Let’s compare:
To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ… (Eph 3:8 From Paul, the man who was used by God to write most of the New Testament Letters)
Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me–to keep me from exalting myself! (2 Cor 12:7)
“It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.” (John 1:27 From John the Baptist, the man Jesus described as the greatest of the prophets)
Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. (1 Peter 5:1-3)
But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (Gal 6:14)
Now, let’s take a look at the statements and attitudes of some of the mega-churches. (Okay, not some. Let’s look specifically at Fast Eddie.)
“I am looked at as one of the churches fathers. One of God’s CEO’s.” (Bishop Eddie Long, The Empowerment of Kings, 2/10/2002)
“We’re not just a church, we’re an international corporation,” Long said. “We’re not just a bumbling bunch of preachers who can’t talk and all we’re doing is baptizing babies. I deal with the White House. I deal with Tony Blair. I deal with presidents around this world. I pastor a multimillion-dollar congregation. You’ve got to put me on a different scale than the little black preacher sitting over there that’s supposed to be just getting by because the people are suffering.” (Eddie Long discussing his compensation package to the Atlanta Constitution Journal, August 28, 2005)
Now take a look at this video (I love YouTube). It’s kind of long, but you can get the picture by viewing just a few minutes of it. I wouldn’t want to subject you to any more than that. You have to go to YouTube to watch it. Apparently the poster doesn’t want to give us the convenience of tying back to the posting.
Finally, see if you can imagine Paul, Peter, or John doing something like this. Click here. That’s right! It’s a Fast Eddie “Watch This” trinkets catalog.
Of course if you have a friend who is feeling a little down and out and needs some encouragement, you can send them a “Watch This e-spirational E-Card. I wanted to see what I would get so I sent myself one. This is what I got. Click here. I think I would rather have gotten a card with a picture of an Afircan-American Jesus, or a White European Jesus. So why am I getting a card with Fast Eddie’s face plastered on it? And why is he dressed in that stupid cardinal’s outfit?
Do you see any kind of disconnect between Fast Eddie’s attitude and the attitudes of real men of God?
This isn’t to say he doesn’t do good things. But so does Tom Cruise, the Scientologist. Besides, that’s not the issue. And we know it’s not.
Pity these men and women. They have their rewards here and now. Yeah, okay - pray for them too. I’d hate to be one of them and have to face Jesus Christ when I die.
Thanks to Calvin for the heads up.
This is just a shame; it is difficult to believe that thinking post-modern “Christian” people actually follow this man. I know of some very intelligent people who are members of New Birth. My only conclusion is that these folk are seriously deluded by their own sins and the devil.
AMEN! AMEN! and again I say, AMEN!
Additionally, well over one-half of these blind sheep are women (young and old)—the ones described in 2 Timothy 3:6—”silly” (KJV) and “weak” (NASB).
Silly: 1. Weak in intellect, foolish, witless, destitute of ordinary strength of mind, simple.
2. Proceeding from lack of understanding or common judgment, characterized by weakness of folly, unwise as silly thoughts, silly actions, a silly scheme,
writings stupid or silly. Webster’s 1828 dictionary
2 Timothy 3:6 - For of this sort are they which creep into houses and lead captive “silly”
women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts.
Captive: A prisoner taken by force or stratagem war, by an enemy followed by to; as a captive to the victor. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary
Laden: 1. Loaded, charged with a burden or freight.
2. Oppressed; burdened. … Webster’s 1828 Dictionary
Divers: Different; Various … Webster’s 1828 Dictionary
Lusts: 1. Longing desire; eagerness to possess or enjoy; as the lust of gain.
2. Concupiscence; carnal appetite; unlawful desire of carnal pleasure.
Websters 1828 Dictionary
2 Timothy 3:7 - “Ever” learning and “never” able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Ever: 1. At all times; always; continually. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary
Never: Not ever; not at anytime, at no time. It refers to the past or the future.
Word Faith/Prosperity is another gospel. It preaches another Jesus and sends another spirit into the hearts of it’s believers. These women do not endure sound doctrine; but after their “own” lust have heaped to themselves teacher having itching ear’s. Their teacher/Pastors have turned their ears away from the Truth and have turned them unto “fables.” They are ever learning the Word Faith/Prosperity, Name It and Claim It gospel but are “never” able to come the knowledge of the “Truth” .
Fables: Feigned story or tale. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary
2 Peter 2:3 - And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise
of you …
What is Truth? John 17:17 - Sanctify them through thy “Truth”; thy Word is Truth.”
In the Love of the true and Living Jesus,
Deb
WOW Again I say WOW.
I’m trying to type but the first, second and third thing that comes to my mind is WOW.
Thank the ALMIGHTY for discernment. I’m thankful that the sheep hear the voice of the True Sheperd.
2 Peter 2:2
Last comment I was tripping a little when I saw
Frank Ski (B-more thing)
Let’s play a game. “We will call it “Who wants the praise of men?”
Ok, so you are rich with plenty of money in the bank, lots of land, cars, houses and the CEO of a major corporation and Melvin works for you. Melvin has been to Iraq and has returned to a lot of bills and his family is financially strapped. So what do you do as this rich CEO?
A. Call a meeting with all of your employess and let them know publically that Melvin is financially strapped and ask for help from everyone else.
or
B. Do as Jesus commanded and help Melvin yourself.
The clock is ticking and you have one lifeline and that is: “Call a friend”. Let’s call Al. (ring ring)
Al: Well it’s a trick question. If I wanted to bring attention to myself and embarrassment to Melvin and his family by letting everyone know that he is broke, I choose “A”. I would not be concerned that Melvin and his family may not want everyone else to know that they were broke because I want to give everyone else a chance to “get in on the blessing” because we all know that we give to get blessed and not to BE A BLESSING(wink wink).
But if I want to do as Jesus commanded I would choose “B” and give to him in secret. Nobody has to know that Melvin is broke and his family is barely making it. If that were the case a lot of brothers and sisters would have used discernment and gave privately anyway.
Okay, what was wrong with the video of his 19th anniversary? I didn’t see anything.
It seems to be all about Fast Eddie and wonderful things he does. Is that consistent with the attitude the Bible says he should have?
You have a very good point here. Thanks.
So basically Pastors/ Bishops should not have an anniversary? They shouldn’t get recognition?
Why should they. They get their rewards from God, not man. Pastor anniversaries are nothing more than fund raisers. The pastor gets a salary and if he can’t make it off the salary that he is being paid, he should seek other employment. I am sure you, like myself, work for someone and if we can’t make it off our salary, the company is not gonna have a fundraiser for us.
Antoine L. Mason: Please support this empty assertion with APPLICABLE Scriptures—both on the “anniversary” point and the “recognition.” My Bible says to give honor to whom honor is due. This means the prerequisites for receiving due honor have to be met FIRST. These prerequisites are clearly defined by Scripture, NOT by decaying flesh, blind sheep, silly women, and the ignorant and unlearned.
Romans 13:7
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
He deserves that honor. He does put Christ first. In a sermon I am listening to now he says to the streaming faith listeners:
“. . .here at New Birth the Lord reigns, and he reigns in us. And we share that with you.”
How is this not putting the Lord first? Againd you are all just angry with him for some reason.
Mr. Mason,
God Bless! Interesting Question you had. Curious, have you ever consider the fact that there can be a huge difference between appreciating a person and gloryfying that individual?
My church recently had a celebration for a the aniversary of our church being founded (20th one, to note) and as we were having a picknick on new property built, the church decided to publicly bless the pastor by presenting him with a plaque stating how much we appreciated him for his heart for Christian family/fellowship, reaching people of all backgrounds and seeking to walk in line with the Word concerning the vision God gave him for our church.
Even though he appreciated it, he publically (as he always does in private/person as well) gave full credit back to the Lord (not simply in saying “Couldn’t of done it without Him” or in a way implying that God was merely an aid to something he accomplished mostly by himself, but in a way of fully gloryfing the Lord by admitting that he did not have nor will he ever have the strength on his own to do as God pleases…and that he is but dust) and he chose to highlight all of the wonderful things God had done for/through all of them….and how underserving of them he and the people were but blessed to be able to recieve them and be used by Him since everything done to help others came only through the ways the Lord first helped us (much like Paul did on many occasions….II Corithians 1:3-11, Ephesians 3:7-13, I Timothy 1:12-17, etc. )
Also, in reciecing commendations, he didn’t chose to validate the good things done by comparing he or his church’s accomplishments with others (i.e.thinking that one’s church is blessed because they have the same amount of numbers that a bigger one has, or that their style of ministry is more popular/”hip” than others, etc) so that all would think they’re were better than they were (same happened before in Pauls day, as II Corithians 10:7-13 says).
Rather than worrying about the accomplishments of others or even his own, he sought to measure himself/the church against the standards of God so as to prove that there wasn’t any basis for any of them being prideful….and so that all present would ask themselves “Does my life measure up to what the Lord wants, and How do I compare to Christ?”. Even though he is a man of high integrity and has a genuine heart of love/concern for those around Him growing in the Lord and even though He has done alot of great feats (planting/leading a church and maintaining it after with wisdom/humility is hard work)….Everything that he did was measured up against how well he and the church were doing in the Work of reflecting Him/Spreading the Good News.
Saying all that, I think the main difference between what my pastor (and others like him) did in contrast to others is how the focus point was always placed on Jesus.
In having an anniversary for a bishop, one must ask whether or not the focus is on God’s power being seen through our weaknesses and using the things He has done to give all crediation to Him (i.e. thanking God before and above the pastor for helping establkish a church or create an innovative kind of ministry, etc), or whether the focus is on man and man using God’s power/blessings to magnify himself (i.e. thanking God for all the righteous things one does merely to be seen but never doing so when no one’s looking like Jesus said conerning doing the way in which one does works of righteousness/good things as Matthew 6:1-8, or in placing sole condifence in the good works one does as a means of justifying themselves/ earning “favor” before God and placing confidence in one’s deeds rather than the Unfailing love of God and admitting one’s weaknesses/need for God’s mercy everyday first and acknowledgig our unworthiness apart from Christ to stand before Him, much like Luke 18:9-14):
Luke 18:9-14
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: 10″Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee stood up and prayed about[a] himself: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men–robbers, evildoers, adulterers–or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13″But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14″I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles will be exhalted.”
Moreover, although I do believe in that it’s very sweet and at times appropiate to have things such as anniversaries/celebrations for pastors and that recieving thanks from all of the people the Lord has used them to bless/turn to Him can be something that can encourage them, to do so at the expense of giving the ultimate glory to Christ Jesus/His Word is dangerous (much as it was for those in Pauls day, who were using credentials as a means/platform of baosting/proving themselves and impressing others with what they had rather than letting God prove them and having their actions speak for themselves to bless God….II Corithians 11:16-33….and even though Paul was embarrassed/reluctant of boasting of himself foolishly and even gave from time to time His credentials when He needed to to guard His authority==II Corithians 10:1-18, God himself had to check Him at one point when he was recieving so many revelations/insights at one point that he became in danger of losing humility and being unfit for God to demostrate His power through, which is why God gave him a thorn in the flesh to remind him of his constant need for His grace/ “contact with God” and to show other around him God’s work in his life like II Corithians 12:1-10 says)
Moreover, for the church/pastor to celebrate the leader of the church alone rather having the pastor celebrate the contributions/work they brought to building the Church/Spreading the Good News and collectively celebrating what God has done through all of them (note: many a time did Paul not only recieve encouragement but gave encouragement….encouragement based on what gloryfied the Lord rather than merely what made one feel good, by the way….and many a time he chose to thank the people he ministered to, not for how he ministered to them and how they listened to him, but for how they ministered to Him as well as for what Gods Spirit was doing in them and how they blessed God…Romans 1:8-10, Ephesians 1:15, Phillipians 1:3-11 and Philippians 1:15-26, Colossians 1:3-14, I Thessalonians 1:1-10 and I Thessalonaians 2:1-20, I Thessalonains 3:1-13, and various others to name)…..to do otherwise would not be consistent with the Word. And again, to do so would be extremely dangerous; self-sufficiency and congradulation (As Paul well understood) isn’t appropiate and can/will lead to lead to deadly pride (Proverbs 27:2, Proverbs 11:2, Proverbs 16:5, Proverbs 16:18, Proverbs 28:26).Furthermore. doing so makes one unable to have God fill us with his power and “make us more stronger than we ever could be on our own” since in boasting of our weaknesss in us He is made strong (II Corithians 12:7-10).
If anykind of boasting goes forth, let it ultimately be the kind of boasting Paul endorsed: Boasting of “things that show my weakness” (II Corithians 10:17-18, II Corithians 11:30). Admitting our weakness helps to develops our character/affirms God’s strength…and it proves as a safeguard to doing God’s work on our own/taking credit for what He alone could do since “we must rely on God for our effectiveness rather than our own energy, effort, or talent.”
Moreover, Not that we should ignore what abilities/strengths and what we’re strong in or that we should only recognize our limitations and leave it at that (even Paul acknowledged His strengths)….but what for what gain would it mean to do so and not be unaware of all of that means nothing compared to knowing Christ and making the Power of Him rather than the feats of Man known? (Phillipians 3:1-11)
Curious, what are your thoughts (and even those of others, if interested, for that matter)?
Uh, you obviously don’t listen to Bishop Eddie L. Long as much as me because he told his congregation (as he always does) that he doesn’t want them to worship him. So what are you talking about? And why is your message so long?
Mr.Mason,
Thanks for your response. Two things: One, I wrote as long as I did as to be clear as possible in what I was trying to convey. Perhaps I could’ve writtien shorter..which is something I’m working on….but that is the way it is for now (concerning what I wrote, did you even check out any of the Scriptures I included with it to check out to see for yourselves? That’s also why I wrote so long…so that you wouldn’t just hear my opinion and think I think I was just speaking my mind but so you could see that what I was saying was based soley on what God has already made clear…and since you seem to want to be in line with all of what the Lord thinks).
(MN: G2, if you keep writing encyclopedias, they may be clear, but they will be unread. Pithy comments please, unless there is a specific issue to address. Length for clarity is not good. Clear and concise writing IS good. Please.< strong> )
Two, contrary to your statement, I’ve have listend to Mr. Eddie Long plently of times….I used to be a faithful follower of his and I use to watch his show plently of times back in the day.
Problem was, however, that I never studied the Word said for myself and take seriously what God says about examining every area of life by His Word.
Moreover, I never realized that just because someone claims to not want people to worship him and GOD instead means nothing if their actions seem contrary/inconsistent to what God says and remain that way (Consider what Titus 1:15-16 says, which states that “15To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.”
Even though he says for people not to worship him, how often are people in his church or elsewhere allowed to do so still…and seemingly with his aproval by not speaking against it or continuing to promote himself and doctrine/things contrary to what the Word has stated (ex. claming to be looke upon as one of the CEO’s of the Kingdom of God, or having his voice recorded on the “Release Therapy” with album by Ludarciris that was loaded with foulness/immorality….things we’re called to expose/stand against by all means necessary rather than merely acknoweldge in word (Ephesians 5:1-14, and having Pattie Labble perform at his church even though she condones singing music containing things offensive to the Lord, etc.)
Hope you understand/see more clearly where I’m coming from. My issue isn’t with Him as a person; it’s with the promotion of anything that stands against what the Lord has said….and it should be the same for everyone who claims allegaiance to God regardless of their status or the good things they’ve done (myself included). Not to say that Eddie Long isn’t a nice person with morals/values or that he hasn’t done great things to help people, but many of the things taking place under his ministrty seem to be way off base according to what the Word of God says and, like the Word says, we’re to test/examine everything to see if it’s consistent with the nature of Christ/His principles (I John 4:1-3)….we’re to be on guard for such things and address and discuss those issues contrary to the Word when they arrise so we’ll all be kept safe from error/harm (II Peter 3:17 and Jude 1:3). Moreover, greater than doing great things in God’s name and celeberating those who do so is seeking to base/define one’s actions upon the example/Words of Christ since that’s what we’ll be judged by and what will truly last (Matthew 7:21-28).
Prayfully, if you’re here on this site to honestly hear the Word or discuss the whole Truth of God concerning your questions, would you please share your thoughts as to why you defend all of his actions (or at least those contrary to the Word) and verify what the Word says about it? Blessings…
Mr. Melvin,
“Pithy comments please, unless there is a specific issue to address. Length for clarity is not good. Clear and concise writing IS good. Please.”
Question: Concerning being lengthy only when addressing specific issues, how does one decide as to what a specific issue is to begin with? Is a specific issue only worth discussing in length when it concerns an issue dealing with standing against social issues/those who promote incorrect doctrine (ex. Contending against “Oneness” views or the belief that we are to be considered mini-gods), or is addressing an specific issue something that’s defined in terms of responding to a question someone might have about something (ex. responding in length to the question Mr. Mason had concerning church celebrations for pastors, or anything else, etc)? Be it for people who simply make a comment left for people to give their take or a faulty accusation or even a question someone has, when is it appropriate to give short answers to people or long ones?
I was wondering because it seemed that I was addressing a specific issue since what I wrote was concerning a question dealing with on specific subject. Moreover, I’ve seen other comments by people that were pretty long and not in response to anyone’s questions, but they lacked substance/the Word….and were people simply talking for the sake of talking/being heard. I’ve also seen others comments/statements of people that were just stating their mind and, whether short or long, what they said was considered fine because what they said was in line with the Word and made people think.
Also, I’ve seen comments that addressed people’s short questions with great detail/Scripture to prove their point (and vice versa), and even though they were long or at times not straight to the point, they were still appreciated/read because of the strong points they made and because people interested more so in gaining knowledge/wanting to learn rather than having their eyes hurt in the process (ex. Gidron’s posting on the Sabbath, or postings where large or many passages of scripture are posted for others to see but still take up room, etc).
Also, for those answering questions and comments straight to the point….I sometimes wonder if it would be wrong to give someone who makes a false claim concerning the Word one scripture/comment alone to back a point instead of giving as many as possible so they’d have nothing to try to come back with in return….perhaps a questioner who truly wished to learn was genuinely wanting much information to read (at least, that’s how it is for me and many others when people’s comments are read on this site). I’m really struggling, though, in being able to discern the difference…or to see why mine are considered as “encyclopedias” when others are seemingly just as long/detailed but endured nonetheless.
Heard the advice you gave loud n’clear, and I greatly appreciate it. Would you mind, however, giving some more clarity as to what you meant fully by your comment and how to apply it? I want to be a blessing, not a burden, to your site and I’d like more of a accurate understanding so that I could grow in this area better and be effective in conveying the Truth properly. Till I hear from ya, blessings.
Where in the Bible does it give license to celebrate such fool-ishness? As pointed out on this site on earlier posts, the only celebrations of flesh were Pharaoh’s and Herod’s—and they were enemies of God. At best, such carnal “celebrations” should not be held in the structure where the “saints” meet. This is clearly proof of the LACK OF fear of God, and the stench of pride surely reaches HIS nostrils.
And the Chruch said Amen!!!
In Christ,
Deb
First, Matthew 6:1-2 warns against this type of behavior:
Beware of PRACTICING YOUR righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have NO reward with your Father who is in heaven. (2) When therefore you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the HYPOCRITES do IN THE SYNAGOGUES AND IN THE STREETS, that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, THEY HAVE THEIR REWARD IN FULL.
This is the attitude this person should have; but au contraire, the opposite appears to be the modus operandi of this apostate “church.”
Second, the Apostle Paul warned further in Acts 20:29-30—I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; (30) and from AMONG YOUR OWN SELVES men will arise, speaking perverse things,* to draw away the disciples after them.
*[e.g., God’s word likened to fresh sperm, and the “wound” God made in Adam’s side to remove a rib from which He formed woman, became the “womb” inside Eve’s body, etc..] I kid you not! I heard the latter of these two blasphemies with my own ears. The former one was viewed on U-Tube several months ago.
I had the opportunity to tune into Eddie on TBN last night. The interviewer asked him about his “muscle shirts”. He stated that he has inspired people to lose weight. Men come up to him and thank him for inspiring them to lose weight. Because of him they have joined the gym and have begun to eat healthier foods. He started to pull up his jacket to let everybody see his muscle shirt.
(MN: I guess it’s “Follow me as I pump iron.” )
MELVIN & Company: 19th “Anniversary” @ club newbirth:
I just took time to look at this travesty in its entirety. Following are comparisons of “building the house–advancing the kingdom” versus building the True Church and advancing the Kingdom of God. John the Baptist was anointed IN THE WOMB to become the forerunner, announcing the coming of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. All of John’s words came to pass.
1. Who is Frank Ski? Who sent him and predestined his vain words to come to pass? Who is building what house? Which house is being built? Whose house is being built by whom? For what/whose purpose is whose house being built?
2. Hebrews 3:1-6—Therefore Holy brethren [Family relationship], partakers of a heavenly calling, CONSIDER JESUS, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession. (2) He [JESUS] was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all HIS House. (3) For He [JESUS] has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house,….(6) but Christ was faithful as a Son over HIS House, WHOSE HOUSE WE ARE, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
3. F. Ski said, “We call him our spiritual father….we look to him for guidance and rely upon him to lead us through the trials like the one named Katrina….”
Matthew 23:9—And DO NOT CALL ANYONE ON EARTH YOUR father, for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
4. ALMS GIVING by Mr. Long—(see Matthew 6:2-3).
5. F. Ski: (Comments grouped together due to a component relationship—stench!)
· Like much of the world we turn to Bishop Long for answers.???????
(WHO ARE THE “WE”? Mr. Ski must be speaking of himself and those of his ilk.)
· As he courageously lifts up the name of Jesus, the eyes of the world are focusing on Bishop Long and New Birth.”
(Where is Jesus ever lifted up, other than as a smoke screen for unsuspecting sheep)?
· Bishop long is determined to transform the body of Christ throughout our country and across the globe (???)
The Word of God refutes this fecal matter (hence, the stench) in Jeremiah 17:5-6—Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart TURNS AWAY FROM THE LORD. (6) For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when PROSPERITY comes, but will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, a land of salt without inhabitant.”
Romans 12:1-2—I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of GOD, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship [rational, reasonable service….] (2) and do not be conformed to this world, BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that you may prove what the will of God is [NOT THE WILL OF MAN], that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
God told His Family—relationship term of “brethren” above, how to be transformed—through HIS penned Word. The penned Word became flesh, and dwelt among us…. Then this JESUS GAVE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL THE NATIONS in Matthew 28 18-20: And Jesus came up and spoke to them [the disciples], saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (19) Go THEREFORE, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (20) TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THAT I COMMANDED YOU;….”
6. F. Ski….”How does he [Mr. Long] do it—to live the life he lives you’ve got to have a lot of courage…”
ANSWER: (1) Not “courage,” but nerve; (2) with a lot of OPM—other people’s money] ï?Š; and (3) by NOT preaching the whole counsel of God, as instructed by Jesus; but (4) preaching to itching ears what they want to hear and what makes them “feel good,” (at least ’til they get home).
7. Nowhere do the Scriptures tell us to win our husbands over by “going home from church and giving him the best sex he ever had in his life, that he will be encouraging you to ‘go to church’ everyday!”
Ecclesiastes 10:12-13 answers this—Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him; the beginning of his talking is folly, and the end of it is WICKED MADNESS.
1 Peter 3:2-3 instructs godly women (Read 2:25 first, then continue…)—In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, THEY MAY BE WON WITHOUT A WORD BY THE BEHAVIOR OF THEIR WIVES, AS THEY OVSERVE YOUR CHASTE AND RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR. (3) And let not your adornment be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; BUT LET IT BE THE HIDDEN PERSON OF THE HEART, WITH THE IMPERISHABLE QUALITY OF A GENTLE AND QUIET SPIRIT, which is precious in the sight of God.
8. Mr. Long: “Every single woman who gave up on getting married….I heard God say, ‘I have saved one for you!”
What does the Bible, our more SURE WORD OF PROPHECY, say?
1 Peter 3:12—For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil [refute His Word for another gospel another spirit, another Jesus!].
Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ—who has been made unto us Wisdom, Righteousness, Sanctification, and Redemption—makes us “the Righteous.” You ain’t seen nothing yet; WATCH THIS! :
1 John 5:14-15—And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, HE HEARS US. (15) And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
Therefore, ASK your Heavenly Father ACCORDING TO THIS PRECIOUS PROMISE and stop running after false prophecies!
9. F. Ski: “His joyful, playful spirit is worth its weight in gold.” (??????)
Ecclesiastes 10:1 says, “Dead flies make a perfumer’s oil stink, SO A LITTLE FOOLISHNESS IS WEIGHTIER THAN WISDOM AND HONOR.”
This last Bible wisdom also covers the “watch this catalog” latrine.
In closing, let me remind you again of Luke 16:14-15, “Now the Pharisees, WHO WERE LOVERS OF MONEY, were listening to all these things, and they were scoffing at Him. And He said to them, ‘You are those WHO JUSTIFY YOURSELVES IN THE SIGHT OF MEN, but God knows your hearts; FOR THAT WHICH IS HIGHLY ESTEEMED AMONG MEN IS DETESTABLE IN THE SIGHT OF God.’” Amen!
That dude Eddie Long Is not muscular. I am sorry. But c’mon….I say this in all realness……like the pants called “Apple Bottoms” for women…..these shirts for men do NOTHING but make men on chub status look like they have some size…..
Deceiving…….
A man with real size does not need the “muscle” shirt. It shows through regardless of what he is wearing.
(MN: Kind of like salvation and spiritual maturity, huh? )
Lol….good analogy. Very true.
Deception AT BEST. Just like you can spot a “poser” in a muscle shirt (I HATE these shirts BTW)
……(whether he be skinny or pudge) the same way you can spot one whom does not reflect spiritual maturity by the “garments” worn or braggart “grammar” of who they are to attract attention….
Useless…..and makes one look even worse.
(MN: I guarantee you’d never atch me in a muscle shirt - way too pear shaped. )
OH………is THAT what you meant when you talked about my vocabulary??
Ah, well……….not an affectation brother. I write how I write, I speak how I speak. Wouldn’t it be just as disingenuous for me to force myself to write in a different style just to win acceptance?? Wouldn’t THAT be the equivalent of my “muscle shirt” (which I look FABULOUS in,BTW)
C’mon Gary V…..LOL…..No muscle shirts man!! Don’t be like Eddie Long brotha……preachin’ with barely any shirt on…talkin’ about (every 5 minutes)…..(whispering) “Watch this, watch this…”
The Gary V pulpit preaching muscle shirt version……”You numb-minded ignoramuses!…..(whisper)…Watch this, watch this……”…lol (JK man)
LOL!!!!!!
When I used to watch Eddie Long’s broadcasts on TBN, my pre-teen daughter always asked me why he (Eddie Long) always wore tight shirts and baggy pants? He can go on and talk about the singles staying pure and holy. But, the way he walks around, preaching with those tight, muscle shirts is sending another message that is sure beyond holy. Any members from New Birth want to defend this? No, he is not muscular, but he is enticing many of the women out there…and those “fresh sperm” messages intermingled with his tight outfits are definitely not the move in a church setting.
Also, I have been reading some old postings from this site. I am being very informed on all levels. I appreciate the posts from those individuals who support their positions soundly. In addition, the posts provide approriate Scriptures to that provides strength to support what is Biblically based, and not man-made and twisted. (Shout out to Beryle the Pearl, Ms. Maverick, and of course, Mr. Melvin).
I am still a young babe in Christ, and I would like to be as accurate and sound within my postings. So, I will be utilizing many of the posts within my Biblical studies.
I have noticed maybe in the last 5 years or so that many of the r&b artists that kinda fell off (not as popular as they once were back in the day) are turning to singing Gospel music and/or performing in gospel plays. There is a lot of intermingling of the religious and the secular. And basically, it is an R&B event that is disguised as a Christian gathering of sorts. Jesus is not acknowledged, and if He is, Jesus is just an afterthought, not the main attraction. The vendors (did you get that cd?), the artists (did you see her hairstyle, her wardrobe changes?) and their entourage, and the fans paying the inflated ticket price are the attraction. Jesus never sound the Gospel, folks.
Lastly, I went to the Jamal Bryant link regarding the speaking fee that he charges, and that hurt me to my heart to know that he would actually expect church folk to provide him with that type of money. I’m sorry, I have to say, no hateration here, but Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant and Pastor Paula White (Life Coach) really need to leave the church beyond and open their own motivational /financial/ empowerment conglomeration. (They are already doing it under the guise of “pastor.” ) Under their joint efforts, you’ll have time, during the alter calls,to pass out business cards, attend seminars in order to compare and upgrade your houses, cars, and lands, and monthly retreats to exotic locations overseas to network with other partners and believers. And, if you dig deeper in your pockets (maybe take out a second mortgage on your home) you will be able to spend intimate time during a “meet and greet” session during this time of “fellowship” and “getting closer to God”.
And, must I not forget, once you “sow that special seed into good ground” you can expect that blessing of that mate (”you’ll be single no more, God has that man/woman for you”), you can be look forward to being debt-free (”once you sow a “first fruit seed” of $1000 per month into the ministry, Jesus wants to know if He can trust you with the “little” that you have), and you could look forward to living in a mansion within the next 30 days (”after all, Jesus was rich….).
Please, I had to, had to take a break for watching these shows back to back. I was just getting confused as I read what is in the Bible, and then watching so many of these men and women of Gode basically twisting scripture. And sad to say, many people locally and internationally are being had (literally raped, for a better word) spirtually, emotionally, and psychologically, because they really have a heart for God, and a need to be led and directed by God. (What is screaming, running around, and crying all over the place going to do? And, I am just talking about what many these preachers do. Please, oh please ,help me to decifer what Bishop Noel Jones is communicating. Maybe a Dummies Guide for…..?) However, some of these unscrupulous preachers are misleading so many people astray with false doctrine for there own benefit. I said it before, and I have to say it again. Their superstar status is attracting so many because, wow, look at what the preacher wears, how the preacher talks, where the preacher lives, and how well mannered his children are, and oooh, he is happily married. It is not about Jesus, it as, follow the Joneses, what can I do to be just like him or her. And, yet again, Jesus takes a back seat beyond the prosperity messages. Oh, must I not forget, Jesus is thrown in every known and then, along with a twisted Scripture, in order to endorse anything that has to do with having a materialistic item or financial increase. Wow, the Christian artist, Unscrupulous preacher, and the Secular Rapper have lots in common.
Sad but true!
Correction: Jesus never sold the Gospel. The preachers, as well as the followers, who are supporting and endorsing this “Gospel for Sale Movement” must remember;
Proverbs 11:28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
James 1:26-27
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Lastly,
1 Peter 1:13-15
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Especially correct on Noel Jones.
The man has this “thing” he does when he preaches. He basically takes the same message which is really about 5-10 minutes long, and essentially makes it about 45 minutes to an hour with the mixed in stories, (from his personal secretaries, how Chris Rock invited him (front row seats) to a Laker game & he said no - but how he got Chris Rock instead to pay the note on the church, exotic trips…blah, blah, blah) plain ‘ol talking, and repeating of the same points of his message.
He uses these HUGE words (that would even make Gary V cringe) that I have a hard time deciphering.
I grab the word, but I look around, and it appears half of these people have NO idea what he is saying.
The other half apparently could care less besides all of the screaming and such, it appears that may be all that they have come to do. SCREAM for Jesus. And I mean LOUD.
The man breaks down the same stuff he said and essentially repeats it three times. Seriously.
Almost like…meat for those who catch it immediately, then chops it more and more until everyone gets it. The problem is, he has talked SO much listening to this guy can be extremely confusing. LOL…..he had this message titled “23 seconds”. Relating the time the blood takes to circulate the entire body (23 secs) to Jesus’ cleansing blood on the cross. Stating that 23 seconds (lol) was all that one needed to break out.
It absolutely did not bring light to the Word of God. Only to Noel Jones and his extreme vernacular. Classic Showboat. He will state a word, and say something like …”Yes that is a word.” And proceed to proudly spell it out. The gentleman loves to talk.
Dear Gridiron:
Man, you’re one of the few persons that have Nole Jones figured out! I happen to live in the LA metroplex, and I hear him all the time and he says absolutely nothing…except to “shake your neighbor’s hand like you are going to shake it off”, and “look to your neighbor and jump in their lap”, etc. Great observation indeed on your part
BT
Amen brotha.
I cannot say I have ever heard of (ANY) preacher talk about himself SO MUCH. (Gal 6:3)
I am sure the man can say to himself…”I love ME some ME!”
It appears some have no shame with their open lifestyle vs. what they preach…..Well then again, what he preaches (Matthew 6:24) reflects his flamboyant lifestyle.
What “took” it for me (Though I had already left that church after 2 months there) was when I saw this gentleman with a green substance inside a Fiji water bottle in his hand as he was teaching. I thought Fiji water was clear, not bright green?
He was already 20 minutes late, but yet still got up, walked around, and talked for an hour, while the Bible sat at the desk he set it on.
People appear to be so numb to it, caught up in his personality, & void of being taught (or seek - Acts 17:2-3, 11) the Word of God for themselves that there is NO idea that they are being taken for a ride (Gal 5:8-9).
Question for ALM and BT, re: Noel Jones—Do you think he “shares the gospel” with his sister, the “actress,” Grace Jones? The saying goes, “Blood is thicker than water.” This may account for his strange aura while speaking/preaching/talkin’ and walkin’, etc. Have you noticed, he’s quite the gesticulator?
plain and simple a spirit of lust
TO GRIDIRON: What in the world are “Apple Bottoms” for women? I know about “Bell Bottoms” and “Straight Legs,” but just so I n-e-v-e-r purchase them, I need to know what Apple Bottoms are
Thanks! One of your Sisters in the Lord, Beryle
Lol I feel ya Beryle……Apple Bottom pants for women are jeans made specifically to curve a woman’s rear into this “apple” shape one they put the jeans on….form fitting. Thay were created by the rapper “Nelly”.
An appeal to the flesh.
Patti Labelle will be at New Birth:
Patti Labelle is releasing her first gospel CD next month. To help celebrate the release of the CD and the holiday season Ms. LaBelle is performing at New Birth on December 6. The holiday special will be taped and broadcast on BET. Ms. LaBelle will be joined by Yolanda Adams, Mary-Mary, Shirley Caesar, Wynonna Judd and Sunny Hawkins. Tickets are on sale at Called to Conquer Bookstores and pattilabellegospel.com. Tickets are $20 for the balcony, $25 for floor seating, and $40 for VIP seating.
(MN: I wonder if the negligee-clad back up singers are going to be there as well? Do you think she might take requests and do “Lady Marmelade”?)
This is quite possible—if they change the words around a bit…you know—”birds of a feather….”
oh brother….(rme)
it’s just never ends… i would have been offended if this nonsense was taking place in God’s house
but…. since it isn’t, i hope they get their money’s worth.
this past friday, the 18th- eddie was on tbn trying to help them raise some MORE money, and he happened to mention that jakes was his daddy…….
will someone please tell me what on earth is this all about?
(MN: Money. And arrogance. )
Melvin,
I’m not sure if this have already been covered, but the teachings of Kenneth Copeland is some of the worst i’ve ever seen.
http://www.bereanfaith.com/heresy.php?action=aquote&id=7 …..WOW!!!
TOG: I didn’t have anything better to do at 11:45 PM this Monday, so I took a look at this site and, honestly, my head is literally spinning (I’m feeling “lightheaded”) from the rubbish I skimmed through….WOW!!! is right!
Beryle, actually Mr. Villiam11 supplied me with the info. about this cat. I knew he was a heretic but when you make statements like:
-Jesus was dragged into hell by the devil.
-Jesus was infected with Satan’s sin nature.
-When Jesus hung on the cross, it was a picture of Satan on the cross.
-God doesn’t have any legal entree on earth unless the Church releases him.
-Jesus is no longer the begotten son of God.
and probably the worst of all.
-You don’t have a god in you, you are one.
I’m telling you it really gets depressing that, not only is this gargage being taught. But most “church folk” will defend them to the death!!!
I saw Patti Labelle on TBN a couple of weeks ago and she was saying that she was going to “do” more Gospel albums, but she was a secular singer and she was going to keep singing secular songs as well. She appeared to me to be justifying doing the two by mentioning over and over that more and more churches are requesting that she come and sing for them. And using that old tired argument that “GOD is beginning to send HIS people to the secular world who are doing a NEW thing…don’t get stuck in the old traditional Gospel styles of music…” yada yada yada. Uh huh. What next?!? Fictitious scenario: OK, I see some hookers. I’m saved and have been for, oh, a minute (LOL). I’m gonna dress just like a hooker. Only difference is: I’m gonna put on a cross. I’m gonna go “witness” JESUS to them. Now, I ain’t gonna try to rebuke them for their sin (that would be JUDGING, and we don’t wanna do that). I’m gonna get enough of them together and start my first chapter of Hoes for Jesus. I’ll do everything but turn tricks. Well, maybe I’d better turn a few…didn’t Paul say we should try to be “all things to all people?!? (LOL-not) It’d be funny if this wasn’t a thinly veiled description of the church gone a-whoring after the world.
Grace and Peace. I must say that I am truly moved to pray for all who made the previous comments…I declare that you walk in integrity, that you are convicted by the words you have spoken and written.
I declare that you understand the words “Touch not mine anointed” and know that they were spoken about David not touching Saul, who was trying to kill him. Remember: Even people we don’t agree with are God’s anointed.
I pray that all of the bitterness and contention that lies within your comments is rooted out and that each of you walks in peace and love.
I pray that you take this energy that you have in villifying Bishop Eddie Long and use it to advance the Kingdom of God. You are not doing it on this site.
Hey West……..I pray that you would address the unScriptural nonsense that the “Bishop” spews.
I pray for you to justify the unequal yoking of Long with demonically inspired rap musicians.
I pray that you would find any verse in Scripture that even remotely connects the Bible with “Fresh Sperm”.
I pray that you stop supporting these pimps, for in doing so you are a partaker of their evil deeds.
And finally, I pray that you would use your Bible for more than a drink coaster………..because even a passing familiarity with Scripture makes his ignorance obvious.
Are you up to ACTUALLY defending this man’s teachings?? Have at it……….
It’s just a shame you don’t exhibit the same passion for defending the Word or the Name of God. All idols are not made of wood or stone my friend. Sometimes they come in muscle shirts.
Gary you have spoken the truth. I have a question Melvin I read that Dee had went to a link to see the fees that Jamal Bryant charges to come to a church. Could you provide or reference me to where that information is found?
Gary I remain a fan, love reading your post.
binks
AMEN, GARY!
(MN: Folks, I’m going to publish this just because I don’t know what else to do with it. Take a look and see what you think. )
Here’s the link to the updated site one of you asked for earlier today. Click here
IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST!
Man I was straight up tricked by these guys, but God revealed that to me today. A lot things about me are changing. So my site reflects that. Thanks Melvin for this site it really has affected me in a positive way. You can check the changes in my site too. All the nonsense is gone and you are about to see something better and definitely some serious sound doctrine. You are so right about Fast Eddie L. Long (The Spermanator). You are right about all these pimps. You are right about the trinity. You are right about us not being Gods or Christ. I mean you are correct. I stand corrected. Everyone is welcomed to my site. Told you all I wasn’t above correction.
Thanks everyone. I hope this gets posted.
I don’t whether to be scared or happy…
But is it just me or did anyone else not see many “changes” to the site?
(MN: General look is still the same. But contents are radically different. )
i’m curious to what brought about such a radical change? I’m not denying it. I’m just curious.
I still refuse to sleep with my eyes closed.
I bet you look right creepy………lying there in the dark, breathing heavy, grunting occasionally while you stare blankly at the ceiling. Does the casket you sleep in have a lid to keep stuff from falling onto your eyeballs while you sleep??
I use RainX
LOL!!!
lol…right about that Tweet…one of those “semi” (unsure/confused) half jumps for joy…lol
Interesting……….care to elaborate Antoine??
I was wrong about what I believed. What else do I need to say? My mind is made up, and no prosperity preacher is going to change my mind!
Ok man. Well thank God! I pray that you continue to seek truth and wisdom in your walk.
