Okay, here’s the thing. Some of you in the audience say I’m not loving. And I should be loving because God is love. I shouldn’t be judgmental of these people who preach a false doctrine. I should love them and pray for them.
And since I consider myself to be a man who at least tries to obey the Bible, I have decided to emulate God and say the same things He says. Since God is love, and God is perfect, then He only says loving things. So if I say the same things that God says, then I’m loving too. Right?
Okay, let’s run with that for right now.
Here are some of the same things God says about false teachers:
· They are ravenous wolves (Matthew 7:15-16)
· They are practicers of lawlessness (Matthew 7:22-23)
· They are hypocrites ( Matt 15:7-9)
· They are thieves (John 10:1)
· They are slaves of their own appetites (Romans 16:18)
· They are men of flesh (1 Cor 3:1-4)
· They are peddlers of the word of Christ(2 Thessalonians 3:14)
· They are accursed (Galatians 1:6-8)
· They are tricksters and schemers (Ephesians 4:14)
· They are deluders (Ephesians 4:14)
· They are deceivers (Colossians 2:8)
· They are defrauders (Colossians 2:18-19)
· They are teachers of strange doctrine (1 Timothy 1:3)
· They are blasphemers, and have been handed over to Satan (1 Timothy 1:19-20)
· They are teachers of myth (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
· They are paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1-3)
· They are liars (1 Timothy 4:1-3)
· They are conceited and understand nothing (1 Timothy 6:3-4)
· They have gone astray (1 Timothy 6:20-21)
· They are evil men, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13)
· They are empty talkers, after sordid gain (Titus 1:10-11)
· They turn away from the truth (Titus 1:13-14)
· They are false prophets, false teachers, greedy exploiters (2 Peter 2:1-4)
· They are stains and blemishes, greedy, loving of wages of unrighteuosness (2 Peter 2:13-15)
· They are slaves of corruption (2 Peter 2:19-20)
· They are ungodly (Jude 4)
· They are rebellious people (Isaiah 30:9)
So I guess if I am going to emulate God, I should call the people who promote a different gospel wolfish, hypocritical practitioners of lawlessness who are enslaved to their own appetites, while being men of flesh and peddlers of the word, who by the way are accursed and deluding and deceiving, while teaching myths and paying attention to deceiving spirits, while at the same time being empty talkers and being greedy exploiters while being blemishes and stains, and being ungodly.
Hmmm. You know, I don’t really feel like typing this phrase every time I refer to the inhabitants of the pulpit. I’ll just keep calling them pimps and pipettes.
Maybe some people may think that “focusing” on one church seems like you are out to get that church only for whatever reason. You may talk and discuss other pastors, but, after looking at this site a couple of times, Most of your entries tend to talk about FBCG.
Now, I am in no way saying that you are wrong in doing this, because we are all responsible for the education of our brothers (sisters) in christ. (I would quote the verse, but my bible is at home) None the less, sometimes, it would seem that your definition of love, and the level that would be identified with by the people of FBCG may not be equal.
For example, there is a need for people to realize that FBCG is not a good church home for a growing Christian, and by performing a few and very legal network tricks, you can bring them to a website which gets their attention. However, sometimes it would seem that when you start calling the pastors Pimps and pimpettes, everyone takes your view as extreme. Why? The extreme harsh connotation of the word pimp etc. To them, you are someone who is bitter and has lost objectivity. Whether that is the case or not, it is still how they perceive it.
Now, I am not in anyway saying to loosen up the approach, or the reason, because people do need to know, however, a slight change in vocabulary can make differences.
I talk to my fiancee who is a Poli Sci Major all the time about this. Which is one thing she has a problem with sometimes. Being a poli sci major and not being concerned with what people think about her. Why? It’s her job to think about what people think about her, she went to school for 4 years to learn that. But I digress, I’m not saying to concern yourself about what people think about you, but what do the people at FBCG think about?
What is the easiest way to get their attention and keep it without blowing off your opinion as extremist/bitter/can’t be of God because its too offesive. True, some people will never change, and you should not stop what you are doing, but like a good shepard, shouldn’t you know what your sheep are like? Granted the members of FBCG aren’t your sheep, but how are you supposed to let them see that their sheppard is more of a enemy than friend if they constantly perceive you as a big bad wolf (seriously, you’re like what, 6′5″ 210lbs?… holey moley… that’s a big bad wolf
).
So yes, you need to get out there, yes you need to let people know, and yes, love isn’t always pleasant. (Trust me, I have the memories of the whipping stick to remind me of unpleasant love). But a very concerted and concentrated use of vocabulary should be used. Like I said before, Pimp has a very negative connotation in this day and age. Usually a person who is in charge of harlots etc.
When people see that you are calling their pastor that, what do they think? “He’s of the devil etc.” And any real oppurtunity of them listening is down the drain. Yes, some people will never listen, because they have turned their hearts from the light that is God, and only do things because its cool, but some aren’t sure, but when they see things like Pimp and Pimpettes, they probably consider that you are just a angry black male… well, angry christian male. Race has nothing to do with this.
Yes, the people who actively seek knowledge will persue this further too see exactly why you call their pastor this, and may even swallow their pride (which is VERY hard mind you) and read the bible and face the facts. But a lot of your target audience will not even read it, because it comes off extremely harsh. So, that’s all I have to say. Don’t worry about what people say about you, but you should probably think about what you say to others and how they will percieve the message, not you. That’s my two bits of info. –01010111
Addendum: Also, looking at you list of things that God calls the evil doers, not one place does he refer to people as those who are evil in sexual activity (which is like the ultimate evil in our society) They aren’t left out, but nonetheless, nothing about Harlots etc. Now, the definition you maybe using of PIMP may be different that the more accepted one. But remember, you have to know your audience in order for them to listen to you, no? Don’t drop to their level, but, allow communication to convey from pt. A -> pt. B and bring them to your level. a few WORDS of information (yes, that was a pun by the way…) –01010111
Compuwiz04,
Thanks for the comments and suggestions.
You’re quite corrrect in some of what you say. Pimp is a very harsh word. But what the pimps (and pimpettes) do is a very harsh thing.
I do however, have a small correction. The site is not here to convince the people of FBCG to get out. That’s not going to happen. As I said earlier, those who turn from the light are not going to turn back just because someone tries to argue with them, pleasantly or unpleaantly.
One of the primary purposes of the site is to warn others away from the churches and the men and women who lead the churches. As an example, I received an e=mail from a fellow who attends a church at which Jenkins was scheduled to speak. We discussed it and he said he would go to his pastor and bring these things up.
The primary purpose of the site falls in line with that: to call attention to those who are disobedient to the teachings of the Gospel. If I can do it humorously, I do. If I can do it with cold, hard facts I do.
Also, I was being relatively nice about the words God uses. The next article can cover the sexual comparisons, where God talks about us playing the harlot, about the religious leaders prostituting their positions or responsibilty and authority. I wasn’t going to cover those, but since you mentioned it, I will provide the allusions. Or I can just e-mail them to you. Your choice.
And remember, one of the reasons I cover FBCG so much (they are approximately 1/3 of the articles), is because I attended FBCG for a long time and I know several people who attend there. I even traine about sixty of the men (badly, I suppose) while I was there. Also, I know the pastor and am simply amazed as I watch him go from the relatively orthodox preacher he was ten years ago, to the near total word faith pi- er, I mean scam artist he is now. As one of the deacons I was talking to said: “He knows better than what he’s doing.”
pimps and pimpettes — that’s what i’d call some of them, they dress like a pimp with all those rings on their fingers up there preaching. i told my mom i bet if you melted all those gold rings the pastor (men) wear that it still will not equal a carat. but there is a lot of jacklegg preachers out there and i know no one is perfect but god, but how can a man of the cloth preach about something that isn’t right and doing it?
I like the “two bits of info” left by Compuwiz04. It is very intelligent and extremely wise. On my own website, my goal is similar to http://www.pulpit-pimps.org. I try to warn the people from being deceived and from being fleeced. By now, we have had over 50,000 visitors with at least half of those visitors spending time on the link called “Beware Christian” and the sublink called “TV Trouble.” Of that group, about 20 people have responded with complaints of “you must be jealous, you are a spoiler and a divider of the body, you are judging anointed men and women of God, you are not moving in love, etc. etc. etc.” This kind of comment must be expected from those who dread the idea that they have been deceived, and keepin it real, —-played out of their hard earned cash. So 20 out of aabout 25,000 is not even a drop in the bucket. My point is that if my target audience misses the issues because they have focused on the style of the presentation, then all of the time that I as the writer have put into my research to validate my comments has been wasted and lost. I believe that since we must work while it is day, for when our night comes we cannot work, WE MUST USE OUR TIME WISELY!!!. As an example, I wrote a peice on Joyce Meyer, which pointed out that it was evident to me that she had a face lift. My intent was not to deny her the face lift but to point out that God’s people should not have to pay for cosmetic surgery. I looked the peice over and thought, “Pam, that sounds a bit catty and people may miss the point”, so I removed . Then I came across an article that showed that Joyce’s facelift was only the tip of the iceburg. This article had researched facts concerning the lavish lifestyle that Joyce and her family enjoys that is paid for by tithes, donations and love offerings. I linked to that article primarily because it had “researched the facts.”
I neglected to mention our website. You can find the links called “Beware Christian” and “TV Trouble” at http://www.healingwaterscc.com
I guess my only disagreement, or variance I have is I would not have done an article on a face lift because it doesn’t directly relate to doctrinal issues. I try very hard not to deal in personal things.
If Joyce Meyers want to get a facelift, that’s her business. If Joyce Meyers drives around in a Roll Royce, that’s her business. If Joyce Meyers wants to wear mink underpants, that’s her business. However, if Joyce Meyers presents doctrine contrary to the truth of the Gospel, that’s my business and the business of anyone else determined to warn the Body against them.
Much of the excess you see with the pimps and pimpettes is a result of having a following that doesn’t have a clue or doesn’t pay attention to all that the pimp says. Thus, nine times out of ten, the followers are going to be more than willing to follow the teachings (seed faith, etc) that end up making the pimps rich. And the pimps want to be rich. The Bible even says they preach the heresies for their own profit, not to further the Gospel or edify the saints.
I don’t have a problem with a person being rich. But it seems to be very difficult for a faithful preacher of the word to become wildly wealthy, claims of God blessing the man of God not withstanding.
Remember, my focus is going to be on their teachings not the behavior that follows.
