MN: Ladies and gentlemen, I have never been one to kick a man while he was down. Well…I did once but that was only because he had taken my lollipop. These days it takes a bit more to cause me to do it.
Consider the following information about Mr. Haggard and see if we should feel sorry for him or see that God has graciously removed a man who was busy prostituting the Gospel with bad doctrine, associations with oneness preachers, and unbiblical practices. If the people at his church believed half of what he has apparently been teaching, can you imagine the devastation and disillusionment that must be going through that place? Mr. Haggard may have become the first of a series of visual aids God has so often shown Himself fond of using. If all believers are God’s anointed, it would seem that God really does get upset when you harm them as Mr. Haggard apparently has.
I’ve attached a bit of information from GaryV for you to read. You can get to the secondary source by clicking here And I suspect if you dig a little on Google you will be able to find even more. I just did a quick search on “Haggard + Tenney” and came up with a gold mine.
I had heard of Mr Haggard of course, but was not familiar with his doctrinal stances.
This is a letter to (I believe) Promise Keepers referencing Haggard’s doctrinal issues (We’ll leave aside PK’s own serious issues for the time being). The beginning of these sort of scandals ALWAYS leads back to either a misunderstanding of, or compromise of, doctrinal truth. Ted Haggard compromised, and gave satan a foothold. Let’s remember to pray for him and his family. I take this as a warning to remain on the “straight and narrow” doctrinally.
I found this link, but can’t find it again to give credit. My apologies to all for not being able to give proper credit, but I will try to locate it and post it.
The letter picks up below:
Following is a sample of his (Haggard’s) teachings and views and activities that I believe require close scrutiny and much prayer, as well as a personal confrontation with him by Promise Keepers:
· His enthusiastic endorsement of Tommy Tenney’s book, “The God Chasers”, for starters: “This is a marvelous book on the wonderful dangers of knowing God. The God Chasers is exciting, intense, unsettling and challenging. Tommy holds no punches, as he pleads with us to become desperate and determined in our pursuit of God.” I personally do not know any mature Christian who believes Tenney’s anti-Trinitarian views or this particular book ought to be pursued or endorsed.
· Mr. Haggard maintains close relationships with folk who have well-established reputations for being false prophets and false teachers. He is listed as a member of the C. Peter Wagner’s Wagner Leadership Institute , along with Cindy Jacobs, Chuck Pierce, Dutch Sheets, Tommy Tenney, and others (http://www.wagnerleadership.org/). This outfit teaches such things as the “Apostolic Realignment Empowers Transition: This course discusses the necessary role (sic) and responsibilities of Apostles that will enables churches to transition into apostolic churches. To identify and discuss some of the challenges and pitfalls that hinder as well as the practical steps and mindset changes that must be addressed to facilitate God’s New Order.” Haggard has appeared with and taught next to such questionable characters for many years, being listed as a speaker at the National School of Prophets - along with Wagner, Sheets, Mike Bickle, Rick Joyner and others , in 1999 and 2000. (http://www.letusreason.org/Latrain22.htm)
· The 1999 conference of the National School of Prophets took place in late January at Haggard’s church. At this conference, Cindy Jacobs declared, “Bourbon Street will have new wine. And the Lord says, ‘I’m going to send my young people, my young Elijahs, to these streets — and they’re gonna heal transvestites, and they’re gonna have sex-change operations just like that. I’m gonna give them what they need. I’m gonna be their lover.’” At this link - http://www.equip.org/free/DF400.pdf - you can read other outrageous comments, including some from Bill Hamon at this conference.
· Haggard opened his church up to Dutch Sheets, who brought the National School of the Prophets - Mobilizing the Prophetic Office Conference to New Life Church on May 12, 2002. Sheets is one of the Elijah List “prophets” that make outrageous claims as a matter of daily life. Subscribe to it (http://www.elijahlist.com/) for a week or two to get a taste of his theology.
· At this same conference, Haggard prayed, “Father, I thank you for those who have the office of either a prophet or a prophetess or have a strong flow in the prophetic. And Lord Jesus, we as a group of pastors, many in this room apostolic pastors, we release, we bless, we confirm the calling of the prophet - the calling of the prophetess - the calling of the prophetic, and we welcome it into the global church of the world. … And Lord God, we all love you so much and we thank you for the restoration of the apostolic and the prophetic in the local church congregation and in the global church so that we can do explosive ministry. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” This appears to clearly document Haggard’s views on modern apostles and prophets and their roles in the church. Yet Haggard’s own prophetic announcements regarding prayer for Saddaam Hussein to leave Iraq proved false. (http://www.cbn.com/spirituallife/intercession/haggard0301.asp and http://www.elijahlist.com/words/display_word.html?ID=1359 which documents in his own words his continued relationships with C. Peter Wagner, Church Pierce, and the International Coalition of Apostles.)
· In March of 2003, Haggard appeared at the Northwest Intercessors’ Conference held at City Bible Church in Portland, Oregon , along with David Yonggi Cho, Cindy Jacobs, and Chuck Pierce. (http://www.cnnw.com/events_calendar/march2k3.html) Cho is widely heralded by new age “prophets” but teaches man-centered, Shamanistic heresies under the guise of Christianity: “You create the presence of Jesus with your mouth…. He is bound by your lips and by your words….” (The Fourth Dimension, Cho, p.83)
· In a magazine article in which Haggard is encouraging his church to pray and engage in missions, he claims to have been given a vision from the Lord (which may be a true statement) and recommends books by C. Peter Wagner and George Otis. (http://www.missionfrontiers.org/1993/0708/ja938.htm)
· As President of the NAE, Haggard hosted Robert Schuller at that association’s annual meeting in February of this year. Schuller’s view is perhaps best summed up by a statement he made in a Time magazine interview in 1985 , “I don’t think anything has been done in the name of Christ and under the banner of Christianity that has proven more destructive to human personality and, hence, counterproductive to the evangelism enterprise than the often crude, uncouth, and unchristian strategy of attempting to make people aware of their lost and sinful condition.” There’s no evidence that Schuller has repented of this anti-Biblical view of the Gospel. On his “Hour of Power” show on Nov 9, 2003, Schuller said, “Yes, God is alive and He is in every single human being!” Why bring this man to speak at any Christian organization?
· In 1997, Haggard opened his church to David Hogan , a self-described apostle and veteran of the infamous Brownsville, Florida “revival” who bragged about “slaying people in the spirit” and claimed to heal folk by waving clothes at them and yelling, “Fire!” (http://www.christianissues.com/hogan.html and http://www.pfo.org/exploits.htm)
· August 31- September 6, 2004 saw the “FIRST EVER MORRIS CERULLO SCHOOL OF MINISTRY ON PRAYER AND INTERCESSION” in Dallas, Texas. Featured speakers were reported to be Rick Joyner, Dutch Sheets, John Kilpatrick, Cindy Jacobs; Tommy Tenney, Steve Hill (of Brownsville, FL infamy), Ted Haggard, Kenneth Copeland, John Avanzini, and Mike Murdock , not to mention Morris Cerullo himself. Cerullo’s own web site claims, “He received a divine, supernatural call from God to preach at the age of fifteen when God took him into the heavens and revealed Himself to him by a supernatural vision.”
Romans 1 talks about people changing the truth into a lie……see things like this is become common place!!! What happens when u change the truth of God into a lie???? INSTANT HOMOSEXUAL!!!
{
MN: I believe the jury is still on the homosexuality aspect of this whole sorry incident. )
Well, on record Haggard has not publicly admitted to lewd conduct, but recent church board documents detailing his dismissal as pastor highlighted a section which specified reasons for his dismissal and the most notable were said to be (in the statement) lewd sexual conduct.
Now, I believe we all know what sexual conduct connotates. I do not know to what degree it was, but there can only be a handfull of options when the word “sexual” is involved.

(MN: As we can see, the web has accelerated the spread of information. This is a YouTube posting of Mr. Haggard denying everything and stating that he would be exonerated. Just this evening, he has been dismissed, or at least he resigned as the head of NAE and the church in Colospigs. )
On a side note, Ted Haggard is the one who defended or spinned Pat Robertson’s words when Robertson called for the assassination of Venezuelaen President Hugo Chavez.
This is the latest news on the Haggard front………..
New Life Church Statement on Rev. Ted Haggard
Saturday, November 04, 2006
The following is a statement released on Saturday by the New Life Church of Colorado Springs, Colorado, about the resignation of the Rev. Ted Haggard:
We, the Overseer Board of New Life Church, have concluded our deliberations concerning the moral failings of Pastor Ted Haggard. Our investigation and Pastor Haggard’s public statements have proven without a doubt that he has committed sexually immoral conduct.
The language of our church bylaws state that as Overseers we must decide in cases where the Senior Pastor has “demonstrated immoral conduct” whether we must “remove the pastor from his position or to discipline him in any way they deem necessary.”
In consultation with leading evangelicals and experts familiar with the type of behavior Pastor Haggard has demonstrated, we have decided that the most positive and productive direction for our church is his dismissal and removal. In addition, the Overseers will continue to explore the depth of Pastor Haggard’s offense so that a plan of healing and restoration can begin.
Pastor Haggard and his wife have been informed of this decision. They have agreed as well that he should be dismissed and that a new pastor for New Life Church should be selected according to the rules of replacement in the bylaws.
Here is a statement by Haggard to the church……..
“The fact is I am guilty of sexual immorality. And I take responsibility for the entire problem. I am a deceiver and a liar. There’s a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I have been warring against it for all of my adult life,” he said.
God bless him………….now healing and repentance can begin.
For those who think me unnecessarily harsh toward the pimps and the pimped, please note that the reason it is so is because there is no repentance. They know what they are doing is wrong (pimps AND pimped) but they love to have it so.
Jer 5:31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love [to have it] so:
2Ti 4:1 I charge [thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
REPROVE ( to convict, refute, confute
a) generally with a suggestion of shame of the person convicted
b) by conviction to bring to the light, to expose
2) to find fault with, correct
a) by word
1) to reprehend severely, chide, admonish, reprove
2) to call to account, show one his fault, demand an explanation
b) by deed
1) to chasten, to punish,
REBUKE (to tax with fault, rate, chide, rebuke, reprove, censure severely
a) to admonish or charge sharply)
EXHORT ( to come upon)
with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
They know what they are doing just as surely as Ted Haggard knew.
The difference is…………..Haggard has finally faced the truth. And it took something so horrendously wrenching to him and his family, and to the church, to make him face it.
I wager he he would have preferred a brother with sharp words (such as we are commanded to use in the definitions above), who cared enough to tell the truth, rather than the gentle stroking he got lest the Gospel offend him.
Just a thought………
I once heard an interview on Issues etc where Haggard said he doesn’t sin everyday. I just pray that he starts to realize that his reliance on Jesus is everyday and every picosecond.
It’s like the only response, I can have in hearing this news is, WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?
This is evidence that we are not saved by are own power.
do you have a website just to publicly judge and criticise others, especially those that have fallen. I know we all fail when we get upset and we react being offended and possibly gossiping and judging, but to open it up for discussion is beyond me.
Don’t call it speaking plainly about pimpery call it judging and being opinionated!
Grow Up.
the scripture talks about not entering into gossip and OPINIONS….
(MN: Just as I tell other people who get hyperventilated when they first visit the site - breathe slowly Anonymous…relax. Take your time and let’s think things through.
Are you relaxed? Good. Let’s address your concerns as you have addressed them:
1. Publicly judge - How, exactly, did I judge Mr. Haggard for his moral failure? I did jump on his associations with heretical teachers. But this is what we are told to do.
2. Gossiping and Opinion - Where is the gossip? Everything I present is fact, based on the pimps’ own statements. I’m generally even hesitant to present information from newspapers because they sometimes get things wrong. If the teach things that don’t line up with Scripture, where is the opinion in saying so? If Hinn says “There are nine of them!” where is the opinion in drawing attention to it? Where is the opinion to say that Haggard endorses T. Tenney, a Oneness teacher who has heretical ideas of apostleship and other doctrines?
I know it’s difficult to see the Body functioning as it is supposed to. You probably see it so seldom. In fact, I’ll bet you think we should avoid talking about Hornbuckle as well. Never mind the need to warn people about the dangers of mindlessly following a man who sets himself up as The Man of God.
Okay Anonymous - do you feel better? Good. )
Hi from South Europe, I’m feeling good!
Maybe I do not understand how you do things there in the US. I live in Europe and if I actually told you what country I am from, you might not even know where it is in the map, because it is such a small place. But living in a small place involves a lot of gossip and we have had the brunt of it especially being christians. We have had to learn to always be wise with what we say and how we say it especially when are talking about someone or their ministry.
I don’t think that addressing publicly other ministries’ heretical ideas is the right way to go about it. Prayer is what works!
(MN: Galatians 2:14 ..in the presence of all. If they preach it publicly, why am I supposed to address it privately. Don’t confuse private sin with public heresy. I don’t deal in gossip. If I did, the postings would be even bigger.)
I don’t really know Ted Haggard or his ministry very well but don’t you think that opening up their mistakes and their heretical ideas (as you put it) on the net will just cause a lot more confusion to others, especially those that are young christians or non christians. (MN:It was in the news and he confessed. Besides, no one is jumping on him for his moral failings. )
Right theology is important but I believe it is love that prevails and trying to prove someone wrong is a no no to me! Anyway love covers a multitude of sins. (MN: And the theology you base this statement on is…? )
Be blessed and forgive my original comments.

Here’s what I don’t understand. Should not these pastors know that homosexuals have an agenda? I mean, their agenda is to kill steal and destroy. You see, they seek after important people in important positions and when they have done their deed, they call you out. I hear someone say once that when satan is done with you, he destroys you. These guys must know this, then again, it appears they don’t. If another high profile or any preacher falls in the same fashion, he deserves it. Listen up, THE HOMOSEXUALS HAVE AN AGENDA!!! THEY LOVE PEOPLE IN IMPORTANT POSITIONS!!! THEY SEEK WHO THEY MAY DEVOUR!!! Now who does that sound like?

If you have HBO, please check out Alexandria Pelosi’s Special called “Friends of God.” You may recognize her last name…she is the daughter of the Speaker of the House and this film highlights evangelical Christians. I am watching it now (only about 5 mintues in) and already there is some crazy stuff being said. One example, Ted Haggard (who is one of the focal points of the film) is talking about evangelicals and sex. Things that make you go hmmmmmm….Needless to say, when Ms. Pelosi finished this film, it was not long afterward that Haggard got “caught.”
