I know this and now you know it. It’s one of the reasons I will never be rich. One of the reasons I do so poorly with the finances God has blessed me with.
I made a mistake a couple of months ago and I am just now rebuking the procrastination demon (he’s a friend of the smoking demon and the drinking demon) to tell you about it.
A while back I told you the site is going to cost me $168 or so to run each month. I was wrong. I misread my bill. When I finally got around to calling my server company (in England by the way), they explained to me that the $168 is the cost of two servers. One is the server on which I host Pulpit Pimps. The other is a server on which I maintain a web site for my copy writing business. The P-P cost had indeed gone up, but it had only increased by about 30 dollars rather than the amount I had originally thought.
The actual cost of the site for P-P is $84 or so. I think I can swing this on my own.
Those of you who have sent money - I would like to give it back. Of course, I will include in that refund the cost of your transmission (one sent funds through Western Union and one through post office money orders). Send me an e-mail and let me know what you want to do. If I don’t hear from you within the week (January 5th), I will send you an e-mail to get your attention and ask again.
My apologies for being so careless in determining the cost. And my thanks to you who have been so faithful (even if it did make me feel lower than pond scum).
Hey Melvin,
Have you seen this? Click here.
(MN: I actually used it in a posting about five months ago. But thanks for the heads up. )
“No way, Jose!” Since we’ve been joined at the hip, the joy of sharing is t-o-o-o big and glorious for me to recall. Thanks though for another gracious lesson in integrity. Much love to you and yours! Beryle

have a HAPPY NEW YEAR in the Lord!!!!!
ps. for those of you who are waiting to hear this at watchnight service- let me be the first to tell you that 2007 is going to be your year of super natural breakthrough and harvest! higher heights and deeper depths! new levels of anointing, and ministry! increase and abundance i say!!! your cup will overflow, and you will recover all that the devil stole from you in 2006!!!! blessings and prosperity will hunt you down and chase you insomuch that you will not be able to resist it!!! watch out for the haters though- ’cause they aint goin’ be able to deal w/ the blessings comin’ your way!! i’m talkin’ stratosphere!!! outta this world radical blessings!!!
all you gotta do is sow a seed of $7.77, write down the numbers 2007 seven times on some post-its, stick them in 7 different parts of your home, spin around counterclockwise 7 times, hop on the good foot 7 times (a lil tribute to the late james brown) anoint yourself w/ 7 seas salad dressing, run to 7 of your neighbors home, bang on their doors like you about to lose your mind- grab them n shake their hands like you’re about to shake it off, and scream in their ears at the top of your lungs 7 times, “2007 RHYMES W/ HEAVEN!!!” and just watch…. (if the police don’t lock u up first)
in just 7 months, 7 weeks, 7 days, 7 hours, 7 minutes, and at precisely the 7th second… you’ll get your miracle!!!
the profit has spoken….
woohoo…I am loving this.
Oh stop! I’m in stitches. I needed that laugh after a very long day with my 4 children. Thanks for the humor.
Uhhh…I’ll pass on the rice cakes.
And your advice for getting blessed is bogus.
I pulled my hamstring jumping up and down. When I stopped spinning around I fell, hit my head and had to go to the emergency room. Now I’m out $789.47 for twelve stitches. I got carpal tunnel doing all the writing and got strep throat after doing all the hollering. And one of my neighbors punched me in the face, which sent me back to the clinic for a broken nose and twelve more stitches ( I tripped over his fence and fell on the wireframe reindeer in his yard) for another $1256.85. I don’t think I can take much more of this overflow.
I’m out over $2000 and the new year hasn’t even started yet! I don’t think I like your prophesying very much.
And you won’t make any popcorn. What’s the upside to this whole thing?
According to the doctrine of the Prosperity Gospel, Melvin should have viewed his own personal miscalculation as a “blessing in disguise”, because he ended up with more than he started with. Of course under prosperity teaching he’s expected to keep the excess funds and tell us he’ll use it for the “kingdom”
. Or say nothing at all about it.
Melvin I’m glad you’re allowing the people to have their money back if they want it, so they can use it towards the Gospel as they see fit, since you’ve found you can cover your expenses.
wire framed reindeer- LMBO! please stop, i can’t take it! LOLLOL.
hey, melville..
after i regained my composure from laffing at your post, i realized why you suffered so much misfortune…it’s not that my profitcy was bogus- because it most certainly is not!- i assure you, and affirm to you on a stack of 100 issues of MAD magazines and the national Enquirer that all those things would have come true if you woulda just waited til 2007! those things befell you simply because you didn’t follow the profit’s instructions.
sheesh.
some people..
You are right! I should have realized that as with any profitcy I have to pay attention to every jot and tittle. I completely missed that thing about 2007…Say…you think you could maybe profitsy two thousand dollars over me so I can pay my medical bill? I’m standing inthe $500 line.
that, you need to take up w/ your HMO.
the profit has spoken..
Mel….that’s great. I admire your integrity and honesty.
First I want to say I have really enjoyed your site, and it has really made me ask myself questions. I have never been into the WOF Movement. I do believe that a lot of churches have become too commercial.
I grew up in a Baptist church; my father is currently my Pastor. I do believe that he is a man of God. I never heard him curse, or do anything immoral. We have relatively small congregation in St. Louis. He has been the Pastor of my church for about 24 years.
I recently was called into the ministry by the Holy Spirit. I am attempting to go to seminary school. I have been a minister for about 3 years.
Okay to my question. We had a fire at our church and we are in the midst of rebuilding. The cost for the building is going to be more then we expected. We believe in tithing but most of the people do not tithe. I am the church administrator and I want to be a good steward over Gods money. I have read a lot of post on how churches with good intentions have started to focus on money. I am hoping and praying that this does not happen.
Is there any advice that any one can give a young minister with good intentions on helping the community, serving God, and helping his community? Thanx Also feel free to email
Hey brother I am a pastor and we are currently meeting in a school. Please hear me, I am not against a building, but there are other alternatives that your pastor may want to look into besides a building. You could even suggest that he could look into having a home church, and rebuild from that. Just don’t get stuck in trying to get another a building.
Stay Rooted and Grounded in the word of God. Learn context, and you wont go wrong on your study. Stay in prayer constantly. God usually resides there. Dont trust your feelings, emotions, or experiences, instead test everything by the word of God to see if it lines up with the word. This walk isnt easy, and God never said it would be, but if you trust him, and line yourself with like minded healthy well balanced christians, you will do well. I’m here in Kansas City if you need to holla, we arent that far away.

How large is your congregation brother?? Do you really NEED a building?? Consider the money that could go to missions, or the poor, or the homeless, etc if there were no building to support.
Losing a building is not the same as losing a church.
Thank you all so much for the comments. The congregation is currently about 125-150 people. regular attenders are about 90. The church has been in existance for over 80 years. The pastor presented the facts to the people and they decided that they want to rebuild the church in the same location. Our Pastor is a very humble man and has set aside his salary to help with the financing of the church. He truly concerned about soul saving. He always reaffirms Mt. 28:19. The Word of God is what must come first, not the building. Please continue to pray for us. Melvin Keep up the Good Work You gotta friend in the STL. binks99 I will be emailing you. Thanks.
Your pastor sounds like a man after God’s own heart……God bless you all.
