Melvin,

You are the Benevolent Dictator. The vote should mean nothing and YES you should give a sermon. You never know if you might reach that one lost WoF soul out there. A little 5 minute sermon could mean saving a life for eternity.

He might sound as if he has "authority", but he certainly does not have any "anointing". He's got what I call the anooointing. To all with any level of discernment it's a big NOOO, but to those without it may appear to be anointing.

There are also good messengers on YouTube, which enables people like dazzarai to share the truth and it's used a lot to expose false teachers. It is what you make it, it's nothing more than a tool. What YouTube needs is more people spreading the truth via that service, just like the blogosphere, just like the Internet in general, just like the world in general.

Jesus wants us each to reach as many as we can with the message of salvation and YouTube helps with that. Jesus said false teachers and false christs would come and they have their disciples like Ringo. But if even Ringo learns more he'll be able to help somebody else lost in the same trap he's in right now.

A lot of us here followed false teaching once upon a time, but overcoming it helps us to help others. We just have to keep working and praying for others to overcome.

Well from corresponding with him for the past couple of days I don't think we can't really say that he is a "brother". The highlight of our debate was that he mentioned that some of what we read in the Bible is God's word but the other stuff is "JUNK". The "JUNK" is what we need to rightly divide to get the correct context of the scriptures. Therefore, he finds himself hypocritically quoting Jesus to endorse not judging, yet he denies Paul's writtings on modesty, and downplays it to where he says that "these are his opinions". His rationale is that Pauls writtings contradicts Jesus. Its evident that the young cat is a deliberate fool and what makes it worse is how he speaks with so much "authority" and "anointing" that he may be beyond repair do to his lack of humility.

Yeah this brother is a straight up clown. This is evidence that people think that if you have some charisma and a bible you should be a pastor/teacher . oh I guess that worked for MASE and countless others. Well as previously stated by many others they are gonna have to answer to God . All I can say to quote Sweet Daddy Williams of Good Time fame "Boyyyy you in trouble"

Ringo is bonkers. I couldn't listen to that garbage for more than 2 minutes. Somebody needs to stomp on his camera and mic if he doesn't repent. That is some poison he is spewing

Dear Illuminated,

If Smith does come back or any members of his congregation come back, there comeback will be....."touch not God's annointed" or something else like "Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness sake."

Nothing refering to the subject matter b/c their is no subject (thithing)to speak of.

The new subject is faith in God, love, forgiveness, simply put....Christ and Him crucified.

He won't repent b/c he, like so many of us actually enjoy rewarding financial gain. However, people who actually fear God will only prosper through the work of their own hands with the favor that God has given. Many of us earn our money the old fashion way.....and still dare not trust in riches.

There is no lasting peace with abusing scripture and sticking up lay persons weekly in order to make excessive profits. The money taken up never prospers the poor so that they may have just as much as the next person. It only serves to prosper folks like Stephen and his corrupt peers.

Does this mean that Stephen in corrupt? Taking silly women captive who are ladeled with divers lust while simultaneously making merchandise out of his members and using God's word to do it.

This is your time Stephen to call on God and fear Him.
Turn, repent, get your house in order. The Kingdom of heaven is at hand!

Thank God for his mercy upon you b/c many "pastors" don't get this chance.

I say, Stephen gathers all of his preacher friends and post a live video discussion/challenge with his opponents on this topic.

Maybe Melvin with have time for something like that.

I'm one of those "lurkers," *smile* who visits the site frequently but I rarely comment unless I see something particularly striking. This, my friends, has been VERY striking. Smith is an example of the epidemic that is sweeping the Christian world. He is an almost stereotypical example of what is wrong with the church. His usage of Christian cliches and personal opinions rather than scripture is sad, but this is exactly what he is, apparently proudly, "teaching" his congregation. He is far from being the only one, but he's the first real, live example of this that I ever had the "opportunity" to hear from. And what I have read here is incredibly disturbing. Smith was repeatedly implored to explain his position using scripture, but he obviously could not. His comments reveal a glaring level of ignorance that is actually unbelievable to me at this point. I am in utter disbelief that this man is actually pastoring God's people, filling them with cliches and his own opinions that are designed to fill the church's coffers. This, literally at the "expense" of the congregants.

The commenters on the site are God-loving, Bible-loving, intelligent people. The conversations here are insightful and thought-provoking. Honestly, one just can't come onto this site spouting nonsense without having to substantiate what one says, and be able to substantiate it in a major, and more importantly, scriptural way. Smith has been unwilling, but comes across as being unable, to do that. Everyone was very interested in what he had to say, but what he has learned is that you can't just come on here and simply "say" things. You have to back it up. This man's theology is bullet-riddled at this point. Everything he said was systematically shot down as the errors that they are. He himself admitted that any scriptures that he used would be considered to be out of context. This is because they ARE! The scary thing is that he knows this. He knows that the readers here are avid readers of the Bible, so he cannot just "say" the things that he normally preaches, and will obviously continue to preach from his pulpit.

Thus, he has decided to leave (as always) and not come back, but he'll be back. Based on his statements on this page and the responses to those statements, this guy is looking really bad right now, and really needs to save face. I also wonder why none of his congregants come on here to help him defend himself, or at least to speak as to his character, or at the very least, to come at us for coming at him. This hasn't happened because I doubt if he would like for his congregants to see the way that he has um... refused to, um, "tremble."

He considers comments that refute his opinions as being judgmental, but we are not judging him as a person. We know nothing about his family or personal life or his character, and no one has attempted to attack him on those levels. All that has been said was in regard to his theology, which is, for his congregation, tragically flawed. I feel no shame or condemnation in saying that his "theology" is flawed, because it is, and he has done absolutely nothing to prove otherwise. The proof is in black and white, in his own words, on this blog. And frankly, it's sad to see.

Smith was so busy defending himself and pointing out why black people shouldn't be "conservative," that he didn't even see that the readers here simply wanted to hear what he had to say. He wasn't interested in really hearing what those here had to say, and he, himself, didn't bother to say anything of substance. Coming from a "pastor," this is utterly unbelievable. I actually hope that he comes back, and that visiting this site forces him to re-evaluate those things that he has heard to the point where he has accepted them as truth and is actually teaching them and arbitrarily applying scriptures to them. Maybe visiting here will provoke him to hit his Bible hard and come back armed with some scriptures. Not ready to argue and go back and forth with commenters, but ready to have a healthy discussion about the Word. No one has had to pass judgment on Smith; his own words have judged him. One need only peruse the thread in order to see that.

No one preaching tithe will do so without scriptural reference.

Christ himself said to the Pharisee that they should tithe and give mint but not forget the weightier matters such as..........

Love, and forgivness (which consequently tithing preachers never preach.

I'll take my chances and live without the Jewish Law
~~~ read Romans...... (which by the way is a CURSE!).........
especially if you don't continue in EVERYTHING as James stated.
Or is Stephen ready to give up bacon and put up animal sacrifices?
Tithing preachers cannot resist the temptation lie on God and repent b/c they recieve BIG BIG cash incentives from their tithers. Who have itching ears for consumming wealth upon their own lust.
They all have their reward.
Hebrews clears is ALL up.
Melvin,
Congratulations on 32 years of marriage!!! To remain married that long, you must possess the fruits of the spirit found in Gal. 5, in particular, "loooongsuffering". I guess you're not a true pimp. If you do a study on the pimps, they are going on their 2nd and 3rd wives. Again, keep up the good work.
Here is further proof that more men and women like Melvin, GaryV, I.C, Mrs Maverick, deb d, Gridiron and so on are required:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN4-MqwIU1k&mode=related&search=
It really is quite saddening. This joker has been deceived. You watch the clip and it's as though this guy has replicated a Cashflow Dollar sermon. He sounds just like Cashflow, it's shocking!! Also look for a video he has entitled "Stop Judging Women". This clown thought Timothy wrote the books of 1st and 2nd Timothy and not Paul!!! It's plain to see this guy lacks basic understanding of the word of God. So very saddening... :(
Keep up the good work guys! Really pray God continues to strengthen you and grants you more wisdom and understanding. You're a blessing! I also pray for the blind, misguided folks, that God may touch their hearts and open their eyes and ears to receive the truth.
Blessings!
One more thing to note Melvin. I took notice that your old church was mentioned in the article. Would you happen to know someone by the name Decon Stanley Featherstone?
(MN: Yes. Featherstone is one of the particularly spineless and worthless deacons at the church. He sold out when he became the play for pay church administrator. Talk about being unable to object if the good pastor is off on some doctrinal tangent! )
Even Peter went back to his boat and fishing after the Cross. Humm, Peter did not give up 'something'. Unless our Lord fixing him breakfast on the shore was 'giving up' a devine encounter yet again.
Stray form God's word and you'll fast find a Man with no more than a washed up net full of dead fish.
Speaking of Good Ol' Bishop Eddie Long. Here is a very interesting article out of the May 06 edition of Black Enterprises, featuring him and T Dex. Its a pretty long read, but after reading it i'm thouroghly convinced that these brothers are "in it to win it". I mean, even the fact that they are featured in Black Enterprises should send up all types of red flags. I would suggest that everyone check it out.
I could find most any political matter out there and speak of it in a manner that relates to Christians and this web blog as well. However, the dictator sets the limits and there are plenty of places to discuss matters that are not discussed here.
I don't know anybody that can effectively speak to everything under the sun that impacts Christians.
Plenty of you are needed in the blogosphere. Starting a blog is cheap and easy. Everything can't and won't be taken care of here, fill in the gap.
(MN: Exactly. I have worked very hard to keep this blog fairly sharply focused. Not to be too obsessive about it, but definitely to keep it focused. Thanks for understanding. The article on Wilberforce is about as far afield as I am willing to go - and even that not too often. )
LOL GaryV,
I didn't see the post you were referring to, but if you prefer:
Esther 4:13-15
Different wording, same premise. I didn't bring up this subject to get into politics either. There is sin and wrong in every political party. I'm looking at the bigger ramifications of the issue. It doesn't take a "rocket surgeon" to see how this impacts the local church, the Kingdom -- and this site. What if Melvin (or someone who posts) says something that someone out there considers a "hate crime?" You do understand that that this tentacle goes far beyond physical attacks...
You haven't BEGUN to see "big pimpin" till you see pastors tie themselves in knots trying to avoid hiring discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuits. Not to mention when someone files a "hate crime" lawsuit against a pastor because of something said in a SERMON...
It's our job as leaders to pray for those involved in wrongdoing, but also sound the alarm on those doing it. While we are busily engaged in "preach-off" dialogue, our REAL adversary is laughing his evil self all the way to the henhouse (1 Peter 5:8).
Melvin, I'll be sure to send in my contrbution to the Melvinite Political Think Tank and Family Life Center. Thanks for listening.
(MN: You know the address:
Melvinite Political Think Tank and Family Life Center Ministries
23470 Anathema Lane
Bowie MD 20776
And of course, In God we trust. All others pay in cash, money order, or certified checks. Make checks payable to Melvin H. Jones. )
And where in the Bible were followers of God not fully involved in politics? With the exception of when not allowed or when they left everything including regular jobs to follow Jesus.
Even when tax collectors were converted, did they quit their job or just do their job in a more righteous manner? Matthew quit, but he was an apostle, but others in his occupation never were recoded to have quit. See Luke 19:1-10, Zacchaeus gave up more than half, but I'm sure even with what he had left he was still rich. The command to give up all was given to a man who was rich and doing everything else right, but obviously had his mind too much on his money.
This is all so much easier when you're broke :D .
No, you know he keeps those for himself :D .
I don't know how the heck I justified him doing that in my mind once he started it, but I think he explained he wanted to appear normal and not so propped-up and I fell for it, back then. (This is the same Eddie Long who was also showing off as a "best dressed" preacher in Ebony Magazine when not in his muscle shirts.)
I remember when he was not working out. But he got into the fitness thing with the muscle-heads and next thing you know, he's showing off his muscles! Not saying I'm against fitness, but for him it only fuels his vanity. Once he started trying to do some separate "Men's" ministry type stuff he started doing all this craziness with the shirts and muscles. Before, he was just like the other money preachers. Now he's got the money and the muscles :D .
