We are to give to the poor and we store up for ourselves riches in Heaven for doing so IF we do it in secret, Matthew 6. But the "pressed, shaken and running over" mention in Luke 6:36-38 is all about mercy. That one is not about giving money. If you look at those verses in NKJV and ESV the quote breaks are better identified for easier reading of that passage of scripture. Not saying NKJV and ESV are superior to all others, just that they help provide clarity. Since those translations keep things in more of a paragraph structure as the words were originally written and show the quote marks clearly.

When they tell someone their salary, they should just tell them the amount minus 10% .

Where else can you be fired for not PAYING THE EMPLOYER but when working for a pimp  ?

Tithing was of the Levitical Law which was done away and false preachers use tithing to rob their congregation and to fatten their pockets. False preachers use the God Robbing tactic to cause their congregation to feel so bad if they don't tithe so that they (the false preachers) keep you paying all the time and on time...using that God will give back to you pressed down shaken together and running over they say. But the bible says: give (to the poor......not to you r pastor or the church) expecting nothing; and He (God) will repay you with good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.

@Ashamed of you people.

Fired for not paying tithes?

In your church you have to pay them tithes to stay employed? If its that serious, just take it out of their pay check like my union does my paycheck.

You have to associate the means of the time when Jesus was on the earth to the times we are currently in. Meaning...as times have changed so have the qualities of life. (horse drawn carriage vs. cars) The disciples that Jesus had traveling with him were not poor men..read your bible. this is only a forum where disgruntled people post there thoughts and outside views not even knowing the people they are talking about. You people are worst than the media. All of the lies you speak of on this forum, you will be judged for each one of them. Did you ever think Hilliard got rich from investments? What about the other preacher here in Houston with 6 locations? You guys never talk about him. (Crab mentality) If anything Hilliard is doing was illegal, believe me, the "other" people would love to take him down as much as you guys tear him down. Be honest with yourself....if you do not know the facts, don't comment.

(MN: First, I suggest you at least get a "Bible Life" encyclopedia. I can't believe you are parroting the words of such luminaries as Price, Copeland, and Avanzini. Indeed the disciples were not necessarily dirt poor, but they were not filthy rich as the pimps try to make you believe.

Just out of curiosity, what lies have I posted? Is it the one about Copeland getting a new jet? Is it perhaps the one that demonstrated the lack of bible knowledge and willingness to stand for the gospel on the part of Joel Osteen. Or maybe it's the one where Fast Eddie told the congregation the Holy Spirit had given him a sermon that he had really gotten off the internet. It's easy enough to say I'm lying. Any poor sheeple can blurt that. It's more difficult to demonstrate that the things I have posted are not true, especially when I can show from their own words that the things I say are in fact true. Sheeple are allowed here. But only as long as they keep their snouts closed, baaahhh quietly in the corner, and listen. )

Hey SoliDGF, according to Texas Marketing Research Firm, these mega churches spent 8.1 billion dollars in 2006 alone on audio and projection technology. One church said that they felt it was important that the parents have internet access while that wait for their children who were in Bible study (God forbid if there was no internet and these parents had to read their Bibles and do some evangelizing while they were waiting on their children).

In addition, one couple who recently came out of the prosperity church- was in the process of losing their home, for they were going through some financial hardship, so they went to the church for help, but the church told them that they could not help them, yet this very same church bought their pastor a $40,000 rolllex watch shortly after. (This was the couple's eye opener concerning the prosperity gospel)

You know these pimps always talk about how people put money at the diciples feet, yet they never read or discuss further in the scripture where it says that the diciples took that money and split it equally according to every one's needs. (I guess this does not fit in with their counterfeit Jesus or gospel.)

Hey "Ashamed of you people",

How can God be robbed of a debt paid in the blood of Christ?

How can a saint fall to a curse when redeemed from the curse of the law, Galatians 3?

Please show us where the Apostles in their MANY letters to churches instructed them to be certain to pay 10% of money wages?

In fact, please show me somewhere in the Bible where ANYONE paid 10% of money wages from labor?

I hope asking you to show me these things from your Bible is not asking too much.

I had no Idea that ("5 locations, drug rehab for men & women") determined the spiritual fruit of a teacher.

I guess Jesus didnt have much fruit according to those standards.... I mean ,,,,Jesus only had a few disciples, and Hilliard has 5 church locations!!!!

Heres the equation:
Multiple churches + rehab centers = Godly fruit

If this is true, then wheres Jesus fruit from His teachings Susie??

There is nothing for the government to "crack down" on pertaining to Hilliard. He is not one of the 6 whose church records have been requested by the government. Say what you want about Pastor Hilliard, he does not cheat on his wife, he does not rob the church of the tithes and he has "fruit" from his teachings. (5 locations, drug rehab for men & women, etc...) Just admit you do not understand how he obtained so much wealth. My husband and I are givers to his ministry and we are very blessed, spiritually and naturally. Instead of tearing these men of God down, pray for them. Stop making your flesh feel good!!!!

I just found this on little Sammy's web site:
Prosperity Overflow

He's got a picture of a really nice car and money on one of the fliers. Looks just like a Master P CD case! But Sammy has a new title would go well on one of those cases:
"NO MORE LACK BROKE DAYS ARE OVER"

Apparently he took a trip to South Korea back in October and fleeced them good!

Notice he does not claim Nigeria or where ever he's originally from. He's claiming Los Angeles California! You know so many people have figured out scammers come from Nigeria :D .

I considered myself to be well-versed in all of the angles the prosperity/WoF teachers use to get one to "sow a seed" into their ministries, but this one is new to me, and as appalling as any of their hooks.

I came across INSP's fundraising appeal last night with David Cerullo and Larry Huch, and was astounded to hear Huch declare that if someone had previously "sowed a seed" but had never obtained a "breakthrough", it could be that the breakthrough had been "blocked" - yes, "blocked", perhaps by a curse! Of course, he had a remedy for that pesky problem - "sow" another "seed" to break the curse and release the blocked breakthrough blessing! Cerullo concurred, indicating that one could "reverse the curse" by "sowing" that seed. What if THAT breakthrough gets "blocked" again - must I sow another seed?? How much money/seed does it take to get Satan's mitts off my breakthrough? Or, How much money/seed does the Lord require to release the breakthrough that He owes me? How many times am I allowed to "reverse the curse"?

These declarations by Huch and Cerullo are delivered by them to their audience with unquestioned, brazen confidence and authority.

Amazing!

Brah,

Government sponsoring something religious in nature doesn't necessarily equate to them having control to the religion itself.

For goodness sake, keep up with the news. There have been many examples where the government has done this & the results have been just fine.

For example, I recently finished a project in class regarding the issue of teaching classes on the Bible in public schools. Senate Bill 79 was recently passed in Georgia, which orders the school board to prepare electives in the History and Literature of the New and Old Testament.

The Georgia law was the first to set statewide guidelines and allocate public dollars on all-inclusive Bible courses, but Democrats/Republicans couldn't come to a consensus about the curriculum that should be taught. Democrats suggested that the textbook "The Bible and Its Influence" be used as it has gained support from Jewish and Christian leaders.

(MN: I don't reall care who he has gained the support of. Let's see - the State [godless as it is] then decides that the Koran should be taught - as a historica/literary document. Oh, and while we're at it, the Bagavad Ghita, the Book of Mormon, the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and the Egyptian Book of the Dead should be taught - for historical and literary purposes. Granted I'm pulling this all the way out, but it appears to be necessary since your indoctrination into the state sponsored welfare system has you more than willing to turn to Government for solutions. As the great Ronoldus Magnus said: Government is not the solution. Government is the problem. Government wants to take away your freedoms and will do so at every opportunity. It should be kept out of the house, off the porch, and chained to a stake in the front yard. )

The scope of the problem was found in the fact that policy and legal experts were confused about the basis of the approved voluntary electives and whether teaching the Bible in public schools violates the so-called separation of church and state. And moreover,

More specifically, many of the board's standards didn't tell schools what kind of lessons will be appropriate, other than saying the Bible should be used as the "basis text" and suggesting teachers read the new state law--which prohibits the courses from being used for indoctrination or devotional study & " turning a public-school classroom into a Sunday-school classroom". (MN: And who determines what indoctrination is? If the teacher is constantly prattling on about the lack of inspiration and the non-existence of prophecy, does that count as indoctrination or an atheist devotion? The fact that one side wouldn't be allowed to engage in certain activities, doesn't mean the other side can't. Who within Government would decide this sort of thing? )

Though this seemed to be a problem, some positive suggestions were made such as simply focusing on the clear facts that couldn't be disputed, such as the historical evidence of the Bible & the differing eras in which biblical events took place...... (MN: The wall around Jericho fell - no it didn't. There was no Jericho. Oh, by the way, there was no David, Goliath, ark of the covenant, Abraham, or Adam and Eve. Oh, and the Israelites never migrated from Egypt to Palestine, and the sea certainly didn't part. Whose view of what is factual and what is not will be used? )

& moreover, the material was presented OBJECTIVELY; not teaching everything presented it as fact but simply as a theory to be examined for oneself..... (MN: Have you ever watched a liberal being objective? All that means is they won't cuss you out to your face. )

The same takes place with other things religious in nature, such as EVOLUTION/SECULAR HUMANISM. They used to be taught as FACT but now must have the textbooks labeled with "THEORY" labels on them before proceeding to expose them to the public (MN: Secular humanism is not labeled as theory. It's not even honestly taught as secular humanism. SOME Places have labels added to the books explaining that the theory of evolution is exactly that, a theory. But people have fits even when you do that little bit.

Your naive arguments for the involvement of Government in the realm of religion has, in my opinion, gone exactly no where. But rather than me deciding as the Benevolent Dictator to shut your contributions down [in my view they amount to nothing more than noise, with no real value being added to the conversation] I want the rest of the folks to help me out. Should GDub be allowed to continue to contribute to this thread? In fact, should this thread even continue? )

Critical thinking was required for both. Students were forced to make certain they had all the facts on the issue, were open to studying new ideas/questioning what they heard instead of blindly accepting it.

Likewise, it makes logical sense that the same can be applied for Religious Critical Thinking ADS. They would simply show the facts behind what the religion actually represented, give examples of the abuses that took place, & serve to raise questions as to whether or not one should believe in it.....and what dangers to be aware of when entering into it.

What one did with the information afterward would be on them......but at least they were challenged.
