Ladies and gentlemen, in one month, John Coleman will be coming to Prince Georges County to present his traveling “Basics of the Faith”.
I’ve spent the last couple of weeks trying to locate a space for us. I had thought perhaps I could hold the session in one of the hotels around here. The average cost for just Saturday? $2000. After I picked my teeth up from the floor, I attempted to be a bit more creative in coming up with a resource. No dice.
But that’s not why I’m writing this posting.
I need a head count of who is going to attend. A couple of people said they are planning on it. However, I, that is, some demon - yeah that’s it - some demon made me misplace the names and e-mails/comments of the folks who said they are attending. If you would, please let me know if you are planning on attending. The e-mail address is in the image below. I did that so I wouldn’t get a bunch of junk e-mails from web-crawlers and other creations of unpleasant people who frequent the web.

Write me today - I will then send you my phone number and I can continue planning for the session.
I look forward to meeting you. I’ve spoken to some of you, and I’ve heard some of you on a couple of radio broadcasts. But it will be good to see you in the flesh.
I’ll try to get rid of my horns by then (Friday and Saturday - August 3 and 4th).
I will be attending. Can I bring a friend?
THANKS
I just went to his site last night and I wish I could attend so stand like men for the true men and women of GOD.
keep UP THE WORK SORRY I CANT MAKE IT BUT JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS AND CONTINUE TO OPEN THE EYES OF THE FLOCK
“I will be attending. Can I bring a friend?”
Good grief Boardie……….do you have to take that inflatable Jesus doll EVERYWHERE??
Well yeah, I mean considering the fact that all my friends, have decided to take a plunge into the “abyss” by following new age teachings, such as the “prosperity gospel”, “word of faith”, “pentecostal” foolishness. Why are you judging me? Have you read matt 7:1-5. At least my “Jesus doll” is better than your Eddie Long bodybuilder G-I-JOE toy. LOL!
I can top them both with my Jan Crouch head that I can apply makeup to and give her corn rows.
Yeah, but I got the deluxe Eddie Long doll with the “Tithe and Offering Kung Fu Grip” !!!
Gary V, let me ask you this question since I know you will answer it anyway.(smile).. This is off current subject so here goes. Did jesus ever “teach” the multitude(crowd)? I see missed something here as these guys like to “teach” the Multitude, giving away the “mysteries” of the Kingdom.
You know, I never thought of it that way AJ.
So maybe we should do like the Catholic church used to do and forbid people from reading the Bible?
It’s all out there. Regardless of what those who won’t accept the Lord feel, we have no reason to hide our words.
The apostles spoke openly without mystery when they taught a multitude of people. They taught all who would hear and even went places they were run away from. They went and spoke in public in places where they feared to go themselves and the Lord told them to go anyway, Acts 18:10.
While the Lord spoke in parables and mysteries, the apostles never did. We don’t know who in the multitude will be called by the Lord. Jesus knew who was called to Himself, so he could segregate his speech as He desired. We are to go into the world and spread the message of Jesus Christ. If the world reads these words, wonderful. If I find someone is truly a dog, than sure no pearl will be tossed to them intentionally, however, we must spread all that we know of our Lord to the world and His own will hear the call.
The “mysteries” are the same things atheists twists to try and keep those who the Lord will call locked in unbelief. We have nothing to hide and open discussion helps those who are called and trying to find the way.
Anybody that wants to go “secret society” with the message of Christ, mysteries included, you go right ahead, but I’ll be sharing with the public. Even if you feel only some should be told publicly, do what you wish, I’ll share with the public, because there are people who benefit. Never mind those who reject Christ.
(Sigh).
IC, I never said we are to be a “secret society”. I asked the question: Did Jesus teach the multitude? I am in the midst of a study on the multitude and had questions. So far, I see Jesus only taught the multitudes in PARABLES and he stated that it was not given to “them” to know the mysteries of the Kingdom.(Matt 13:11) Now, it depends on how you look at the Great Commission when you use “teaching” versus “preaching”. In Mark 16:11 he commanded them to preach and in Matthew 28:20 he told them to TEACH them all they He had COMMANDED(taught?) them. I ask this question: What is the purpose of “teaching” and “preaching?” Where am I going with this you may ask? I believe(disclaimer: Just my opinion so far) that preaching is to draw the unbelievers (Rom:10:14) and teaching(the mysteries of the kingdom) is for the believers. So with that being said, why are mega churches and the likes on TV trying to teach unbelievers( I can understand TBN as it is supposed to be christian tv) when they really should be preaching the gospel(it is no secret in how to become a believer). Why should an unbeliever tune in to watch; let’s say, Creflo Dollar “Teach” on the SECRET THINGS OF THE KINGDOM versus REPENT AND ACCEPT THE LORD JESUS(you know, the Gospel 1Cor 1:17-18)) when the unsaved cannot receive what he is saying anyway.(1Cor 2:14).
Now IC, Gary V and the like, I could be wrong in my assessments and will stand corrected(in love) if wrong, but should not Television be used for Preaching the Gospel to “win” souls versus Teaching to bring in millions?
The whole TV model is a waste of money that could be used to help poor saints and other forms of outreach ministry. The overhead costs make such mass media efforts a bad venture from the start.
How is there a “secret” when anybody can read a Bible? That’s what I’d like to know.
Jesus in preparing His apostles taught them in private about secrets. But when they had the Holy Spirit they spoke openly and told men freely what the Lord told them.
Of course the sinner IF YOU KNOW YOU’RE ONLY TALKING TO SINNERS would be given a more basic salvation message.
Babes in Christ IF YOU KNOW YOU’RE ONLY TALKING TO BABES IN CHRIST get milk and are led up to meat.
However, in a mixed setting, one must speak as the Lord leads.
Your initial question to GaryV I noticed related to what is done here:
We are in a mixed setting and talking about matters beyond the basics of salvation to only people who fully understand would require intentional segregation of readers to this blog and it would create more problems than actual benefits. Given the mixed setting and the fact the apostles addressed some “mysterious” things even in the open I see no reason to conceal anything here from anyone.
Maybe a babe can’t handle it, maybe an unbeliever won’t make sense of it. They can ask a reasonable question if they wish. Even the unbeliver and babe can pick up scripture and what if they come across one of those “mysteries”? Mysteries that Jesus fully explained and are in scripture in plain English? Oh my, they got a mystery and read it
.
Should a church pastor have “special no babes allowed” sessions to speak to certain saints? I say no. Let all come and tie whatever is discussed to redemption through Jesus Christ.
Should Melvin in writing an essay say “I wrote it but you’ve got to prove to me you’re not a babe or unbeliver before I let you read it”?
I think we are well beyond trying to conceal anything.
I get your point. Good response. No need to address this any further. thank you.
Melvin,
I live in Cali, and John definatly tells it like it is. I’m am glad you have the privelege to have this man teaching you the basics. BTW, did you hear his show on Saturday?
