I haven’t given much coverage to the Fairy Godmother of Word Faith, so here’s some information from Hickeyville.
I put myself on their mailing list and it’s like having a pipeline into her organization. It lets me see just how incredibly stupid they think you are. As I look at what they say I really don’t think I would have the ‘nads to make some of the claims or do some of the things they do. But then I remember that a lot of you want to believe the silliness and heresies she and her pimpette-in-training daughter deal in.
I got a mailing the other day that assured me that Marilyn and her prayer team are going to create a “PRAYER CHAIN of FINANCIAL FAITH” for me. That, of course, would explain why she sent me two cents. As you can see from the Personal Request Sheet (click here for a full size image of the form) her marketing people…er…I mean her prayer team glued two pennies to the picture of a hand. The purpose of the pennies is explained on page 3 of my letter. I’ll give you the details in a couple of minutes.

So anyway, I get this letter that goes on about the widow at the temple. I have to admit, the Fairy Godmother does a yeoman’s job of twisting the scripture. She somehow concludes that the way to break the curse of financial bondage (whatever that is) is to follow the lead of the old woman in Luke 21. If we do that, she says, we will have a financial breakthrough. She even explains to us that the word “poor” actually means “hard working, industrious”.
Try as I might, I can’t find that definition in any of the lexicons or dictionaries I used. All I saw in Strong’s Lexicon was:
PTOCHOS (a transliteration) 1 reduced to beggary, begging, asking alms. 2 destitute of wealth, influence, position, honor. 2A lowly, afflicted, destitute of the Christian virtues and eternal riches. 2B helpless, powerless to accomplish an end. 2C poor, needy. 3 lacking in anything.
And the word PENECHROS means poor.
Anybody want to show me where it says ‘hardworking’ in there? Basically, she lied to you. She read into the verse and made it say what she wanted it to say so she could hit you up for some money. And since you don’t read your Bible, you don’t know any better.
But then Hickey does something else I find absolutely amazing. She sets herself and her team apart from the rest of us poor swine. In the letter, on page three, she says…well, here, take a look at an image of the item.

She tells you straight up that you are a bunch of spiritual dunces who need her and her team to pray for you.
Is that what the Bible says? Does it say there is a financial anointing or that some people are more anointed than others? Definitely not!
And while this pimpette is busy trying to get you to focus on attaining riches to prove you have faith, the rest of the world has to live in reality.
Take a look at what happened in Bangladesh when a man became a Christian.

Or the Chinese woman who became a Christian and was beat to death when she passed out tracts at the market. Here is a picture of her and the result of the state’s handiwork

Instead of praying for my financial breakthrough, why doesn’t she use some of that powerful anointing to pray for the persecuted saints in countries where you could lose your life for believing? She probably thinks they don’t have enough faith to make their pocketbooks full of money, and keep their health supernaturally perfect.
Why not pray for the people who are doing the persecuting? Instead, she wastes your time by offering to pray for your financial breakthrough.
What swill.
By the way, you know who used her ‘End Times’ handbook as the source for teaching Revelation? I hate to say it, but it was (drum roll here please) John Jenkins from First Baptist Church of Glenarden. You may want to ask him about that. When I asked him about it, he said he would talk to me later, but never did.
AMEN BROTHER!! You know it is cool to receive financial blessings and all, but I am like you when it comes to the list of priorities. Financial gain is very low on the list, that’s for sure. If we attain financial wealth, it is to help those who are in need, Eph. 4:28. I have been very blessed financially, but not from sowing seeds to these type of people. It’s from helping my family, bro’s and sis’s, friends or whoever comes in my path. You are definitely right on track, as far as I am concerned. Good website!!
Yours in Christ,
JC
This is so sad, all i can say is may God have mercy on these people. Because these people are claiming that if we give them money they will “pray” that our lives to become easy, while there are men and women dying, leaving their wives/husbands, and children just to preach the gospel.
If our lives are suppose to be so easy then why were the desciples, stone to death, burned to death, crucified upside down………why was Jesus mistreated, and rejected?
These people are preaching false gospel and giving false hope, that messes with the mind of many young Christians. Many times i struggle with why things are so hard. I believe it’s because i expect living for Christ and rejecting the world’s standard to be “easy breezzy” living. Not considering that self sacrifice is required to live for God, not some prophetess pray for my life to be easy, while i’m still trying to hold on to my life.
Brother Melvin i know that you probably get cursed out every day and many people hate you but thanks so much for being avaliable to be hated for God sake. Because it’s not about “easy living” or acceptance of men. I know i would rather be rejected by the world and acceptedby CHrist.
And as i struggle in a very Liberal University to always do and say what God would want me to say, this site is such an encouragement, because here you are not caring about what people say or whether they hate you. You’re just doing what will make your heavenly father happy.
I strive for the exact same thing too, pleasing God not the acceptance of men. So continue to do what you do. I always pray for things to be easier but a pastor once said, “once you decide to live for God, expect attacks from the enemy. This article is so precious to me because it tells me that I will suffer, standing up for that which is right in God’s eye, and that life is not always going to be easy, but I know God sees all that i do for him. And that’s all i need to know to keep persevering in Christ.
Thanks once again, and i’m going to stop rambling on now.
Commenting on Hickey I have never gave a dime I have called into her and requested prayer and my situation turned around. It seems so funny that people talk down about a preacher getting money and cars but you love when a dope dealer gets money and stunts his cars and wll gladly give money to a root worker to fix someone.
To KeRo: Praise the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for your situation having turned around. It would have done so anyway because Psalm 145:9 tells us, “The Lord is good to ALL, and His tender mercies are over all His works.”
On the flip side of your post, I know firsthand of a relative who also called the Hickey “Ministries” but was “grilled” for a name, address w/zip code, phone #, and call letters of the station over which the caller viewed the program, etc. The info was needed, they said, “before we can pass this request on to our prayer counselors.” What do you think this was all about? I’ve experienced the same approach through a “bedfellow” of Benny Hinn—Sidikki is his last name—just as smooth and slick as Hinn. So slick, that when I ordered his book over the Internet with my credit card, and got the statement, the “ministry” had tacked on an “Internet Donation” of $15.00 to the order. Of course, I jumped right on it and had it removed. These “ministries” all have a game plan, and it’s not formulated for you or me to win anything! Now I give AS THE BIBLE INSTRUCTS, AND WHEN THE SPIRIT LEADS! My recommendation to you, draw near to God through Jesus, the Christ, and He will draw near to you. Don’t be discouraged by all the smoke screens—false profits, thieves, and liars—satan’s angels of light…
