We have just under three weeks to go before The ‘Mess 2006 begins. I hope you will be there so you can get your blessing from such people as Pastor Paula White, Pastor Shirley Caesar, the Right Reverend Jamal-Harrison Bryant and a host of others. But more than that, I hope you can get your blessing from the Holy Ghost anointed entertainment.
Obviously I cannot see into a person’s heart. And it’s equally obvious that I can’t pronounce this person saved or that person not saved. Such is the case with one of the entertainers at The ‘Mess 2006. The best I can do is question the consistency of the walk of one who may claim the name of Jesus Christ or question the appropriateness of putting forth as a representative a person who may have, at best, a nominal relationship with Jesus Christ. Such, I suspect, is the case with one of the entertainers at The ‘Mess 2006.
I made my daily visit to The ‘Mess website and I was greeted by a curious sight. It appears that one of the entertainers at this year’s conference is Tommy Davidson. You may or may not know the name but I’m sure you have seen him before. He’s been in a bunch of movies and lots of television shows.
Here is a photograph of Mr. Davidson. Interestingly, this is the picture they originally had. Now there is a much more rugged looking photo.
According to his filmography and credits, Mr. Davidson has appeared in such movies as “Bootie Call” (as one of the main characters) and television shows to include Mad TV (I have to admit the show is funny, but some of the material is really, really crude) and “Living Color.” Apparently, he usually played one of Homey D. Clown’s victims in “Living Color”.
Here’s where being able to see into someone’s heart would be really useful. I did a lot of sifting through a lot of material on the web. I did various searches to see what I could come up with. I even did a search on “Tommy Davidson” and “Jesus Christ” together. I actually got a hit and thought maybe I wouldn’t have to write this post. But the link led to a listing of conferences and churches. One of the conference announcements had the phrase “Jesus Christ” in it. Another was announcing The ‘Mess and the fact that Mr. Davidson is appearing in the “Just Churchin’” show. But I couldn’t find anything that indicated that he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Even the short bio on The ‘Mess site provides no indication. Take a look at it right here
So let’s see. Last year it was Gladys Knight and Patti along with Suze Orman (apparently there are no born again financial advisors out there, or at least no Big Name advisors). This year it’s the lady from Essence Magazine, Tommy Davidson, and even more folks who have, at best, a minimal and Oprahesque link to Christianity.
Again the decisions seem to be those who make for a big draw rather than those who can credibly call us to a holy and maturing life in Christ. I’m seeing less and less of a reason to see this event anything associated with Christianity. More and more it is becoming an entertainment event pure and simple. Oh, they’re throwing religious stuff in there, but even that is being done by the Big Dogs like Jamal, Paula, and others.
But I have to admit I am impressed with the man’s abilities. Jakes has managed to put together an entertainment package which, if it didn’t have a Christian veneer on it, would be incapable of getting Pentecostals and other hard shells to attend, much less attend with each other. I guess that’s what he means by unity: getting all the religious people to assemble together under one name , T. Dexter Jakes.
Eva Pigford will also be there to speak on the Single’s Panel. She is an America’s Next Top Model winner and was just in a video with her legs wrapped around Jamie Foxx. I wonder what advice she will have to help Christian Singles live holy.
The Bible says come as you are. If you bring in thise people God will do the changing. Remember these are human beings and they have a spirit as well as we do. God can change anyone, but there has to be a starting point. Let God do the changing, because being around the power of God will change you in due time.
God never called a heathen to preach or fleece his flock. Inviting an unbeliever to church is one thing, but to make them a guest speaker is downright unbiblical.

the point is made best in James 3:11,12… salt water and fresh water cannot come form the same well. Neither can blessings and cursings. Why do folks continually think that something is so wrong with the Gospel that it needs to be tinkered with in order to apply to today’s generation??? That’s quite the opposite!! Scripture says “come out from among them and be ye seperate…” not “become one of them, so that you can reach them better, and if you get Seeker Friendly, I will do the rest… Your theory is nice about us all being spiritual beings, but when it comes to listening to and recieving (oops, I implied that man plays a part…) the word of God, the sinner can “come as you are,” but the presenter of that word must be a born again believer equipped to win souls…

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Half my graduating class from CUNY (the Bronx) was Puerto Rican and those sisters AND BROTHERS could flat-out “burn”! Hangin’ with them, I learned how to barbeque a whole baby goat they had dressed. BTW, we all lived and cooked in high-rise apartments, not house kitchens
The Flood - Genesis 6:1-7
Man, can we ever learn alot of what God’s gonna do from what He has already done and why He did it. You know The part in the passage talking about the SONS OF GOD MARRYING THE DAUGHTERS OF MEN?….
Well, after the Fall of Man (Genesis 3), when sin continually developed/increased and violence was on the rise (Genesis 4), two distinct groups began to rise: Those who show indifference to sin and evil and those who call on the name of the Lord (the descendents of Seth, Genesis 4:26).
Some scholars believe that the phrase “Sons of God” refers to the descendants of Seth, and that therefore they intermarried with Cain’s evil descendants (”the daughters of men”).
The result would’ve “weakened the good influence of the faithful and increased moral depravity in the world, resulting in an explosion of evil”…..a thing that God had to wipe out because the situation was too far gone!!!
For it to be at the point where “noted sinners are men renowned among them (Genesis 6:4), and “very much sin was committed in all places and by all sorts of people”…..and for it to be so bad to the point where the world was flooded with evil and only one true follower of God/His Laws was left in His generation (Noah….Genesis 6:8-22) whilst the number of those who remembered the God of creation, perfection, and love was practically extinct…….What other choice would you have but to wipe the slate clean!! How great was the wickedness of the people indeed!!!……and funny that it all statred with “Marriage”….
It truly was compromise that caused the Flood/First Destruction of the World…..when the godly forgot how “in all ages, there has been a peculiar curse of God upon marriages between professors of true religion and it’s avowed enemies” …and when they forgot that “for us to prefer beauty, wit, wealth and worldly honours to holiness and faith in God is to reject God’s blessings and curse ourselves, for the evil example of the ungodly corrupts the good and decays that which holds back destruction.”
We really have to pray for the situation happening in our churches today, ya’ll. God has shown us great patience, just like He did back in the day by allowing the people 120 years (and even seven days extra…Genesis 7:10) to change their ways……Praise God that He is giving us time as well to quit our way and begin living His way, the way He shows us in His Word…..But He won’t contend with Us forever…..Our time may be running out too, and we can’t see the stopwatch of God’s patience, and there won’t be bargaining for addtional time when Time’s UP!!
Pray for those who’ll attend MegaMess and that they’ll see the truth, and remember the real purpose behind marriage/unity…..not to feel good, to get excited, have a good time, get your “blessing, miracle, season and a harvest” and anything else you can get God…..but to produce “Godly Offspring”…..People who’d look, talk, and Walk like Him (Malachi 2:15)….and people who’d no longer be seeking blessings and things secondary and that only come when we’re seeking nothing else but the “Blessing of God”….Blessing Him the way He stated we should in His Word, and Seeking Him first.
