posts where that plead to leave these strong “men of god” alone… my question is what makes them men of God? Because they say so? Because YOU say so? Because they have a big church?
Last, it’s too bad I can’t seem to find a group with this much energy and passion to deprogram/proselytize mormons. This group of people are heavy on my heart, and I confess I don’t frequently have Love leading me, especially for the leaders.
