You noticed the device? Any idea of what it is? A nuclear weapon perhaps? A cluster bomb? One of Batman’s flash-bangs? No. The device you see pictured above is an APD Mk4. It’s completely resistant to electromagnetic pulses, able to target and attack multiple targets simultaneously, and has the ability to remain unseen until its capabilities are needed. This device has a practically limitless shelf life and, powered by the human mind, can provide a stream of information without any other external energy source. So what is an APD Mk4? APD stands for Anti-Pimp Device. Mk 4 or Mark 4.
Click here to see it in its fully deployed mode. Okay, I kind of misled you. The APD Mk1 is just a book, a tool. But it is a tool that you can use to ward off the pimps and the pimpettes when they start saying the foolish things they say. It can help you cultivate the knowledge you need to avoid the traps (monetary and spiritual) set by the Word of Faith bozos.Give a listen to this. It’s Ken Copeland and clone number 2, Leroy Thompson talking about anointing. They use such pseudo-spiritual terms as:
- Anointing to prosper
- Financial Anointing
- Lack of anointing
- Building anointing
- To obey what Jesus says is anointing
These guys, and folks like them, make lots of greed-oriented statements about anointing. They offer you the anointing if you send them money, or…well…actually, they only offer the anointing if you send them money.
At this point, the thinking/discerning Christian should dismiss these snakes as the charlatans they are. Why? Well, let’s break out the APD Mk4, also known as the Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, by W. E. Vine. I made a PDF of the pages dealing with ANOINTING. Go ahead and either print them off or open the PDF in a window of its own.
Don’t run away, but I am about to take you through a word study. And the word we are going to study is anoint/anointing/anointed/etc.
One of the benefits of the Expository dictionary is that it allows the layman, like me, to see behind the English text and begin to get an idea of what the original Greek is saying. While it is in no way a substitute for training in New Testament Greek, a disciplined use of this tool and other fairly simple language tools really helps you to understand what is being said by the writers of the New Testament.
Let’s start.
The first thing we see is there are five Greek action words (verbs) translated as “anoint” in the New Testament. Those words are, spelled in English:
- ALEIPHO
- CHRIO
- ENCHRIO
- EPICHRIO
- MURIDZO
And the single noun is CHRISMA.
Please notice that I didn’t figure this out because I’m so smart. A guy (who gave a lot more attention to the Bible than I ever dreamed of worked this out. But I can now use this information to develop a good understanding of a word or concept. In this case the word is “anoint.”
You’ll notice the text provides a listing of where the specific Greek word is used.
ALEIPHO
Matt 6:17, Luke 7:38; Luke 7:46; John 11:2; John 12:3; Mark 6:13; James 5:14; Mark 16:1
CHRIO
Luke 4:18; Acts 4:27; 10:38; Hebrews 1:9; 2 Cor 1:21
ENCHRIO
Revelation 3:18
EPICHRIO
John 9:6, 11
MURIZO (or MURIDZO)
Mark 14:8
Then there is one word used as a noun:
CHRISMA
1 John 2:20;; 2:27
There are a whole host of places in the Old Testament where these words are used in the Greek translation of the Old Testament. However, for the sake of brevity and focus, I will not address those.
Part of the process of word study is purely mechanical. It involves gathering together ALL of the places the word is used. The above list does exactly that. Whether the word shows up as anoint or unction, or some other word in English, this list indicates where the words can be found.
And here is where the tedious part begins. For each reference, you have to:
- Look the reference up and read the reference
- Take in the section, or chapter to understand the context of how the word is being used
- Follow whatever other verses or references may be made in the text (Margin notes, etc.)
- Work through an understanding, based on all of the material you have covered, an understanding of how the word/concept is used.
Here is a PDF of a brief summary of the verses. You, as the one studying the word, should go into greater detail. However, since I am not trying to develop a comprehensive study, just enough to demonstrate the overall process, I’ve stopped fairly early in the process.
If you remember, Kenny and Leroy, when they referred to anointing went on about:
- Anointing to prosper
- Financial Anointing
- Lack of anointing
- Building anointing
- To obey what Jesus says is anointing
From what we have seen in the New Testament and the section looked at in the Old Testament, do you see any reference to an anointing to prosper? Othyer than the literal and physical act of putting something on an eye, or a head, or something, the only anointing addressed in the New Testament is that which applies to the Christ and the believer. It belongs to every believer.
As you look, have you been able to find a reference to a financial anointing? I don’t believe you will see anything like that.
Can a Christian have a lack of anointing? According to the research we have done so far, the Christian has been anointed by God, period.
Apparently, being anointed as a Christian is definite and absolute. Building anointing is like building being pregnant. You are either pregnant or you are not. There is no building of it.
Did you see anywhere in what we looked at a reference to being obedient to Jesus as the source of anointing?
Asking these questions based on just the brief study provides a graphic demonstration of the fact that these men are pimps, out to pull you in and separate you from your hard-earned income. Worse, they are men and women who are lying to you.
Just for practice, I suggest you buy, borrow or steal (okay, never mind the steal part) a copy of the Vine’s Expository Dictionary and get to it. By the way, Vine also developed a dictionary for Hebrew and Aramaic as well.
Good hunting.
Thank You Melvin!!! My defense contractor has been under funding me!!I have only been using a Strong”s, and I must admit I was not aware of such a weapon at my disposal. This will really help when dealing with the misapplication of words or phrases such as ” He became poor so that we can be made rich.” This definitely gives us the tactical advantage over the Kenneth Copeland Study Bible!
No problem. Think of the APD Mk4 as a tactical nuke. Over the next couple of weeks I hope to introduce some strategic weapons as well.

I’m new to commenting here, but I read your site from time to time. It’s enjoyable, to say the least. I live in St Louis, so I here about Joyce Meyer a lot. Even saw her at Starbucks once, but she never took off her sunglasses, made someone else order here coffee, and then ran back outside to her Mercedes. Go figure. BTW, have you ever heard of a rapper named Flame? He’s a friend of mine who came out of Word-Faith teaching. He also likes to talk about the Trinity. It’s good stuff.
Yeah Chuck, Flame is nice. The whole CMR camp is nice. I’m from Kansas City.
Pastor Leroy Thompson preached Camp Meeting while I was attending Rhema. I spent the entire time looking for an interpreter, since I was convinced he was speaking in tongues.
The man nee ta spit dem anointed marbles outta his pie-hole.
Better yet………..leave ‘em in. The fewer folks that can decipher his gibberish the better.
