Let’s pay a little more attention to I.V, Bridget his wife, and their third daughter, Pastor Irishea before we move on. I’ve seen them on television before. I believe the daughter has a program called “Get Real” or something like that. Both the husband and the wife have been known to preach on a Sunday morning. If you remember, Bridget Hilliard celebrated her fiftieth birthday a couple of weeks ago. Not only were the New Light pimps willing to advertise the “soiree” before hand, they took pictures of the whole thing. The good thing about the event is they didn’t try to hide what they were doing. We’re back! It seems traffic on the site has increased so much that we had to increase the size of the server we are using. I must say I was surprised at that particular turn of events.
My vastly over-priced webmaster did the yeoman’s share of the work involved in getting the site back up. In fact, if the truth be known, I just sat, wrang my hands, and nattered on about how the we gotta get the site back up. He identified the problem, figured out the cause, and better than that, figured out how to get us back on line.
Well, we’re back. And we’re planning a couple of improvements I think you will really like. I’ll tell you about them in the coming weeks.

I went out to the construction site to take a look at the new worship center John Jenkins is erecting in Kettering. It’s really starting to shape up. It appears to be a nice roomy place. In fact, unlike Evangel Temple’s giant mushroom across the street from Six Flags, it actually looks kind of tasteful. Not exactly Baptist, so to speak, but tasteful. My only concern is that once he moves into the new building, once he “proves” himself to the Big Dogs, the congregation is going to pay the price as he moves them further and further into Word of Faith heresies and incidental materialism. As I said in a comment: I fear it is going to be a place of empty preaching and emptier people.
I love visual aids when I teach. And Carlton Pearson is a spectacular visual aid I can use to explain at least one of the subtleties of this site. And yes, smash-mouth can have its subtleties. (more…)

I used to think the Word of Faith (WoF) doctrine was one hundred percent Bible-based. But now I know it is not. I grew up in WoF churches for most of my life, and looking back, I see I only saw God as a God of miracles, healings and money. Funny enough, that was not all He was. (more…)
So, we go from a professor at a Baptist seminary (Joel Gregory) to a speaker from the Assemblies of God and Rhema training center (Nance). I’ve heard of being eclectic , but this borders on cognitive dissonance. Thus the amorphous blob in the shift from Gregory to Nance.
Let’s face it. Unless Dr. Gregory is a closet charismatic, or Nance secretly denies the basics of Pentecostalism, John Jenkins is calling in two men who hold to two distinct and, in this case, mutually exclusive views.
But despite what the two men may believe, the sign outside FBC Glenarden says, here let me say it slowly, B-A-P-T-I-S-T. By definition, Nance, as a graduate of an Assemblies of God Bible College and a graduate of the Rhema School of Astral Projections and Nifty Visions holds to many things that are an antithesis to Baptist doctrine. By the way folks, here’s something you may be interested in. It’s a gathering of apologists up near Harrisburg PA.
I’ve sent in my money and plan on being there (if the Lord don’t come and the creek don’t rise, of course).
While I’ve never spoken with the hosts, the speakers seem to be of pretty good repute though obviously I can’t categorically vouch for them. I can’t vouch for their teaching ability either.
Still and all, it should be, at a minimum, an interesting excursion and a couple of days away.
Now I should warn you that they are pretty much Reformed Presbyterian in nature. Though that isn’t a bad thing by any means from my point of view.

Since I tend to do smash-mouth apologetics, I hope they don’t squirt me with the ammonia water the trainers use on dogs.
I’ve already signed up, sent in my money and am counting on getting my FREE CD of the conference. If they don’t mind, I might even try to post a segment or two of the presentations.
