Mel and IC, i think you both are hitting on something here. This would be an interesting topic of discussion, especially going into the holiday season. Why are people being looked upon as heretics for not celebrating Dec. 25th as Christ’s B-day? like you said Mel., no where in scripture does it commands or even elude to that we should observe the birth of Christ; rather we are to remember his death and resurrection. Whats ironic about this whole Christmas thing is that most of the world (including the “Church world”) finds this day to hold so much importance with the mentioning of Jesus and his birth and the three wise-men bringing him gifts. Yet a once we are finished with our eggnog and unwraping our presents, we can give two cents about what Christ said, what his life meant while he was here, his death and resurrection, or obeying his commands.

I have no problem saying that my prior statements regarding Christmas are not well rooted in scripture, especially given Colossians 2. However, Charles Stanley is a pimp spreading false doctrine, who still should be noted as such. And he's fallen outside of the qualifications for church leadership in 1 Timothy 3 because his wife is gone, so he does not prove to "manage his own household well". (For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?) Stanley needs to step down AS HE SAID HE WOULD DO. He has not been true to his own word!

It is crazy to think that people are staying home on the one day we should be in church. I am sad to hear that Dr, Stanley closed his church on Christmas, I really like him and I listen to him often. I will continue to listen to him and my prayers will go out for him and his ministry.

(MN: Given that Jesus wasn’t born on December 25, and the Bible nowhere tells us we are supposed to celebrate His birthday [afterall, everybody gets born, only one died for our sins and was raised again], I’m not reall clear on what the big deal is that one may choose not to spend the morning in church. How about if me and my family pray that morning, have a “Jesus Came Into the World” devotion of something.

Why should I HAVE to be with some folks in church on Christmas morning?

Fianlly, what makes a day one that we SHOULD be in church? Before the United States began celebrating Christmas as a holiday, should I have not gone to work? )

Hi Kyle,

The pimping thing started sometimes in the 80s and came in through the Word of Faith movement.

Though we already had denminations like the Assemblies of God and Foursquare Gospel Church, they were more traditional in their theology and were not really a problem.

The pimping came in subtle at first, then took on monstrously daring dimensions. The late “Archbishop” Benson Idahosa was one of the early pioneers in Nigeria (his denomination is the Church of God Mission). He was in with Oral Roberts and company. He was the ORIGINAL Nigerian pimp. One of my friends calls him the biggest thief of them all.

We also witnessed an influx of Kenneth Hagin’s materials into our country. Several of our top pastors have their roots in Rhema or with Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, K.C. Price, Morris Cerullo, T.D. Jakes, and yes - blasphemous Benny (who is still considered a superstar here). I fed on their materials too until the Lord pulled me out.

No; our pimping - at almost all levels - was imported in different varieties from the mega-pimps in the U.S. Then our boys took it to the next level and are outdoing quite a number of their mentors.

When did this start in your country? I know the Mega Pimps from the USA have been targeting Africa because of its vast population. What denominations are they? Lastly, was this a result of “missionaries” from the USA from questionable denominations like COGIC, Assemblies of God, some other hyper-pentacostal church, or is this home grown?

Is Micheal Freeman that preacher who has a ministry in Maryland on Oxoron Rd, if I’m saying the street correctly and his wife’s name is DeeDee who has her own ministry? If so, that man to me is a straight up pimp. On The Word Network in 2006, he told his congregation that he spent $100,000 on his wife during their shopping spree. All he talks about is money, paying tithes and other material things. Another Fred Price, so to speak.

Kyle, agreed!! Even in his bio he mentions God, but never mentions Christ (go figure). There is something different, but I can’t place my finger on it yet. I would like to see one of his shows to see what he talks about. To me it seems that he almost has the aura of an outsider looking in. Maybe that’s just the way he viewed it, maybe its just me, I am no prophet you know;) It will be an interesting read that’s for sure. Who knows, he may be able to provide some true godly instructon. Hope so.

LOBOLO?… I thought Creflo had come to the site and was typing in tongues! But alas, perhaps it was just one of his sheeple.

What gets me is the fact that all these pimps tell the sheeple what God is about to do. It’s always:

1. Don’t give up. Your blessing/breakthrough/harvest/miracle/anointing is just around the corner.

2. Just when you gave up God was about to do it.

3. All your apointed time you have to wait till your change come.

4. Keep planting your seed and the harvest is going to overtake you.

5. (Micheal Freeman, just today) “Why would God give you the power to get wealth if He didn’t want you to be wealthy?”

6. (Juanita Bynum) “The Holy Spirit told me in order to get something you’ve never had, you have to give something you never gave.”

Maybe this should have been in the list of sayings that help to keep the wolves fat?

(MN: More exactly, these are the things the Pimps say to keep the sheeple in line and giving. I think I smell a top ten list coming up!!! )

Are you guys kidding? Come over to Lagos, Nigeria, where we have as many as 5 churches on most streets - and 9 out of 10 are pimp-led!

Even Atlanta will have it tough beating that. Of course, our pimps have their roots in the Atlanta and Oklahoma pimp traditions.
