"Abstain from ALL appearance of evil." 1 Thess. 5:22
If that woman is anything close to a PRACTICING voodoo anything, she should not be invited to speak at a Christian conference. If you're going to be a speaker at a Christian conference, shouldn't a stipulation be that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior??( I don't know...maybe it's just me...)

Do you have nothing else better to do than to go around and devalue others? You have a right to an opinion, but you sound like a jilted lover. YOU seem to be hurt because they didn't allow you to do whatever and you want to bash them for the rest of your life. I see they are still prospering, no matter what you say!
NOw I am not mad or arguing with you, I just see you seem to be hurt and really believe some of the nonsense you write. Steve Harvey's performance at the Atlanta event with Jakes was not filthy. HE made a valid point. Be Patient, GOD is not through with me yet? (MN: Did you not read the posting. No one said his show was filthy. I said his website, which he maintained while performing at MegaMess 2005 was filthy. And why would I not believe some of the nonsense I write? It comes directly from the pimps' sites, speeches, and flyers. )

GOD is not through with any of us. I don't know the hearts of these men, nor do I profess to know your heart. But I can say the few times I have visited Jakes' church, he has never denied the HOLY TRINITY, as you have said. PLEASE stop being a "jilted lover". That is what jilted lovers do when their lovers dump them or would not allow them to control them. They go and use their lives trying to devalue them or stalk them or humiliate them. (MN: I thought you didn't know my heart.)

I wish you the best and for you to get all that hatred out of your heart and unforgiveness. YES JAKES, DOLLAR, THE "Money Cometh" preacher, Leroy something, SURE enough, Jaunita Bynum and others must answer to GOD only for what they have done while on this earth. BUT know that you and I must as well. Be blessed my brother.

(MN: Of course they answer to God. But what about the poor schlepps who get caught up in their heresies because no one says anything. The site is here to warn the people, not stop the pimps. Afterall, God will punish the child abuser. Does that mean we do nothing and wait for the abuser to die so he can answer to God for his sins? )

By the way I just got introduced to your website and I appreciate what you do. I am also a Yoruba, Born Again Christian.

I am Yoruba and Yoruba is actually one of the 3 major tribes in Nigeria (the other 2 being Igbo and Hausa. I will say though that the "yoruban" faith does contain a lot of voodoo, witchcraft and sorcery. The traditional yoruba belief (like most african belief system) involves the worship of false gods of which there are many variants and the most dreaded of those gods is known as 'esu' (in yoruba) - which literarily means satan. So, anyone who follows or practices any traditional African belief is ultimately worshiping the devil.
That said, it is sad to know what is going on in the body of Christ today with all these "men of God" who are held in high esteem and who's teachings are being firmly held to by many as I know in Africa. It's good that all these information are out, but I think more than just for laughs and debate, we need to pray for the Church and for people who are under the teaching of these men and don't know better. Let's also pray for these men too, because I believe not all of them started out in the error they're into now. And finally, let's pray for ourselves (who seem to know better) that the Lord Himself will keep us standing in Him and for Him - as the Bible says, "let he that thinketh he satands take heed lest he fall".

Thank you and God bless you for what you do.

I didn't say it was Voodoo. I said it is apparently something of a precursor to Voodoo.

However, I do see that one of the readers suggested it was Voodoo. Thanks for speaking up.

the yoruban faith is not voodoo-its an ancient practice that was done in the african communities before they were stolen to the new world. what mrs. vanzant teaches is kinda like a potpourri of faiths, blended, she even throws Jesus in there too, now i dont agree with what she does, however, i wouldnt call it voodoo-but its not the gospel of JESUS . its a slippery slope...but just thought i would point that out, as an african american choctaw woman, i dont know much about my ancestors faith beliefs, but i know that they worshipped a lot of things that i today would certainly call idolatry...but thats just me....

Hey Melvin,

Did you watch the BET awards tonight? Well, I was shocked--not really when Yolanda Adams, a gospel artist was singing one of Chaka's songs on the show......It was "Sweet Thang"....

What do you think about that?

One of the things that I have found interesting about these conferences is that people run to them because they think they will be edified, but yet sit like bumps on a log in their own church. They pay money for "revival" when they don't even whole-heartedly participate in worship in their own church. Sad.....

The problem I have with megafest and all these large conferences is what are they for? What is its purpose? Do they have these things to train Christians to be better witness for Christ or are these conferences geared to bring in sinners to get them saved? I've known people to have gone to these things, had an emotional experience, get home and two weeks later there's no change in them. Two months later there's still no change in them. It looks like instead of getting empowered they're getting pimped.

A conference like this brings in all these powerful speakers, who are good talker, but most of them (if not all) worship the creation as god instead of Jesus Christ as God. Soon (if they haven't already done this) they are going to start bringing in secular artist (like Erika Badu or India Arie) who are into astrology, zodiacs and worship different gods, why because they can draw a crowd.

These conferences don't theologically train people. You don't leave these conferences equipped to witness to a Jehovah Witness, a Muslim or a Mormon. You don't get sound doctrine from these gatherings. You spend three days socializing, getting good advice and having a good time. Nothing more.

The other folks certainly fill a role in the body. But most of the time, the very people they are trying to help are not going to pay attention to them. I bring up not just the theological twists but also look at the results of those twists. Most of the pimps and pimpettes I address really and truly appear to be more interested in getting stuff (usually at the sheep's expense) than preaching or teaching a specific doctrine. I have to admit I have more respect for the personal integrity of the average Jehovah's Witness or Mormon than I do for these so-called Christian leaders.

I have to admit I have more respect for the personal integrity of the average Jehovah’s Witness or Mormon than I do for these so-called Christian leaders.

I gotta say this I was checking out your site and you know I ain't going to say I'm a fan of your technique of exposing some of these folk. A brotha you might want to take note from Hank Hannegraff and John Macarthur on somethings lol. A lot of people really believe what these pastors are teaching and it's a very big shock to them to really see truth. I mean it's a big adjustment. Take if from me I grew up as a Muslim.

None the less though this was a good post. I mean it really doesn't surprise me. It's funny how this is acceptable. Like where is Norman Geisler when you need him. I mean where is Ron Rhodes, JP Moreland, Carl Ellis, heck where's RC Sproul. I mean if anything bring in speakers to this effect. I mean even Craig G Lewis has spoken out against mega fest. I mean it's ill. Again I must say that this doesn't surprise me. This is what it is. I mean if we are going to have a conference with great bible teachers and to empower people. I want to see Crawford Loritts, Tony Evans, and other who's track record is give credit to speak at a Mega Fest. I mean honestly what are they trying to empower people with. I mean if it ain't the Spirit of God then boy Houston we have a problem.

I may have to edit the post.

Ms Taylor, from Essence will be there. Ms. Taylor is promoting the Yoruba Priestess who is appearing at an Essence seminar along with T. Dexter.

You mean to tell me that the yoruba priestess is coming to mega fest, eh mega mess this year? I was going to go this year, but the spirit told me to stay home and to stay away--

I mean, next they might invite Howard Stern or even Mancow or Opie and Anthony. I'm seeing it coming folks....

Well, megamess seems to be a sad ever evolving process - Susan Taylor's at the megamess this year -Iyana's at the Essence conference this year.... could be an open door for her to attend megamess next year - it's all a circuit anyway. It's very unfortunate since the line between christianity and the world has become blurred in that place. No actually, and quite unfortunately, that conference has no lines - the whole thing is becoming a melting pot with NO standard... What a sad testimony for the Potter's House. Makes you wonder what kind of clay is that and who is working the wheel....

So, let me get this straight...correct me if I am as far off bases as I would like to be: The priestess, who seemes to be more into polytheism and animism (including worship of ancestors) is speaking at a Christian conference? Now, this is the point that you tell me that I am wildly off key in thinking this is what you are saying, and we all have a good laugh (and gladly) at my expense.

Stop!

Please stop making me laugh. This is not a funny matter.

Personally, I've never had an interest in attending the so-called "Megamess". Based upon your description, it sounds like an event that attracts a lot of worldly and non-converted believers.

Iyanla Vanzant obviously is not a Christian if she practices voodoo and worships false gods. Jakes might as well have a witch-doctor speaking. Iyanla probably communicates with spirits of the dead. Forces will certainly follow her to the event.

Are you assuming Jakes had no knowledge of her practices or he did not care? Which one?

I wouldn't go if someone offered to pay my way.

MN: Didn't mean to imply that the Yoruba Priestess would be there. Rather, the editor of Essence, who fully supports the Yoruba Priestess will be there. And T. Dexter is sharing the stage with the priestess earlier, at the Essense seminar. And I am assuming that Jakes doesn't care about the people he will be appearing with. He also doesn't care about you.)
