I’ve been complaining and warning you about the pimps out there. I’ve been telling you about the importance of reading and studying your Bible so you can be immunized against the voracious pimps and pimpettes cruising for your wallets and pocketbooks. One of the best ways to do that is to make sure you are solid on the basics; that you know the basics; that you know what you believe and why you believe it.

John (Atilla the Hun) Coleman has created a traveling Christian training program and he is willing to travel all over the country to present it, for free. Free. At no cost to you; not even a love offering. All I have to do is get enough people together, coordinate the resources for a one and a half day period, and find a place for John to present the course.

This posting is to get that process going. Who, in the Washington DC area (centered around Prince Georges County is interested in attending the training?

I won’t write a great deal this time around. The previous posting said it all. But I want you to see what foolishness is perpetrated by church leaders who have no substance to preach with respect to the Gospel. I suspect these poor men and women in the audience (I really can’t think of them as a congregation) are ill-equipped to resist the lure of Pulpit Pimps. Their pastor should be taken out and flogged.

Let me make sure I understand this. The fellow cutting the rug is under the influence of the Spirit - he is supposedly “filled with the Spirt,” perhaps even drunk with the Spirit. But one has to wonder how this relates to Ephesians 5:18 through most of chapter 6 where Paul explains what being filled with the Spirit looks like in the believer’s life. I don’t really remember seeing cutting the rug as one of the items.

He did, however, talk about husbands loving their wives sacrificially, wives obeying and respecting their husbands (even if they are oafs and clods), children being obedient to their parents, and a lot of other boring, day-to-day stuff. But no place does he mention cutting the rug.

I guess I could pull out David dancing in the street when the Ark was recovered, but somehow, this just doesn’t seem to compare to that.

I have to admit though, that the man in the white coat, and the one behind him, could probably do well on “Dancing with the Stars.”

I just did something I don’t blieve I have ever done in a posting before. Yochee sent a clip in response to this posting in its original. It was so on the money, I had to post it as a follow on to Jumping Jack Flash.

A reader complained that Pulpit-Pimps.org doesn’t pray for the pimps and that it uses big words and tries to impress people with our knowledge and mastery of words. In fact, here’s what Enlightened said about praying for the pimps:

Yes Denise, I agree with you that we are supposed to pray for them.
Also, we need God’s guidance in helping us minister to those who are still in “strong delusion”. I don’t think “pimp bashing” alone will help our brothers and sisters who are still being deceived every Sunday.

As has been pointed out repeatedly, if one takes the time to read the site there are MANY encouragements and requests for prayer, for pimp and pimped alike. (more…)

Why is it that all the guys identified as prophets and prophetesses in the various pentecostal denominations and the pentecostal independents (Bynum, Copeland, Cashflow, and the rest) generally seem to appeal to greed and a desire for power rather than holiness and obedience? You don’t have to watch the entire tape, the first minute or so pretty well illustrate my point.

A reader asked me to send her a paper I had on Scripture memory. But when I looked for it in my files, and searched the internet, I couldn’t find it. I have even forgotten the name of the organization that promotes this particular method. Interestingly, this general method was taught during a Bible study at First Baptist Church of Glenarden, pastored by John K. Jenkins. It has, for me, proven to be very effective. Why Memorize

Why should a Christian memorize Scripture? There are a lot of crummy reasons to do so. Here are some fairly poor ones:

· I get to impress religious chicks and maybe get a date
· I get to impress the people around me and up the chance of me getting a high visibility job (say as a deacon and then assistant pastor) at the church.
· I can argue people into the ground even when I’m wrong because I always sound like I know what I’m talking about
· I’ll be able to beat the Jehovah’s Witnesses at their own game.

As I have forced more and more Scripture into my head, I discovered a very good reason (or a very bothersome one) for going through the trouble or memorization. It makes it very easy for God to use those Scriptures in directing, correcting, and consoling me. (more…)

Some of you may still be wondering how the pimps stay in business and actually prosper. As I wander around the net, and as I get mail from the readers, I discover more and more that the pimps have what could best be described as a cheering section, a sometimes very vocal cheering section.

Apparently the Holy Spirit uses the internet to inspire Fast Eddie.

Right after the Virginia Tech massacre, Fast Eddie walked into the sanctuary and stated that the Holy Spirit had a message for them. He (Fast Eddie, not the Holy Spirit) then proceeded to preach a message he called “Act of Man or Act of God?” But apparently, the message didn’t come from the Holy Spirit. It came from Sermons.com. GaryV was kind enough to provide us with the translation of the Bible that the Oneness (Jesus Only) people apparently use. At least this is what Jesus has to be saying when He prays to the Father in John 17.

Remember, if there is only one of them, He can’t have a relationship with Himself. Any of you Oneness People out there, don’t bother to quote the “The Lord is One” touchstones. Instead, spend your energy trying to convince us this isn’t ridiculous. And you Trinitarians who support the Oneness Pimps, see if you can even begin to understand why it’s such an important doctrine.

Okay, I have been giving Mr. Roberts a pass over the last couple of years. Maybe it was because he runs a real live school and produces real live lawyers. Or maybe it’s because he doesn’t show up on TBN, and CBN tends not to be as all pervasive as TBN.

Yes, he has stepped in major piles of theological pooh, made statements that would cause even the casually thoughtful Christian to cringe, and makes excellent fodder for the Comedy Channel. But until today, I haven’t had much to say about the man’s dealing and relationships. Until today.

On the current events page, at Regent’s site, there is a picture of one of the main buildings at Regent (top left hand corner). Notice the words carved in stone: Developing Christian Leadership.” Their focus is Christian leadership. Christian. Not mostly Christian. Not generally Christian. Not kinda Christian. They say Christian leadership.

Now take a look at the leader Pat Robertson chose to give the commencement speech at the graduation of 1004 people who graduated with a law degree from a college designed to develop Christian Leadership. (more…)

Some of you may wonder why I am so insistent on calling out the pimps here at Pulpit-Pimps. Stephen brought a YouTube clip to my attention which, I believe, perfectly illustrates why we have to push as hard as possible to expose the pimps and present the truth.

A Creflo Clone has posted a “sermon” attempting to prove that we are gods. I want you to understand that if left alone, the heresies that Copeland, Cashflo, and Marilyn Hickey, the Fairy Godmother preach and teach are going to be more widely spread than ever. And those who will spread them will not have to be as polished as Copeland.

Ringo, the speaker on the clip, is incredibly incompetent. At one point, he even says that Jesus knew who He was in Christ. But with a little more polishing, with a little time spent under the feet of Creflo, he will be out there promoting the standard Word of Faith heresies. But I’m willing to wager that there are folks out there who will not only follow this clown, but will actually give him money.

You have to pay attention. You have to know the truth. And you have to be willing to stand for the truth.

I’ve said on many occasions that things will simply get worse. Know that Mr. Webb is merely an indicator of the slide society and the church going society is on.

More than ever I am convinced that computers are a spawn from the depths of hell put here solely for the purpose of making my life, and only my life miserable.

My computer is acting funky and I am going to have to re-install my operating system and all of my applications, my modem etc. It will likely be a painful, all-evening event. I doubt I will be able to post or respond to your comments that aren’t already posted before tomorrow, or very late tonight. However, keep them coming.

Pray for me that I might retain my Christianity and not put my Holy Ghost on the shelf while I work on my stupid #$%$(*& %($*%* $&*$^%*! computer.

Gosh I hate computers.
