I was about to go to bed but decided to check my e-mail. The publicity machine run by Pimpasaurus Rex (aka Eddie Long) sent me a message. I won’t say much about it. Take a look at the play list for the Easter celebration. Click here.
Bottom left-hand side of the e-poster. You see her? Yeah, that’s Pattie “”Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?” LaBelle. She’s one of the show’s performers.
But I really got a blast when I looked at some of the pre-Easter activities taking place on April 15th. We’re going to have haircuts, medical screenings, Medicare prescription coverage service and food. But my favorite activity is…well, rather than tell you, click here and try not to laugh/cry your butt off. I keep getting the image of hundreds of men, bending over and grabbing the edge of an exam table. And it’s an image I didn’t need just before I went to bed.
What’s wrong with giving men the opportunity to have a prostate exam? Do you know that many black men have prostate cancer and may not know it? I just lost an uncle to it last year. It is one of the leading cancers in black men in this country. Maybe there will be lots of men there who may not have medical insurance or coverage for that exam. Why must everything be a joke to you, especially something as serious as prostate cancer? I just feel that you go over the top a little. Also, what’s wrong with Patti LaBelle? She made that song a long, long, long, long time ago, and she has always declared her love for Jesus. I have seen her in concert several times and she always talks about her faith in God and her walk with Christ. Does God not love and forgive her? Didn’t your mother or aunts or even you sing that song yourself, or danced to it at a party way back in the day? Melvin, is this the best you could come up with regarding this wonderful Easter celebration. I hope and pray that it is successful and that these brothers get their health in order. God Bless that celebration!
Ditto!!! I agree, everything is over the top. There’s nothing wrong with offering health screening exams for people with or without health insurance on Easter or any other time of the year. There are people who are not able to afford adequate health insurance. There is so much contempt that its become impossible to see any good at all. Patti LaBelle has never been a favorite artist of mine, but it’s only church folks who can’t let go of what a person used to be. I pray that Ms. LaBelle continues to strengthens her walk with the Lord. I pray that God sends brothers to this event and they won’t be hesitant to get check out. God get glory when we take care of our health!!!
Did I not make myself clear. Ms. LaBelle didn’t “used to do that song (and others).” She STILL does that song (and others). It’s not a matter of forgiving her for what she used to do. Heck, if Jesse “Having My Baby” Jackson were to demonstrate (through his words and actions) that he has turned away from the silliness he does, I would be more than willing to forget about it. Same with LaBelle.
I was pretty awful in God’s eyes when I was unsaved. Who am I to hold someone’s past sins against them. Rahab was a prostitute. But her faith (backed by action) put her in the blood line of the Messiah. But that is the key. Do you really think Rahab would have ended up being the great grandmother of David he she had continued plying her…uh…wares among the Israelites?
Do you really think a woman who sings “Would you like to sleep with me tonight?” as a part of her CURRENT stage act, should then sing about Jesus Christ? You have to help me out here. I’m not talking about what she did in the past. I’m talking about what she is doing in the present.
And to the other one in general, surely you are not going to equate getting a prostate exam with healing. Jesus’ healing did not involve any orifices or digits entering those orifices.
But you’re right. It isn’t any great sin. Tacky and consistent with the general philosophy most of these guys operate under. That being: Do whatever you can to attract people. And if you have to actually mention the Gospel, then, okay go ahead.
Whatever happened to the free clinic? Maybe, they can do pap smears for the ladies too.
(MN: They’ll prabably do that the day before Mother’s Day. After all, do you know how many of the people whose lives are saved by PAP smears are women?)
there’s nothing like sharing the gospel when people are in compromising positions. I’ll leave it at that don’t want to get too graphic, this is a PG-13 site, but you get the point.
I think Melvin’s concern is with the true mission of the Church of Jesus Christ. Is offering medical exams the mission of the Church? Yes, Jesus and the apostles healed people; but those were signs and wonders to authenticate themselves (and their message) as God’s ambassadors. Hospitals have the mission to heal physical maladies, not the Church of Jesus Christ.
Dear WOW: Boast no more so very proudly, do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and with Him ACTIONS ARE WEIGHED! 1 Samuel 2:3
Assuming a church should spend their resources with such exams, why do it as a part of the celebration of Easter? There are 51 other weeks in the year. Why tie it to Easter?
And please, stop with the indignation routine. While I certainly wouldn’t minimize the death of your relative, his circumstance doesn’t make this one any less lacking in sensibility. Why tie a prostate exam to Easter? Why not, if the church should do it at all, have the exam during the Newbirth Summer Festival, or whatever they want to call it (I’m sure they’ll have something. What next? Gynecological exams for women who don’t have insurance? Or maybe free deliveries right there at the festival.
Ms. LaBelle sang the song years ago. But according to a news article, she was singing the song, and other classic LaeBelle songs on March 28, 2006 at a concert in Florida. But by your argument, maybe she’s stopped singing it since then. And afterall, that was three weeks ago. Can’t we forgive people for what they did in their youth?
And I’m afraid I fail to see what mouthing things about Jesus have to do with her being a Christian. I do believe many of the rappers (the more foul-mouthed variety) including Li’l Kim (when she wore the pasties to the music award) thank God, Jesus and their mommas for their success. Which counts more, their words or their actions?
By the way, with respect to real live Christianity, the Eddie Longs of the world are a joke. I just worry about the people these jokers are going to drag into hell with them.
Though this comes a little late, I just happened to view the photographic playlist for this past Easter’s celebration, and was shocked at the striking resemblence of Mr. Long to Rev. Ike. Anybody remember him?
To answer:
Why tie a prostate exam to Easter?
Probably because there are good handful of folk who only attend church on Easter, Christmas and Mother’s Day (and possibly a funeral). You know how it is…:-)
To Tweet: Exactly; these are known as CME Christians–christmas, mother’s day, and easter.
Why even heal someone on the sabbath….as Spike Lee would say….wakkkkkkkkkke (wake) up……..
I do agree with you Melvin on the fact that Ms Labelle should not be singing in the church because of her current actions however I have no problem with men getting an exam on Easter (could it have been done earlier in the year I’ sure it could have). I’m not sure what his thought is maybe it’s that most men do not come to church but on certain Sunday’s (CME) Christmas, Mother’s day and Easter.
While, those of you continue to criticize the church. I would love to know who in your everyday life are you helping. We in the body of Christ are to assist and Love one another. Judge not least you be judged.
(MN: Pay attention. We’re not criticizing the Church. We are warning you about pimps taking advantage of the Church. )
Leigh, WHY is it that those who advocate the abandonment of discernment always trot out the lame retort “What are YOU doing?”??
Possibly you could enlighten us?? Isn’t it rather MORE likely that folks who spend their time and treasure warning against apostasy and pimpdom will also be involved in other tasks??
After all, you’re only here because some of us ARE doing something, right?? BTW………what are YOU doing??
Is Tyrese a believer? I noticed he’s doing a resurrection concert.
I suppose it’s alright for a church to have screenings for prostate cancer whenever it deems necessary, but the timing is the only thing questionable about this one…right before Easter?!? My church has a Summer and Fall Health Fair. To each his own. Patti Labelle is confusing to the babes in CHRIST. No man can serve two masters. If you’re going to continue to sing “Lady Marmalade” that’s your prerogative but don’t come to the church and sing Gospel music and not expect confusion. Used to be back in the day even unsaved folks had enough fear of GOD in them to not stand before HIM in HIS house and tempt HIM to wrath, but now….anything goes. People who came to sing on Sunday morning were not only singing the Gospel, they were LIVING it (what a novel concept). It used to be a MINISTRY done unto the LORD. I’m not saying I’m so saved I don’t know the words to the song, I do. What I’m saying is I’m a musical purist. I don’t feel you can “gitchi gitchi yaya dada” at the Convention Center and then come to church and minister effectively the WORD of GOD through song. “Come out from among them and be ye seperate, the LORD says…and THEN I’ll recieve you.” That and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee…
Why should it make a difference when health screening are done? Just as long as they are done.
I wonder how often does this church do this? Thank God they are active in their community. In some neighborhoods, the community wouldn’t know the church was there if the church building did exist.
OD,
Question…What do you think about churches that absorb a communities revenue, turn their backs on the community that has supported them for years, and move to rural areas to build monster churches?
Actually, I interested in anyone’s response to this question, its just OD sparked the question with his/her comment.
Hum, good question! Is that what this ministry has done? At any rate, some questions regarding why the ministry moved to a rural area would have to be answered? Was space to expand the ministry? Was the ministry land locked? Was the old sanctuary kept and still used to support the community? Was it cost effective to purchase extra land or to move?
Oftentimes, it seems that churches are moving to rural areas to expand the facility. My opinion is most churches that are preparing to expand have lost sight of the community way before they actually leave. the focus is more on growing the church than it is giving to the local community. As a matter of fact, it seems like the only thing that they are giving to the local community is Sunday morning traffic jams.
It seems like these church become country clubs in the middle of these community, only serving its members, then they leave once they have gotten enough resources.
I think it would be a great thing if churches woud limit there membership, and when they reach a certain number of ministers they branch off. This would require the pastor to be willing to delegate out his role, and spend his time discipling, as opposed to running around preaching at other churches and such.
I agree 100% with Damagoh! First Baptist Church of Glenarden is a perfect example of what he’s talking about.
On another note…I understand that Pastor Jenkins was preaching a sermon in the recent past about people who have been in the church, under “sound” doctrine and “good” teaching, for years and still won’t do what they’re supposed to. I was told that he said that those people need to get out of the church…to stop coming. Am I the only person that believes that people like that are, to a degree, a reflection of the church leadership and doctrine they’re under? I know that you can’t blame their behavior on their pastors, but if the doctrine is so “sound” and the teaching is so “good”, how could those people feel comfortable coming to hear that “sound” doctrine Sunday after Sunday, and that “good” teaching Tuesday after Tuesday, and continue living a ragedy life? I think one of the reasons for this problem is the failure of the church to speak honestly about sin and the wages of sin. Any thoughts anyone?
Tanisha,
Ditto, ditto, ditto! You need good discernment in order to recognize the “promotional” hype comments spoken of himself, the ministry, or others.
When you hear comments like, “I know I’m preaching God’s word…..I know I’m preaching the truth…..”, that’s a form of salesmanship.
My favorite line goes like this, “I’m preaching straight from the Bible”. Any preacher can say that. That doesn’t mean they’re preaching sound doctrine. The most popular preachers are teaching the greatest amount of heresy.
Another strategy is to ask questions designed to get the congregation to raise their hands in agreement with you. Again, it’s all self promotional hype!
Of course, if John knows the individual is sinning, or the deacons know he or she is sinning, do they correct the brother or sister, or do they just look the other way?
Afterall, if leadership were to correct the miscreant, that person (with their money) might leave. You wouldn’t want that.
And talking to John, face to face, about specfics, I know he refuses to talk to people he knows for a fact are being disobedient. His excuse? “If I were to correct everyone who sins, I’d be correcting everyone.”
No, Just start with the ones who he knows are living with someone (same sex or not). Then go from there. I can bet you if he did that, most of the blatant sinners would find another church - oh wait. I think I just figured out why he doesn’t do that. Never mind.
Yea, we got rid of you!
No. You did not get rid of me. I left. I didn’t want to get pulled down the same rat hole John has dragged you down. As a person asked earlier, if FBCG is such a wonderful place, shouldn’t you be grieved that I would walk away from the truth like that? After all, I didn’t make trouble when I was there. I questioned John one-on-one and made sure I understood what he was saying. How spiritual and caring is it to be cheering when someone falls away from the truth as you surely must think I did?
Well from what I know FBCG will still hold evening services, ministry meetings, etc at the old facility. So they will still have a presence in the community.
Thanks for letting everybody know that bit of information. We are not leaving the community! FBCG will still have a presence in Glenarden! Pastor knows what he is doing!
And you can thank me for being willing to post it.
Well, what do you mean by a presence? a physical presence?
Like I said many churches leave the community well before they physically do. Okay, I’ll bite…they will leave their annex in Glenarden, so the community will have the school and possibly evening services.
I’m curious, What do you think FBCG contributes as a church to the community?
thx.
i think the health screenings are a wonderful idea, for those who dont have coverage, for those who may not be in the know about the silent cancers, i dont see anything wrong with the health screening, now ms. patti-i dont think she should be part of it, at least not on stage, and tyrese said he rededicated, but his new album leaves me wondering…but i do hope they offer paps for women, too many die of ovarian cancer and dont bother to every get checked, so if some of the parrishoners happen to be ob/gyn’s i say more power to them, we need more pro bono health care in the inner city, i dont attend this church or live in GA but i know that if more churches did this type of thing, a lot more of our saints would at the least have a better understanding of sound health care, or simply be aware of whats going on in their bodies….just my opinion yall.
It’s not a matter (necessarily) as to when health screenings are done— but rather is this “ministry” operating under the will or the Lord and not just their own agendas (you know, just another “event” to check off on the calendar for this year). Those of you who have been or are heads over certain ministries entrusted to you should know what I mean—- any ways… let’s just compare this celebration with what the word of God says (pardon me if you will fam…but I’m just a truth seeking Bible thumper who could care less to speak of my own opinion)… first off, correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t remember seeing in the Bible (The New Testament to be exact) where there was any indication that we (as THE CHURCH/BODY OF CHRIST) are to serve/cater to the world/community in this fashion as Mr. Long and his congregation is about to do. (If anyone believes otherwise please show me only in scripture)
I’m not down south and I’ve never been to one of his “events”/”outreaches” that he has down there. Now the Bible does teach us to be charitable and give to the poor or to those who ask of us, etc. (Luke 6:27-36)— and nothings wrong with that of course yet don’t forget, that even the world does this… but it’s a good work no matter what time of the year it’s done so that’s not the case… the question again is: Is this in the will of God or not? Is this what they (New Birth) “think” or “feel” the Lord Jesus would have them to do? or is this what they “know” the Lord Jesus would have them to do?… And if this is in the perfect will of God are they going to preach the Gospel of Christ to the lost? or are they, like some, going to just have an event like festival for the community to enjoy and then go home?….just something to think about—and those of us who have had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Long can pretty-much discern the heart/motive of this “celebration” and therefore we raise our eyebrow at EVERY thing these FALSE MINISTERS come up with especially any event that will draw more people for them to mislead because we can discern the root of their cause.
So yes, I do agree with Melvin when he stated above: ”
Reason being, if you listen to Mr. Long you will see quickly that he does not TRULY teach or bring the WORD of GOD in all truth even to the Christians/bench warmers he preaches to, so why would he bring the Gospel of Christ in all TRUTH?
It’s not about assumption or being overly dramatized, it’s about TRUTH and REALITY! No! These folks ain’t our brothers and sisters in Christ, esp. when they are preaching another gospel and blatantly misinterpreting scripture…. (Galations 1:6-10) I’m trying my best not to write a book but even our Lord Jesus spoke well to the leaders of His day, which I believe is even applicable to the leaders of our day, when He said: Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ” These people DRAW NEAR to Me with their MOUTH, and HONOR Me with their LIPS, but their HEART is FAR from Me. And IN VAIN they WORSHIP Me, TEACHING as DOCTRINES the COMMANDMENTS OF MEN (Matthew 15:7-9)–We must be careful with what we place before the name of the Lord, thanking Him for things He didn’t do nor authorize (Matthew 7:21-23). Beloved do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.(1John 4:1)—
Again, while this event with free exams, may be a good deed and all, we must still say, is this in line with the will of our Father in Heaven? Remembering that even Satan has ministers too transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness….(2Corinthians 11:14:15) It’s kinda wild, cause if you look at the flyer and the bill board on it–it says nothing about Jesus which seems to be pretty common now days with “Church advertisements”, they always have every thing listed but Christ, whom they claim they are honoring and giving glory to.
Oh yeah, and Overly Dramatized, I would be careful thanking God for them being active in their community (teaching heresies and doctrines of demons) remember that the blind lead the blind and they both fall into a ditch and we know that is not the will of the Lord for those communities down there. Lastly,… there are A LOT of church buildings around here in the U.S. yet there are only a few (compared to the many) that actually have a CHURCH gathering inside them…….
***Only in the name of Christ Jesus~
***Much love to the Saints who don’t bring shame to His name!!!***
CALLING ALL SAINTS! CALLING ALL SAINTS!
Do you want to be a good steward of your finances according to the Scriptures? Do you want to (1) study to show yourselves approved unto GOD (not flesh), rightly dividing the Word of Truth? (2) Want to see an example of “let God be true and EVERY man a liar” and (3) “in the mouth of two or more witnesses, let every word [of God] be established”?
First: here on Melvin’s Home Page, at the top of the column where the postings begin, under the title Pages, click on Various Essays. On that page, left-hand side, click on the second entry down, Tithing - Yet Another Approach. Print out the 35 pages. Read through then study WITH YOUR BIBLES open. Here’s just a taste of Truth: The House of the Lord?
“Having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:20-22
Second: Type in apostasywatch.com. In the left-hand column click on Articles. On the next page, scroll down to e-books. Click on E-Book - The Tithe That Binds. The article is 108 pages long. Both articles are fit for a Berean’s library. Fasten your seat belts and get ready to get understanding! Here is another tidbit straight from the Bible:
“Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the Law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron? For when the priesthood is changed [JESUS], of necessity there takes place a change of law also” [new covenant]. Hebrews 7:11-12.
This clearly dispels the despicable lies of the current brood of vipers and thieves who call themselves “priests” and “profits (profitesses)” in today’s organized dens of robbers called “churches.”
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Beryle
(MN: Thanks - the check’s in the mail. )
When Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans, the church of Scientology went down en masse. They were highly organized, and if I recall correctly, they were easily visible because they all were wearing Yellow T-shirts. If socialism, works, charity, etc, were all that were necessary to be considered a great ministry, than I nominate Michael Jackson, because of “We are the World.” Charitable works are great for the church, but without the WORD, they create “whitewashed tombs full of deadmen’s bones.”
P.S. I think they should have offered the prostate exam during the singles “conference.” THAT would have been good timing!
I think the prostate exam is for those people who only come to church on Easter, they can reach the most people that way. Its no different than not having a tent revival on a rainy day. Turnout wont be what it could have been. They are spreading their nets out further and wider.
Im sure this wasnt some sick plot to artificially inflate attendance numbers.
So this is not friendship evangelism but proctological evangelism. Hmm. Let’s see. Where exactly is this approach to evangelism covered?
I can see it now:
Yeah. That works.
But hy stop there? Why not have gynecological evangelism or urological evangelism, or dermatological evangelism?
That must be the mistake Jeremiah made when he spent all that time talking to Israel, warning them that they needed to change, only to have no one listened. Obviously he should have tried Circumcision evangelism for those who couldn’t afford to go to the temple and have a priest perform rite.
All of you “holy” people with health insurance think this is a joke…ha!ha! When you don’t have health insurance or permanent employment, you take your exams where they are offered. And considering the number of deaths in the Black community for lack of such…you should at least be applauding this effort. and yes, why not any and all testing? I check into this site from time to time, but frankly, you are now coming across as off the chart. It’s fine to inform, but the nicknames, the holier than everybody thing is becoming a turn off. Give the biblical and keep the rest. I attend one of the “brothel churches where the pimps rule”, and frankly I got help there when your so-called government who takes you money BEFORE you see it wouldn’t help a sister out…they just let you die off.
Sure. In fact, why not have making a church big and wealthy as a standing goal. Then each one can collect enough money to give all the members and whoever else may come along whatever kind of health care they need? Never mind the building, the church could contract with a hospital (using some of the money it collected) to care for the church members and the people who live in the neighborhood.
We could hire doctors and nurses who are willing to work for very little. We could appeal to the members to provide the funding and establish a single location where people can be taken care of and told of the love of Jesus Christ at the same time.
Again, the question is not “Are these good things to do?” Certainly they are. The question remains: “Is the church organization here to ‘minister’ to the neighborhood or develop saints who can, if God moves on their hearts to do so, establish the services you are talking about.
I Cor, Eph, and other places speak of the purpose of the local body. And it is not to provide health care to the masses. And remember, I don’t believe it is the purpose of the government to provide such things either.
Again, why stop at prostate exams? Let’s take up mulitple collections, buy equipment, get some doctors and nurses willing to donate their time, and start of a volunteer hospital. Oh wait. That’s already been done. Most of the hospitals with denominational names started pretty much that way. But in general, they were started by individuals, moved by God, not Church CEOs, moved by who knows what.
And remember, I didn’t say the jokers are evil people for giving the test. They may be tacky for doing as a part of Easter celebration, but there is no commandment against tacky.
But I will conitnue to point out that they are giving more effort to get people into the building, than they are in getting Jesus Christ into the people. I’ve listened to more of Long’s sermons than I would care to admit. Every once in a while, the Jesus of the Bible actually shows up. There rest of the time, it’s all show. Drawing people in for the show is simply drawing people into hell, and making them pay for it.
— The fact that the agenda is to get more people inside those walls to pay that note $$$, $$$ and to continue their lifestyles (the pastor and their families) is true, believe it or not it’s true (you can deny it if you want but it’s true).
— Watch how much time they spend on the sermon and how little time the people get at the altar.
— Watch how much time is spend on telling you why you should give and how little time is spent on teaching and educating you on the word of God
— Watch how much time is spend on telling you to increase your faith and you can make it and how little time is spent on telling you that the wages of sin is death.
— People of God, it is time that we (we) wake up and hear what thus say the Lord and obey his (God not man) word. It’s all kinds of signs that God has point out to show us what is occuring before our very on eyes.
Be blessed
However I’m so glad that God will still bless in the midst of our mess. I pray that someone was able to benefit from the exam.
I don’t understand some of the comments, but then again I don’t understand some of the people who say they are Christians…
(MN: Sorry to intrude. Which ones don’t you understand [except for the 5% space cadet that passed through last week])
Okay,do you think the pimps (and even the good guys) will ever stop using the pagan celebration EASTER!! period. I’m not a prude or fanatic; but easter is pagan, period. I will not go into details, I know you know and I know that they know.
Mimes and clowns in the church…clown ministry??? In my opinion it is an oximoron and moronic! Is that a part of a new six-fold ministry that is now also a part of the new Judas gospel. Or is it the gospel according to pimps and pimpettes? If they did a research on Pan to mimes (GK mythology) they would beg GOD for forgiveness on leading HIS people astray!
Holy Hip Hop??? holiness is good enough by itself, it needs hip hop to draw crowds. Hip hop was and is doing just fine w/o holiness.
I agree, if the person is/has repented (that is a 180 and not a 360!) then we should be loving and accepting and gracious and forgiving and forgetting. But if they are still doing it all under the auspices that God (maybe their little ‘g’ god is) is/has blessed them…then they really need to read for themselves what the bible says on the issue.
For the purpose and trickery of getting more money for self and business and extravegance (sp) yes, you’d better have an extensive, eloquent, charismatic command of the English language. Also be able to use your thesaurus so that you can substitute big sounding words for ones that would be much simplier. ANd, and use that word 5 to 7 different ways while never really getting to the point or the scripture.
But to tell the people, GOD’s people the unadulterated words from the Bible, to tell them that they will die in their sins “IF”…. to warn the people, God’s people of God’s contingencies (the ifs, ands, buts, whens) of the Bible — you may not have as many people and/or the people with the big and deep pockets in your church. yep, your church, organiztion, building. Cause GOD’s church, the one that Jesus would be proud to give a sermon in, would not look like your pharasaic; sad-u-see-ic buildings and organizations.
One more thing, will you pimps please read all of 1 cor chapters 12-15, then research, of course pray and ask for wisdom, understanding and interpretation of what you are reading about speaking in tongues! If one more overbearing penecostal woman ask me if “I have been baptized by the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues” I believe i will scream “…and have you asked the Holy Spirit for the interpretation of what you just said?” The apostle said that though he had the gift of tongues even better than they did, that he would rather speak five words with his mind than 10,000 with tongues? Or that only 2 no more than 3 should speak in tongues and then in turn (meaning they had control over their mouth) and then there should be an interpreter? That tongues is for the edification/benefit of others? That if everyone spoke in tongues that and unbeleiver would think they are mad? Doesn’t the bible also say that they gift of prophesying was to be desired over tongues?
Tongues is not a sign of holiness just as a long dress is not a sign of a ‘good christian woman!
Women hooping and hollering and saying “oscarmeyerwannahotdog” or kayaytalaboka, hymainmaumteelsieltalkdabodyushalushla — yep, that is what it sounds like to me. Can you tell me what that is? Can they tell me what God has said to them? Will the man of GOD (even if it is a false god-he will have someone to interpret, for how else can the others or even he do his bidding?) interpret?
Naw, I’m not perfect. I can read though. And I do ask for interpretation of all the words that I read in English. I only speak English.
EXAM: the true word of God is going forth in a Spanish speaking church. I only speak English. How can I be edifified (nourished) or say the “AMEN” if I do not understand what has been said. If there was no one in that church to interpret what the one speaking was saying, how can I pass it on (dicipleship)?
If any of you pastors, teachers, ministers visit this site, I pray that you are convicted by the WORDS OF GOD’s Word, His Bible and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Repent from pimp the pulpit. Repent from lying to those who are earnestly seeking God’s truth. Begin to trust GOD, Jehovah, for real. If you want a business have a business. Stop using the church, the people to get rich. Then bragging about your prosperity and what you have attained.
Anyway, I’ll stop here.
Now that was a for real response, very well written, and that was a very clear example, thank you for that post.
From the way some of you speak, it becomes difficult to tell if you’re envious of these people or if you’re really trying to sound the alarm in warning the body of Christ. Some of this really reads like envy and jealously and others ..oh well, neither side would win any souls to christ if an unbeliever were to view it.
(MN: The site is not here for the unbelievers. It’s here to warn the believers. )
Since it’s on the worldwide web, I’m sure unbelievers will cross it. How much help is it giving to babes in Christ? At any rate, it isn’t bring God Glory at all, but then maybe this site purpose isn’t to bring or give God glory at all.
(MN: The purpose of the site is exactly what I have said: TO WARN THE CHURCH about the pimps. Occassionally, as it fits, the gospel in and of itself will be addressed. Believe it or not, presenting the Gospel is not the only way to give glory to God. Fighting heresies (this site) is also a way. Besides, if your underwear is in that much of a knot about having a site present the gospel, create one on your own. But don’t sit there trying to snipe at me for not doing what YOU think I should do. It’s undignified.
The site gives a great deal of aid to babes in Christ. It warns them against the pimps and encourages them to get the heck out of the pimps’ cathouse. But what do babes in Christ have to do with unbelievers? )
I don’t intend to make this personal or spar back and forth, but what you accuse me of, you do to others and I will have to agree with you yes, it is undignified. Remember you set the tone for it. The concept derived could have very well been pure initially, but its the attitude that brings into question your real motive for this site. I believe the invitation you extended for me to leave this site is one of the same distasteful control tactics of some of the people “pimps in the pulpit” you profile on this site use to control individuals who may disagree with them. Don’t do what you accuse other of doing and then make it right because you’re doing it.
Yo’ll have to help me out here.
What did I accuse you of?
When did I tell you to leave the site? All I said was to start a site that evangelizes if your shorts are in that much of a knot. At no time did I tell you to leave. Surely you can run a site and still visit this one. So how was my comment telling you to leave the site?
On occassion I have indeed banned people from the site. But that is usually because they are repeating themselves mindlessly or have been somewhat abusive. You have been neither. Why would I wish to ban you? I suspect you can contribute a great deal to the conversations. You simply have to not expect people to be overly gentle with you. That appears to be one of the characteristics of this kind of communications. It’s little more honest and unvarnished than most face-to-face discussion.
How, exactly, did I set the tone for your sniping? I have explained many times that this site is not here to evangelize. I made it clear again in my response to you.
And what, exactly, is my attitude? I know I don’t tolerate repeated atempts of people to change or redefine the purpose of this site. Is that bad? If it is, how is it?
And what are the distasteful tactics I use on this site? I post virtually every comment. Those I disagree with I post before I even have a chance to formulate a response. Often, I don’t respond until several others have responded.
So again, what, exactly, are the distateful tactics? I’m really curious.
Melvin please have your webmaster fix the text over-lapping problem. See Tanisha’s comment above. The Messenger’s comment is not readable. I’ve seen this occuring with other posted comments.
Anon- Unfortunately, the problem has more to do with the browser (I bet you’re using Internet Explorer, an application my vastly overpriced webmaster describes as a waste of system memory) than the site itself.
If you have problems, try changing the font size within the browser. If you are using IE, got to “Vie” in the menu bar, select text size, and change the size of the text.
For a more permanent solution, my VOWM suggests you move to Mozilla Firefox, a rather versatile browser. Even I can use it.
I want to comment about Eddie Long’s Easter celebration and the prostate exams.
First, I have a friend who attends the church, she told me about the festivities. Well of course in his fashion he presented Jesus’s last days on earth in a hip hop way.
I really don’t know what to say about this as of yet but it does bother me that the bible nevers seems enough for some folk.
Second and lastly, If a person was actually diagnosed with an enlarged prostate would they be admitted to a hospital by the examers during the Easter celebration?
For the ones who do not have health coverage, how will they pay for it? Is new birth going to pay for them?
I don’t understand the purpose of having all these things at the church and then not being able to find solutions for the people. Really, is there a healing tent?
Overall, what I’m saying is that I’ve been to his church a few times and I have honestly never heard him say Jesus is the anwser to these problems. The Gospel is not preached.
I believe he has enough money in reserve to help quite a few people.
Oh by the way, my friend is a single mother and she still does not have her new car!! (only for those who remember his promise)
Have a great day Melvin!
I love your site, haven’t been in a while but its always great to come back!
Let me clearly elucidate my problem with this………..
I am not against prostrate exams.
I am not against healthcare.
I am not against festivals/carnivals/circuses.
However………..I am against ALL of them intruding upon the day used to commemorate THE DAY WHEN CHRIST ROSE FROM THE DEAD.
Is there no reverence??? Is there no holiness??? Is there no respect for the solemnity of the day??
Get your friggin’ rectal exam on another day………imbeciles. Sacrilegious, profane imbeciles.
