If they were reading the Bible enough they’d have already heard the Lord telling them to leave way back. But some people feel the Lord is anywhere they get a good “shout” on .

For some folks it’s not about TRUE adherence to scripture, but whatever feels good. Which is how Terry Hornbuckle was able to get them all there in the first place.

If you didn’t see the problems when the top pimp was there, you might not figure it out even after he’s behind bars.

I left and not one single person had made fun of me. I can think for myself, read God’s word for myself, and give praise, honor,and glory to GOD, not Renee Hornbuckle, I was a member for a very very long time, I saw the arogrance, I’m better than any of you attitude, and I could see he was a womanizer and she knew he was also. You mentioned that “the substance of his preaching is questionable”. That is the key. It is your responsibility as a Christian to know the Word of God. As someone has said, you must be so familiar with the authentic Word of God that you will spot false doctrine a mile away. Along with knowing the Word for yourself, you must weigh what this preacher is teaching against that Word. If indeed he is departing from the essentials of the Christian faith, i.e, the Trinity (one God who subsists in three distinct persons), the virgin birth of Jesus, the sinless life of Christ, the substitutional atonement of Jesus’s death on the cross, the bodily resurrection of Christ, etc., then you are required to seperate from him (unless he recants and repents).

This is nothing to play with. False teaching is detrimental to you and your daughter’s growth as a Christian and further more it is a virtual giving of approval to remain under it.

My daughter had recently asked me why when it’s time to collect the tithes and offerings in her church, the minister there pulls out a wad full of cash and drops it in the plate. This is my sister’s church and I have met their minister a several times. He seems nice and we went out bowling with him one day. Truthfully, and I must be honest, the substance of his preaching is questionable and making the church pay for usher uniforms and other things my daughter says is questionable as well. They are faithful tithers but yet when my daughter needed a sponsor for a beauty pageant she wanted to participate in, no response and no sponsors. I was informed that he owns two houses, one in each state. They’ve attended this church for five years and I haven’t said a word about what I think. I don’t know what to say to my daughter. Any comments or suggestions?

your comments just came across as being mean which i didn’t see it as being necessary. i didn’t think that i came across as being angry but if i did i apologize. i don’t have the authority to make you put whatever i want you to put into your website. it’s just that i came from the old school and if a person was in sin whether they were a member or in leadership(pastor,evangelist,etc) yes they would be given a good lecture and made to sit down for a season. i have never experienced this before with a pastor being on the news because of their sin nor have i never experienced any websites that discussed these things. now don’t get me wrong, this is not the first time that something like this has happened but it was handled differently. i come from cogic background which those that are familiar with it knows how strict they are (no pants for women or makeup, no movies, etc) i have seen people that talked about hornbuckle and they were doing the same thing or had a spouse that was into the same thing.no i don’t have any websites, but if i did i would talk about those that are preaching the word of god and living by it , and i would pray for those that are not doing what they should be doing even though i know that god will have to deal with them in his own way,but i would pray that they would repent and return back to him.

again, you are being defensive. you are saying get off my butt like i am lazy or something. this is not even called for but alot of times we talk about everyone else and then when someone gets in our face we get mad.and you are so holy and pure. yeah right. i see that you need deliverance from anger but you won’t be so quick to talk on that, only on what others are doing wrong.

(MN: Not being defensive. Simply insisting that you put your money where your mouth is. You have a right to say I’m not doing it correctly. I have the right to tell you to do it the way you think I should be doing it. How is that being defensive?

Here, I don’t want to assume. Do you run a web site that does it the way you think I should be doing it? If not, why not? If you are - why do you care what I’m doing?

By the way, it sounds like you really do have a problem if someone doesn’t bend the way you think they should. What did I say that came across as “so holy and pure”? You sound very much like the typical critic - once I disagree with you and urge you to do what you are telling me to do, you accuse me of being “holy and pure.” But if I use your accusation as a standard, weren’t you being “holy and pure” when you told me I shouldn’t run the site the way I am?

So what’s the deal? If it’s okay for you to tell me what I should do, why can’t I tell you what you should do? Why do you judge me and then get your nose out of joint when I judge you?

to mn, it seems that you are showing alot of unnecessary anger. i did not say what you can and cannot do, i don’t even have that kind of authority. i am just saying that it seems that you are not finding anything positive to say about those that really are walking upright but you are right this is a website about wolves in sheep’s clothing, and i would call the cops if i saw someone being molested, i never said that. what i am saying is that i don’t spend alot of time dwelling on what happened. i don’t approve of it at all but what i am saying is that i will pray for others that may be struggling or have even turned and walked away from god. i hope that someone would do the same for me, even though i wouldn’t expect them to up hold me in my wrongdoing but they shouldn’t hate me or not forgive me.hate the sin not the person.

(MN: I don’t publicize the positive because that is not the purpose of this site. Again, if you want to publicize the positive get off your butt, come up off some cash, and do it. It only costs me around $88/month and more time than I have. Also, again, this site is to warn. You don’t warn once and then be silent. You warn over and over again. New Christians need to be warned. Christians who are beginning to doubt their association with the pimps need to be warned. Family of the pimped need information to work with and a place to point to. Heck, people who just learned to read need to be warned. The warning never stops. After all, the pimps never rest. They are always out looking for a free dollar. And new ones show up every week.

It’s interesting that the first thing those of you who want to modify the purpose of the site say is “You shouldn’t be so negative all the time.” Then, when I don’t agree with you, the next thing you say is “you have anger issues.” It has gone that way virtually without fail.

And finally, you accuse those at this site of not praying for the perpetrators or the victims.

It’s really interesting to watch the progression of the thoughts of those who object in some way or another to the site. )

to black theologian i haven't defended mr. hornbuckle, and i didn't say that i felt that i needed to stay there. i said that i will leave when god tells me that it is my time to go. (MN: And until God magically says you need to go [however he will make that FEELING apparent to you], you NEED to stay there. Otherwise you would FEEL as if you are being disobedient to God. ) i believe that people leave church on their own without consulting god and i believe that they should but until he tells me i will stay there. again i say, i don't worship a man or a woman i go to hear the word. i feel that whatever people are struggling with god will deal with it. i pray for people not look down my nose at them. to my knowlegde pastor renee hornbuckle is a woman of god and i don't see her as a person that is full of herself. (MN: However, she is full enough of herself to go against the Bible when it says that women are not to be pastors. Interesting. ) it seems to me that this website is saying that there are no true women and men of god. (MN: Here, let me be more specific. Any Christian faithful to Christ is a man or woman of God. There is not some special mantle, with a big red MOG emblem on it, given to someone to identify him as a Man of God. Do a search in the New Testament and see how many times that phrase appears. Look at who the term is applied to in the Old Testament and tell me how many men it applied to, as used in the Old Testament. ) i haven't heard one positive word about preachers that do the real work of the lord. (MN: And doubtless the police have not been called out to a house where the husband and wife get along. The site is not here to let you know about pastors who are doing their jobs. It's to warn you about the wolves. If you want to tell people about the pastors who are doing their jobs, get off your butt, shell out a couple of bucks, and start a site called www.pastorsdotheirjobs.com. You can even write out prayers for people to read when they come to your site. Once you do that, after I check out each preacher you recommend, I will send people to your site so they can see pastors who are doing their job. Until then, you don't have jack to say about the coverage, balance, or anything else on this site. You don't get to tell me what I ought to do until you do something besides sitting there showing your lack of understanding. ) i do agree that there are some preachers who have gotten away from the true gospel but i pray for them because god can do a better job of dealing with them than i can. since you feel that i should not stay there, where are the perfect churches that i should attend? and where do you attend church? it everyone there saved, sanctified, and without fault at all times? You see, I happen to know them as I me them through one of my best friends who also pastor’s in Area. The Hornbuckles are full of themselves, not Jesus! As to your little threat of “investigating” people, please be advised that you can be investigated as well! For the record, you can investigate me and I will assure you that you WILL NOT find ANYTHING on me that will shame me or embarrass me!

You can’t make decisions for people. Don’t bad mouth his church. How do you know what your pastor is doing or has already done without your knowledge. You need to think twice before you start calling somebody spirtually immature. By the way, what church do you attend? Nine times out of ten I can dig up dirt on your pastor, I work in investigations sir. Let’s see how you like that. Hornbuckle is gone, in jail. Get over it, and let the man do his time!

(MN: I can say without a doubt that “my pastor” (even when that was John K. Jenkins of First Baptist Church of Glenarden) was never accused and convicted of rape or the use of illegal drugs. I I, like the contributor, will insist that any one who would defend the good bishop (wven while he is serving his time) is immature.

As I have said before, none of this is “digging up dirt.” It is stuff they publicize on their own. If you think it is dirt, why in the world are you defending them? )

I would say that you are obviously spiritually immature if you believe that you should stay there! Why? Mrs. Hornbuckle, while she may be considered one of the “victims” is also a false teacher!

Why would you sit under teachings that is detrimental to your spiritual well-being? It is that kind of teaching that caused your former pastor to fall the way he did.

Hornbuckle was VERY arrogant and self-absorbed! The ministry revolved around “him”, not Christ. And from what I know Renee isn’t going too well in terms of holding the church together!

In fact, the Elders have said that they were giving her a few months to see if there can be a changed in the Church, implying that they are considering a pulpit
change.

If Hornbuckle were to get out, he would expect to resume his role as Pastor, which would be the biggest mockery in Arlington! You think you are being “spiritually fed”, but you are being taken for a ride that will crash very shortly!

i attend agape (hornbuckles) and i must say that i am fed there spiritually. why do you guys still talk about terry hornbuckle? he is in jail and it has almost been a year. people have moved on. i can’t speak for anyone else but i stayed because i don’t worship a man or a woman, i worship jesus and when god tells me that it’s time to go elsewhere then i will go. most of the people that left they did it because people made fun of them and talked them out. most of them verbally stated that they want to come back but they are afraid of what people will say. so are you saying that those of us that stayed are crazy?

As many of us can recall, the days of the pulpit pimps is nothing new under the sun. It goes as far back as Reverend Ike and further more since the apostles. I recall when in the 80’s when my father would get mailings from Reverend Ike asking for donations but now you don’t hear too much about him anymore. He was the epitome of a pulpit pimp and there was no shame in his game. If we would just heed to the word of God regarding false prophets, then we can smell them coming and not heed to false doctrine.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I must say I have learned so much from you, Melvin and others on this site. You all have challenged me to go deeper into the things of God. On this board is a wealth of scriptures to support your posts. You all have shown me scriptures in the bible that I did not know was there. Like I said, people do them selves a disservice when they come here and talk about Melvin, you and others tearing the pimps down, yet they do the same thing. How ironic is that. I know this site was put here to expose the pimpery in the body of Christ. Yet Melvin, you and others are teaching those of us as well about truth. In essence to me this work Melvin is doing is two fold. Melvin keep up the good work and my prayers are with you and your family.

Your quite welcome CE, anything I can do to help another brother/sister out in the faith. Just keep me in your prayers. That I will find another place of fellowship that teaches sound doctrine without the manipulation and mind control. One thing I can say is that I am so glad that I had and still do have a heart for God. (Which is why I got out) I say that because the pastor used to always say that if we did not have a heart for him and his vision then we were not part of the ministry and so therefore we can go somewhere else. The sad thing is many people are still there and would rather worship the creation rather than the creator who is blessed for ever. I was one that questioned things that I felt was not right or out of order, so of course I was talked about from the pulpit and then the (spineless) “Elders” board I don’t want to get started there. Like I said just keep me in your prayers as I will do you.
