Help me out here, people. I was looking through GospelToday (sic) and in addition to the ad by Profit Jordan, I ran across this ad. Notice the sponsor for this Bynum extravaganza - Southwest Airlines. Maybe I’m missing something, but why is a secular organization sponsoring a supposedly Christian engagement? Or perhaps a better question woudl be: Why would a religious outfit solicit sponsorship from a secular organization?
I could be misunderstanding the whole intent of Scripture, but doesn’t it say that we are not to be unequally yoked? Most of the time we take that to be talking about the saved marrying the unsaved. But there is also the demand from God that we separate ourselves from the ungodly.
A couple of examples that seem appropriate are Abraham and Ezra. Yes, I know. It’s Old Testament. But hang with me a few minutes and see if this makes sense.
Once Abraham had defeated the kings, he refused to take anything from the people he had worked with (Gen 14:22-24). His reason? He didn’t want anyone to be able to say that Abraham had prospered because of them. In other words, the credit for Abraham doing well was only to go to God, no one else.
When Ezra returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple, the non-Jews offered to help in completing the works. Ezra’s people made it clear they were to have no participation in the building.
And I won’t even mention Namaan and the prophet.
Having a secular sponsor does a couple or three things.
First, it decreases our dependence on God. If I can convince someone to help me financially, then it really doesn’t matter what God may want. I really don’t have to listen very closely. I got the money. And as we all know, money talks, everything else walks.
Second, with the money will come obligations. Few things of value in life come without strings attached. And usually, the more valuable the item, the stronger and shorter the strings. And if we’re working from two different world views, the opportunity for compromise increases exponentially.
But I guess the bottom line is this: Is the “Sisters In The Spirit” event supposed to be entertainment or “ministry? Is there going to be preaching? Or is it just sort of like a concert, kind of, sort of?
If it’s simply entertainment, why are we presenting it as if there is some spiritual element to it? If it is intended to be spiritual, then why are we using money from the unsaved to pay for it?
At this rate, with an increasing desire to get money from any source, I could see the search for sponsors going further and further afield. It might even look something like this:

Or maybe, if a church organization buys a building and later on they can’t quite swing the payments, they could do something like this:

i know this is very late, but my wife went to this concert, and she told me that Sheila E. actually got saved during the concert. She said she’s pretty sure that it was part of the show, though. I told her that she shouldn’t be so skeptical…
did anyone else happen to hear anything about this concert?
Wait, hold up, How can one of the Headliners get saved at the gospel concert? Your wife should be skeptical, she should know that she knows it was just apart of the show. Simply because if it were actually the case, how could they call it “Sisters in the Spirit”? They would have to add “plus a little unsaved drummer girl”.
Which leads me to wonder did Mariah Carey get saved or is it just an act.

My name is Marvan K.Palmer, I’m from NJ. I spoke at great length with Pastor Coleman last night and will be recieving his Bible study course. Keep up the good work in the name of the only Holy, Righteous, Hallowed God!!!!
Juanita is going through a lonely season in her life and God is pulling her from people that mean her no good there is a group of people that have compromised with the devil but God said that she is his choice servant and will not get sucked up in churchology! She is redeemed unto him and him only and you just watch what he does with her by the end of this year! She will be moving into a season of miraculous miracles… And just watch what he does to the person that created this site to tear down his hand and his fist!
Hey Pam………she’s a pimp and a heretic. Period. Please look up her money-grubbing antics here, and her false doctrine. Please………..save your threats about what GAWWWWWWWWD is gonna do. God is trying to wake Juanita from her spiritual darkness.
Man talk about your typical apostate church jibbah jabbah. What is all this nonsense about a season of this and a season of that? How about she teaches abominations to make money and calls herself a prophetess according to her own perverse mind and not according to any scripture. What about 2nd Timothy 2nd and 3rd chapters which clearly states that women are to be silent in the church and forbidden to teach? And since we have the scriptures what need do we have for a prophet? The only thing she will do by the end of this year is find a way to make money off of this mess.
In response to Pamela L., I will give you this: you said “…just watch what he does with her…” Now I will give you props on that! Look at what he did with her! I know everyone is giving her husband gried for hitting her, which I do not condone by any stretch of the imagination, but I still say that she got what was coming to her! She is a double-tongued prophe-lying feminist idiot who drove her husband to kick her behind! Yeah, look at her now, the “face” of domestic abuse! Why can’t she be the “face” of forgiveness, or restoration, or godliness? She is a liar and all who follow her are bumbling idiots who don’t know their Bibles from a hole in the ground. And by the way, I am a WOMAN and I say she got what was coming to her.
Juanita..number one lets talk about divine order, and women being HEAD over men…is that biblical. Why don’t we see that in the bible..why does GOD (through the bible) ALWAYS speak of males when he describes the desire of one to be a bishop/elder/church leader ..Titus 1, and oh look here 1 Tim. 2 “12. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13. For Adam was formed first, then Eve;”…Is this scripture encoded/hidden in your bible? Junanita is SOOO out of order.
Lonely season?? C’mon, so, God gives you a husband(although Tommy has previously had a wife, and kids, and was a little less than faithful to that call) to place you in a “lonely season”..I’ll tell you of the christians that are in a “lonely season”. those that are in countries that persecute them for Christ’s sake!!! Just for being a part of OUR family they are mutilated, tortured, kidnapped, and killed…Now that can be lonely! They wish they could openly meet with other members of the body to worship, to be uplifed. They can’t openly gather together, they risk their lives by mere mention of the name of Jesus.
Don’t worry about Juanita Bynum (oh yeah Weeks, you know her husband and step-kids last name) being lonely. Remember, she’s the woman livin large, with “both of her hands married”..(how STUPID). Pray earnestly for our brothers and sisters who are in the true battle, that are really being persecuted for bearing the fruit that we weak wanna be Christians in America would never dare bearing…And stop listening to DUMBNESS from people. PLEASE God has not given us a dumb spirit, pray that the Holy Spirit leads us (including Juanita) to ALL TRUTH.
Oh and pray that God would touch the heart of the leaders of our country that they would cry out against these atrocites. Muslims can come here and worship freely, yet the US and UN give food, aid, resources to these countries that are committing “crimes against christianity”. But, thats not too big of an issue right, let’s only let “crimes against humanity” surface on the news..LIBERAL MEDIA..uggh
Mrs Mav…………for one of my detractors, I’m getting to absolutely LOVE you!!!!!

(Gary) Just teasing MM……..you is my friend!!
(MM) i see myself more like iron to your iron lol…
(Gary) Yup……….you’re a “kinder, gentler” brand of iron. God’s still working on me…..;-)
(MM) and um.. what post are you referring to because i don’t see a post by me on this page (just curious)
(Gary) My bad……..I confused you with the post by ReformedMrs.
It was the Mrs that threw me as I skated through.
btw, to get to know me, is to love me
juanita bynum is a women of God whom God is using to bring the gospel to the nation. The bible says touch my annointed one. Who ever you are that has created this site to pull this women of God down may he have mercy on you. If there is nothing happening in you life get a life and stop trying to destroy someone else by speaking evil with your mouth what ever spirit is behind you as to be delivered because you need it.
(MN: As it explains in the “About Me” link, I am Melvin Jones, a Christian who has grown tired of watching the pimps and pimpettes take advantage of Bible-illiterate Jamokes like you. You would do well to actually read your Bible rather than listening to crooks and distorters like Ms. Bynum and others as they spew their foolishness on the Truly Bad Network (TBN). Remember, I’m not pulling her down. I’m giving you the information you need to pull yourself up.)
BTW–you have some off the hook terms here..what is your meaning of “churchology”…and “miraculous miracles”–that’s a little repeatitive, don’t cha think.
“Tear down his hand and his fist”..are you referring to God on this one? WE know that we can’t do anything AT ALL to stop God’s hand..Only WOF’ers and the such think that humans can thwart Gods plans. “His choice servant”–do you mean like prophet/apostle??–you do know that we have THE BIBLE to speak for God now?? Oh, and because I’m familiar with with happens when “prophecies fail” — do you mean that “miraculous miracles” are going to happen by the end of THIS year 2006?
I just don’t want to hear that (in a raspy-deep spiritual-intelligent voice)”we thought God was saying this year as in 2006, but we have to remember that God’s time is different from our time..God meant her year in ’spiritual seasons’. We gotta stop being so carnal when God speaks, and look at time through His eyes…get in the spirit to detect what God is really saying”…Man, I could make some money with all of the crap I’ve heard and learned…You should give me $20 for that word, cuz you know good and well that if these “miraculous miracles” don’t happen by DEC. 31, you will have a crappy answer such as I just gave you as to why not…Oh boy, I a Profitess now!! SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! (gotta love Jerry Mcguire)
(MN: You can preach at my church (Melvinites Church of the Fantastically Prosperous and Everything Happening) anytime . Just make sure your ministry sows into MCFPEH ministries before you get here to speak. That way I will push really hard when I take up a love offering for you. I’m sure we can get you more than $20 for a word like that! )
Reformedmrs,
I would love to hear about your experiences at PAW since you are one of the few black(I know that I am making a huge assumption here)people to have been in and left the oneness side. I say this because I am seeing more and more black churches allowing people like Noel Jones,Horace Smith,Charles Eliis, and TD in their pulpits. As a matter of fact the National Baptist convention has Bishop William Bonner as a special guest speaker no too long ago.I know that if anyone thinks us trinitarians are going to hell it would have to be him because he is an old schooler(I know because I have heard him preach).
(MN: Bonner!!! You have got to be kidding me. Bonner was there when I was a part of Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ [COOLJC]! Those bozoes actually invited him? Can I have a little more detail? I’d like to expand on it. )
Um Melvin I wish I was but like you I don’t make this stuff up.My question is believing as they do in COOLJC that us baptists are lost and doomed to hell why would the COOLJC’s chief apostle lend his credibility to us?I mean we believe in 3 gods right?Take a look Mr. Jones and see ofr yourself

that HAD to be the best comment in history!! lol good lookin out reformedmrs
No one……i said…… no one loved Bynum like i did. Her ministry brought me out of several pits (not that God could not have done it another way) but he used her “then” prophetic spirit to answer questions concerning my seemingly controversial life. I taped a sermon of hers when she was actually preaching the word of God and watched it over and over again b/c that word was relavent to my life at the time. I memorized most of what she said and sang almost just like her micking her moves and all (yes i know it’s fanitical) Suddenly, she b/g to change though………
They showed her the money you see. Paul and Jan and who knows where else. Then she must’ve taken it (the money that is) Then the sermons started going down hill from there…….. Balaam liked money too. The bible even called him mad for his desire for money.
It was rather hurtful to see her fall. She was somewhat of a “virtual” mentor for me at that time. Now the Holy Spirit is my guide indeed. I pray that she finds her way back……there is not much we can do other than that for her…..she has chosen her way and will pierce herself through with many sorrows if she doesn’t fear Yehovah and walk away while she is alive and breathing.
I find your accusation rather distasteful and harsh. The love of money is the root of all evil but simply having money is not. We must be careful about how we choose to put our mouths on the men and women of God. The Holy Spirit reveals all thing to us and I hope that this is one of those times for your sakes. Let he who has NO sin speak freely and I promise you will not be judged by God for your actions. Because every man will give account for every idle word he speaks. They spoke of Jesus in the same way or should I say with the same force, so should I be surprised? No. Of course not. Should we not speak of what is true? Only that which comes from the mouth of God is true, and every man is a liar. Be careful my sisters and brothers, the devil is seeking whom he may devour.
Mr. Israel. Can you please provide a scripture, and when you do can you please use the correct exegesis. The verse you are using here with “idle words” is Matthew 12:36-37 and has absolutely nothing to do what goes on here. It refers to eternal judgement (which John 5:24 opposes). So don’t come here with your fancy spiritual jargon, you may leave with your feeling hurt. This site is to warn the sheep of the wolves, which it seems like you may have fallen victim to. Read a few more post do some research on these “Great men of gaaawwwdd” then holla back. Sorry for the sarcasm but you are going to have to step it up and come with some biblical support. God bless.
Israel,
What in the world are you talking about? This is the same kind of garbage people said to Jesus. “How dare you speak to the High Priest this way!” It is almost as if the “men and women of God” are people above and beyond you or I.
I fail to understand how it is any different to speak to you fellow brother or sister this way. If you called some Christian a name, I do not think you would be saying the same thing. And yet, the scripture clearly indicates that God even cares for the smallest child more than anything else. Additionally, I find it very difficult to understand how we seem to have no qualms with talking about public figures like Hitler, Bush, Jesse Jackson, or other people we may not like with very harsh criticism. Why won’t God judge us for that just as much. He said he is NOT a respecter of persons.
I will be praying for you because it is clear that you do not have a true understanding of Jesus. He came and spoke against the people in power. These were the people, like those mentioned above, who are connected and sponsored by the system of this world. Not only did he speak against them, he spoke with great force (MAtt 23). He talked so bad about them that they had to kill him. Now were these idol words, I mean have you read Matt 23. Jesus calls them names. Unnecessary names at that, “vipers.” There is no need for this. And don’t say, well that was Jesus.
The “men and women of God” you’re supporting claim to have the same power he had by speaking blessings into your life. They tell you that if you give to them you will have a greater anointing.
I pray that you heard this. I want us to know the truth and not the lies of the enemy that cause us to worship the creation more than the creator.
Lynn I, Great testimony. But you know what? I totally understand what you have gone through with regard to Bynum….as I have had the same bout with other preachers. There was something that really has helped me in knowing (with regard to them and myself).
The question should be WHO has really changed? You or Them?
(1 John 2:20-21) (1 Cor 2:10-16) (2 Cor 1:21) (1 John 2:27)
Thanks Gridiron,
You know the word well. You are right none of us should have ever relied on man to minister to us in the capacity that Yehovah should have. You are also right when you say that I was chaning, I remember God giving me what I call a crash course(b/c everything was happening so fast) in life’s lessons and he shut outside sources off and caused me to look to Him at that time. You sound like you are filled with sound doctrine. Are you a member of a church or do you have your own ministry?
Grid has his own ministry.
He anoints Armour All and keeps Creflo’s tires shiny while the Rolls is at low speed LOL!!!!!!
Sorry bro……….I haven’t stopped laughing since you posted that!!!!!!
grid also likes to sing, and do stand-up in his spare time.
OOOHHH!!….Beryle, Gary V, Mrs. Mav!……I’m tellin’ Michael! Or is it Creflo!?! Or whoever he is….my bossman won’t like this none bit.
He hab nun-da-dis.
You guys are jus like jealous and stuff because you probably have witnessed him blowing his horn at me while I was doin’ his tries. He obviously is excited about the Armor All as evidenced by him honking at me while the car is in motion.
I think you guys have like, a jealous like spirit. This is my annointment in life.
And haters (sumbody critical of sumebodie else because the downntt like theemm) Don’t get mad at my blessingg.
I don’t have a jealous spirit Grid…………..I gots da “brain lust”, remember?? LOL !!!!!!!
LOL! That’s right!….”Brain Lust”…Ooh that was waaaay too funny……LOL!
hi grid, gary- what on God’s green earth is brain lust?
Some one made a comment to Gary to repent of his lust of the flesh the eyes…and went on to say something to the effect of him having “Brain Lust” and that he needed to repent of it. It is here somewhere…pretty funny.
brain lust, r m e yeah, ooook
thanx for the clarification.
btw, who’s your favorite nfl team? me, i’m not into football but i will watch the highlights
Mrs Mav…Grew up in the Bay Area, so I always love them SF 49ers….. as I became older I grabbed onto the Kansas City Chiefs as well……..you watch highlights?
Man….I watch the pre-game….the game….post game…..then highlights on ESPN like I didn’t even see the game…
Neither have I—but do have one “remedy” my fabulous Sunday School class uses for everything: Neosporin (for your fingers!!!!!)
But I love you too, Grid. B
Lynn,
No I do not have my own ministry. I am no different than yourself. Just an individual with questions, whom has had a “crash course” with regard to the “highs” and “lows” of ministry. Much happened extremely fast for me, when I first came to know the Lord……in which I witnessed “Elders” who were jealous of me because of what God was evidently doing in my life (physically and spiritually). I did not understand why anyone would be angry with me when I had done nothing to them…..but apparently they had other motives in the first place. I learned these things later. I am apart of a ministry whom is active though. We serve the people of God outside of the four walls. I am not on a church “roll” either as a member. I do attend services, but yet am asking and searching for what is real. Lately I have been studying the Word by myself (or with others I know in the Lord very well), asking many questions and just praying that God would reveal what is true unto me, and that I receive it no matter how much it contradicts the mainstream church. Though at a point I knew it did (I had no idea why), and though I was not encouraged to….I started to search myself….one reason I ended up here on this site as well.
One thing that I have learned with regard to people period in minsistry is in (Philippians 3:19). From the “Elders” to “Pastors”…..my eyes have been opened to their own agenda (whether the preachers/churches are “Mega” nor minute - there are uncanny similarities and many simply mock one another in an effort to attain “mega” status as well). But yet, I also must learn to pray for these people as my enemies as I was once taken advantage of, and when the Lord prompts me…..to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-16) because as a human being wrapped in sinful flesh I am not above these snares of temptation either.
Hope your venture and walk with Christ is fruitful and may you find your treasure.
Yes Grid, can I call you that? Is that pronounced with a short a or long a? you are right! there are ‘elders and teachers’ mickmicking and mocking one another and oftentimes
there only motive is mega status where money bottomlines everything. i believe that God’s word is already revealed for those who truly want to know the mysteries of His kingdom and it starts with fearing Him.
The bible says “The secret of Yehovah is with them that fear Him and THEY shall know His covenant” . Knowing His covenant starts with fearing Him.
Unfortunately, we live in apostate “Christian culture”who don’t know God’s covenant and it has not and will not be revealed to them if they don’t learn to fear and respect His Word.
We are not and never will be affiliated with another church again unless we are called to pastor one for that reason. Everyone seems to be able to point the finger at someone else and admitt that they aren’t doing it the right way but when the word is presented to them from our point of view which comes directly from the scripture it is dismissed as radical and wrong. We rarely share our beliefs with others b/c no one is ready to grow and learn. They are comfortable with the milk that is even still watered down and they don’t want to be bothered with any challenged thinking that doesn’t come from the pulpit. What’s worse is that b/c major ministries have sucked in and brainwashed masses upon masses of people and have virtually hypmotized them they are oftentimes trying to get us to follow their way of thinking or should i say lack of it.
When we dare open the bible and say the word says “thus and so” we get blank stares.
I will never go back to the wide road of the apostate church. God is saving a remnant and has called them unto Himself. I pray others find the truth that is revealed constantly in God’s Word. It never gets old. my prayer and belief is that God will show you what you are seaking for. lynn
Sure you can call me that. Grid is fine….you are correct. The way I see it…is almost like being back in elementary school. Remember show-and tell? Someone would bring something, the class is amazed and next week about 3 or 4 people mimicked that same thing…:lol
Sad but true.
We live in such a copycat culture, I don’t mean to switch gears, but I am a football nut and whatever works in the NFL from any angle of offense/defense/special teams becomes a pattern for a time until the next best thing comes…..preachers seemingly operate the same way with regard to their churches. Pressure mounts and people do what “needs” to be done to keep up with the Jones’.
This pattern of copy catting is also true for church choirs and gospel musicians. i am a musician and decided that when i do offer a brief visit to my family’s church that i would be sensitive to what the Spirit is telling me to do.
Ministering in song can be somewhat of a stumbling block as well as a blessing b/c people b/g to look at you to see if you are going to do something special. When God gives us a gift we “musicians” tend to get real puffed up and allow people to make us feel more special than we were to be. Others often maginify the gift than the giver of the gift.
I thank God that he allowed the “church” to be minimized in my life for that same purpose. It was all one big show.
I rarely buy gospel music although I enjoy it more than I can express. Now- a- days they are not so original and are complicating lirics and melodic runs just to get the crowd going and to get them into extreme emotionalism…….so they can also get paid. I believe that God has all but left most gospel musicians ministry if he has not infact left altogether.
They may as well just sing something else…….why sing for Yehovah when one is truly infact not really singing to or about Him?
That’s just my opinion though. He does say let everything that has breath praise Him.
Concerning music you are correct. I am not a musician, but yet LOVE music. So when I started living for the Lord, I of course reverted to gospel music, but soon noticed much of it is designed to “pumped you up”.
Not too different to some music I used to listen to beforehand. At this point I am going through a state to determine what NOT to listen to. Just too entertaining. I really try not to be overly critical….but goodness I do not believe most of this music is truly set apart. Don’t get me wrong, the music is good….but I do not believe it glorifies God….especially if EVERYONE likes it. Like one artist, Donnie McClurkin. I enjoy his singing ability, but yet when I see him singing on a TBN telethon with that number on the screen (he is well aware of what he is doing, and the pay must be pretty good as well)…I start to look at this guy cross-eyed……I expect it from some…but others tend to surprise me…….I really start to evaulate the state of “Gospel” music and what is truly beneficial for me to listen to. Yolanda Adams singing “I believe I can fly” with Gerald Levert…..there has to be a difference with the sound of Gospel music. It must be a completely unique sound. I don’t believe that we have that with the artists we promote. Churches pay musicians to come and be apart of their services, no matter what lifestyle these people are living. Some I know of collaborate with rappers, and make beats, etc………
I actually saw Bynum on TBN about 2 nights ago. She had some guest on there who was singing and when they sat down I guess Bynum had to show off her voice so (as they were seated) they proceeded to trade lines of the song this lady had just sang, sending evryone into a frenzy. I watched for only about 3-5 minutes but what I saw from them was “entertainment” and they kept draggin’ that song thing along. I notice as well that this lady (as she was singing) kept talking about how the Lord brought her out…..and that she didn’t have a dollar to her name. That appears to be the battle cry from these folks…..’I didn’t have a dollar……” Now look at me……I have heard Yolanda Adams singing this type of “testimony” on TBN as well.
RE: Gospel Music—First, what truly is “gospel music”? Does it honestly relay (God forbid, reflect) the Gospel as defined throughout the New Testament? Is it the same gospel that Jesus commanded the disciples to go into all the world and deliver? There seem to be few songs that can be truly categorized as “Gospel.” One composition we all are probably familiar with is Handel’s Messiah (from which comes the Hallelujah Chorus). Handel’s Messiah is taken almost verbatim from the Scriptures, Old and New Testaments. Another gem is The Peaceable Kingdom—directly from the Scriptures.
Works like these have been—by design—hidden from the Body of Christ and substituted with many manmade, feel good “gospel” songs and singers that can “blow.” Herein lays another of satan’s deceptive tactics in turning those who would return (and SHOULD return) away from the One, True, Living object of our worship, the Lord Jesus Christ, to the “worshipper.” Precious few other compositions are sung that even come close to Scriptural definition of the Gospel. Some of these are: Total Praise, Come Celebrate Jesus, He Is, The Lord is My Light, 150th Psalm (Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir), as well as many old and standard hymns familiar to our parents and grandparents.
This is not to say that music other than that relaying the Scriptures is not good; music and its foundation (all 8 major notes ï?Š) was created by God. But if the accompanying lyrics don’t say what HE said, that genre should be given a name other than “gospel.” Likewise, if the words cannot be heard nor understood due to an overwhelming, flesh-inciting “beat,” then it definitely is NOT Gospel! BTW, this applies to “Black” gospel (traditional), “Hip-Hop” gospel, “Contemporary” gospel, “Southern” and “Country” gospel, “Blue Grass” gospel, “Old Time” gospel, ad infinitum. If anyone out there has some definitive answers, please advise.
PREACH it Beryle!!!!! Handel’s works are just incredible. He was a Godly man who was solely interested in Proclaiming Christ, and his music reflects that.
If I’m going to listen to “Gospel” music, I WANT TO HEAR THE GOSPEL!!!!!
Not all this syruppy pablum about being in love with Jesus………….where if I substitute my wife’s name wherever the song says “Jesus”, it would sound like a Top 40 love tune I could use to ease her into bed.
Bilge……………give me the great hymns of the past by men who KNEW their Word and their God.
The trend in Contemporary Christian radio is to create music and lyrics that appeal to the flesh. It honestly CREEPS ME OUT to hear the moaning, semi-orgasmic way they address the Almighty, like he’s some teenage girl they’re trying to get into the backseat of their car.
I fully expect someone to rewrite the lyrics to Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” simply by replacing the words “Sexual” with “Spiritual”, and “Baby” with “Jesus”,and putting the record out on “Christian” radio with the rest of the lyrics intact.
“Spiritual Healing”
Ooh, now let’s get down tonight
JEEEEEEEESUS, I’m hot just like an oven
I need some lovin’
And SPIRIIIIIIIT, I can’t hold it much longer
It’s getting stronger and stronger
And when I get that feeling
I want Spititual Healing
Spiritual Healing, oh Jesus
Makes me feel so fine
Helps to relieve my mind
Spiritual Healing, Jesus, is good for me
Spiritual Healing is something that’s good for me
Whenever blue tear drops are falling
And my emotional stability is leaving me
There is something I can do
I can get down on my knees and call You up Jesus, and
Lord, I know you’ll be there to relieve me
The love You give to me will free me
If You don’t know the things You’re dealing
I can tell you, Jesus, that it’s Spiritual Healing
Get up, Get up, Get up, Get up, show You’re love tonight
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up, Wake up, ‘cos You do it right
JEEEEEEEEESUS, I got sick this morning
A sea was storming inside of me
Jesus, I think I’m capsizing
The waves are rising and rising
And when I get that feeling
I want Spiritual Healing
Spiritual Healing is good for me
Makes me feel so fine, it’s such a rush
Helps to relieve the mind, and it’s good for us
Spiritual Healing, Jesus, is good for me
Spiritual Healing is something that’s good for me
And it’s good for me and it’s good to me
My Jesus… ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
Come take control, just grab a hold
Of my body and mind soon we’ll be making it
Jesus, oh we’re feeling fine
You’re my medicine open up and let me in
Jesus, you’re so great
I can’t wait for You to operate
I can’t wait for You to operate
When I get this feeling, I need Spiritual Healing
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESUUUUUUUUSS”
Now tell me………….HOW does that song differ from most of the garbage jokingly referred to as “Gospel” or “Praise” music today?? Mostly all I did was insert “Jesus” wherever “Baby” or “Darling” or whatever was used.
And I GUARANTEE you, it would top the CCM charts. Pitiful……..
uh oh, youve started something now, some gospel singer is gonna go to this site and see spiritual healing, and think to themselves “why didnt i think of that, marvin was my idol”
look for it to be in stores next year, gary
(MN: Roylties! We’re talking royalties here! )
Brother GaryV,: You said, “If I’m going to listen to “Gospel” music, I WANT TO HEAR THE GOSPEL!!!!!,” and “Bilge……………give me the great hymns of the past by men who KNEW their Word and their God.” HALLELUJAH! and AMEN !
MN, MT, LYNN, and all those who’ve expressed love for the pure, unadulterated Word of God: I can’t tell you what has happened to me since I’ve be involved with you on this web site (07/2006) and since I began reading through the Bible with my marvelous Sunday School class (01/2006). The Lord God’s ways are definitely above ours. If I told you where HE brought me from you would be SHOCKED! (Yes, I once was a music major—voice—at OSU in Columbus, OH & later Juilliard in NYC.) But Momma told us children more than once, “Some things you go to your grave with, even after you get saved,” and Momma was right! ï?Š
There is an organization named Integrity Music, out of Mobile, Aabama (www.integritymusic.com) that has been mailing out praise and worship recordings for over 20 yrs. I “innocently” began subscribing to them in the mid 80s when cassette recordings were only $7.95 each and the music was 95% pure Gospel. They arrive by mail every OTHER month by different artists, and about 45% of them are pure Gospel (the others I give away). So you see, there appears to be a “falling away” by a once strong industry that espoused the Word of God.
The artists vary in style but some I consider “gems” and classics (they may not be available anymore). These were: The Imperials (w/Russ Taft), Dallas Holmes, Carman, Phil Driscoll, Chuck Girard, Sandi Patti, and Larnelle Harris, to name a few. Babbi Mason is still worth listening to if you can find her recordings. You may want to peruse the web site and see if they carry titles or artists that interest you.
I’m praying for others who were gifted with the ability to praise the Lord in Spirit and Truth, via song and dance, with musical instruments, etc.—they have gone whoring after money and fame. If you know of any music that will bless my soul, please advise. I LOVE YOU GUYS AND GALS!!! Beryle
David wrote about joyful noises, rejoicing or singing of praise unto the lord,
Question, what God are these so called gospel musicians are worshiping and singing to? maybe it’s not so much about the beat or the similarity to secular music,
if it’s not the God of the bible then flee, if it is then rejoice and praise him with a loud noise.
I don’t believe it is that simple.
Who the artist aligns themselves with, where they perform…..how they live (because they are a public personality) matters allthemore than what they sing. Please correct me if I am wrong…but I do not believe I am. That is the contrast I attempted to make.
So if an artist sings to raise money during a TBN telethon….and has songs that glorify God in words, and even Psalms that are sung on the album….but yet collaborates with Yolanda Adams…..even ventures on tour with her and Kirk Franklin….how should I view that?
Or an artist that is probably one of the hottest (if not the hottest) “Gospel” artist right now…..but yet I have seen him perform at New Birth MBC…..
….or a “Gospel” artist that uses Michael Jackson beats on a track….or multiples who have and continue to collaborate with Mary J. Blige, and kelly Price. Help me out here!?!
….Or a Mega-Church that has P-Diddy on the big screen via sattelite on TBN, while Tiny Lister (Deebo) or Steve Wonder “grace” the pulpit. Huh??
…I bear to ask….what is the criteria? I am in belief that the standard we currently witness is not it.
re: comment about juanita bynum, its kind of surprising about her, well used to be surprising, until she started praising the pope and singing with kelly “as we lay” price, but yolanda adams, nothing she does should shock anyone, shell do anything to make a dollar. if you notice, she no longer sings about God, well she might toss him in there once in a while, but it shouldnt be a shock what she does, because she sings tributes to people who openly mocked Jesus and said there wasnt a heaven (the beatles with john lennon) making comments theyll be more famous than jesus, they were also devil worshippers, but that didnt stop her, then singing with kanye west, another antichrist, and saying singing with im took her coolness to another level. then singing with eddie (g-spot) levert) now,we all knowwhat a g spot is, and i dont recall God saying anything about gspots in the bible, except flee fornication, i think he meant flee g spots if your not married. her songs are also supposedly inspirational now, not gospel, and she also said for years they have been trying to bridge the gap between gospel and non gospel because many of the people on her tour besides mr. g spot, came from the church. and i could go on about her, but ill stop now.
beryle you sound like you must have studied music history or something and theory. handel fasted for weeks on end before he composed “the messiah”. his style of music is glorious and timeless and will never ever go out of style.
he wasn’t trying to impress anybody as far as i know.
God still gets the glory many centurys later.
it’s also interesting to me that last year when i was in major need of a lift i went to purchase his cd and not my other favorites like y adams and her cricle. i didn’t even look their way.
now about them people Y adams, and bynum. i have personally heard adams condemn cross over gospel musicians saying things like ‘they are not delivering a sound message b/c they leave out the name of Jesus , they don’t deliver the proper message of the gospel, they leave people hanging’. but things have changed for her since then. if she desires to keep her financial status with the folk who pay her then she must do what they say do. even if it means being unequally yoked with the heathen.
she must long for those simple days when all she had to do was sing in churches. now she does a whole lot more. i don’t have television anymore b/c we decided to free ourselves from it. i am so glad and grateful at least for now i do not have to wittness this abomination of those who “proclaim the gospel” smear it around and fellowship with the darkness as such. i last saw her on the internet singing with chaka chun and gladys knight to folk like janet jackson(who has mysteriously been elevated to higher heights in babylon since she lost her bra) and ophrah winfrey. folks this is no accident. i thank God everyday that he would not allow me to tap into that worldy scene of being a “gospel” musician.
i would often seek to network myself with people like her since we were in the same city and circle of friends as well. now i know why God saved me alive and kept me on the narrow undesired (to the world)road for so long. these are very wide roads these people are walking and if they would just say no to the money and go back home and work with their own hand and stop sticking people up for the sake of the ‘gospel’ then we would all have some respect for them. the bible does not change for them even though they truly believe they are of worldly royalety.
the”gospel” music industry like so many other industries are all directed under the anti-christ beast system now. and thanks for clarifying that they really should not be calling it ‘gospel’ unless it truly does proclaim the good news of Christ.
The Father has given the african-american a unique style of praising Him. when he brought us out of “egypt” or old day slavery he glorified Himself through our music i believe. now that many are actualy enjoying the fruit of prosperity they done exactly what the children of Isreal done. JOINED THEMSELVES WITH IDOLS. they don’t want us to correct them so they say we are ‘ministering to the lost’….while the lost that THEY are following are not following them they are following they lost.
many of these guys including bynum i really believe started out with good intentions but they did not know what they were getting themselves into and now it is too lucrative for them to get out. i’m glad i don’t have that problem b/c money will never buy salvation. i truly pray that they are not the ones saying Lord Lord I……
I DO AGREE MOST IF NOT ALL OF THEM STARTED OUT RIGHT WITH GOD. THE FEW WHO DIDNT YOU CAN USUALLY TELL BECAUSE THEY DONT EVEN TRY TO TRICK YOU, THEY ARE AT LEAST HONEST ENOUGH TO LET YOU KNOW THEY WANT YOUR MONEY, LIKE MR. IKE (I CALL NO MAN REVEREND) AND ALL THE PROOF IS IN THE BIBLE THAT GOD SAID THEY WOULD DO THIS, PIERCE THEMSELVES THROUGH WITH MANY SORROWS BECAUSE OF MONEY, (DONT KNOW THE SCRIPTURE WORD FOR WORD, SO IM NOT GOING TO QUOTE IT). BUT ITS TO THE POINT NOW, WHERE I PERSONALLY BELIEVE ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A FAMOUS PREACHER OR GOSPEL SINGER AND CONTINUE TO WALK WITH GOD. BEING IN THAT POSITION YOU GOTTA BE ON YOUR KNEES CONSTANTLY, KEEPING YOUR EYES ON JESUS EVERY SECOND, NOT MAKING A MOVE WITHOUT HIM. BECAUSE THEY ARE GONNA BE SPIRITUALLY ATTACKED MORE SO THEY WILL DO JUST WHAT THEYRE DOING. I DONT LISTEN TO KIRK FRANKLIN ANYMORE, BUT HE DID SAY ONE THING THAT WAS TRUE (ALTHOUGH HES DOING IT HIMSELF) AND THAT IS NOT MAKING MINISTRY YOUR GOD. WHILE IM AT IT, I WANT TO CHANGE SOME OF WHAT I JUST SAID, I FEEL ITS IMPOSSIBLE NOT ALMOST, TO KEEP WALKING WITH GOD AND BE IN THOSE POSITIONS BECAUSE NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT, YOU HAVE TO COMPROMISE, LIKE YOU SAID ABOUT THE GOSPEL MUSIC INDUSTRY. THEY START TELLING YOU NOT TO SAY JESUS, AND WHAT ELSE TO DO, AND YOLANDA FELL FOR IT, I DONT LISTEN TO ANYTHING SHE SINGS EXCEPT THE BATTLE IS THE LORDS AND IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL. EVEN RIZEN WHO WERENT SINGING A WHOLE YEAR AS FAR AS I KNOW HAVE FELL INTO THE TRAP,THEY CAME OUT SINCERE, JUANITA BROUGHT THEM ON TBN, NEXT THING I KNOW THEY ARE WEARING TIGHT CLOTHES AND TELLING US THEYRE GONNA BREAK IT DOWN FOR US TINA TURNER STYLE. AND THAT DIDNT TAKE A YEAR FOR THEM TO START COMPROMISING.
those women of rizen never ever gave me the impression that they really wanted true ministry anyway. there singing was not pleasing to the ear just competitive yelling and yoodalling. i never really saw them from the very beginning but it should take a whole lot longer than twelve months to change your mind to comprimise if one is truly sincere. it is very true in my opinion that one can change the lyrics to a famous secular song and then make it big. believe me i have suffered with that temptation myself a time or two. with songs like evergreen by barbara striesand ,i will always love you by dolly pardon and whitney houston and so forth. that line of business is very ambiguous and can easily go both ways these days. the temptation is even greater for them b/c they are in the big light and have the ability to influence so many others for good or bad.
aren’t you glad you don’t have their problems. believe me it is almost as strong as any other stronghold.
if it weren’t for cross over songs though, bebe and cece probably would not have been introduced as they were and made it so big.
it is interesting though that there brothers the winnans started out strictly gospel and revolutionized the genre of that ministry in that era. all bebe and cece had to do was go along side there brothers and work with them God would have made a way for them to expand and spread the gospel without crossing over.
but for some reason they didn’t do this,,,,was this accidental or a pursposed plan by the new world order to use the sincere but unlearned and unskilled in the word people to catapult ideas that were organized for a specific purpose. when the winnans finally started to try to cross over their ministry it seem to just flop downward. i purchased a cd with all of their archives recorded in sequence of the song produced and it is obvious,
…..the songs recorded with holiness and fear cannot even be compared to the cross over lyric songs that can interchange Yehovah with something or someone else. it is a sad commentary to wittness this fact.
money and fame will never buy the glory of God on ones life. (MN: Yeah. But it can sure buy a nice airplane. )
in all fairness folks, it will take a pretty skillfull person to be able to miss all of the snares that the rising beast system has in store for us all. the bible says that if it were possible even the very elect could be decieved. all of us work somewhere, likely for a company that is co-joined with the new world order. and we all go to work to pay our bills just like these famous musicians.
it would be better though if they would just call it ‘a job’ i heard tata vega say that before. it is a job for most rather than a ministry. it is a very lucrative job.
God has made it pretty clear for me that we musicians should not be so fast to collect on our gift of the word in music form unless it is given as well. He says freely you have recieved so freely give. paul did not charge for the ministry but earned money else where like a normal citizen.
if they truly want to minister to the lost, they should assume that some of the lost people don’t have money to pay twenty dollars for a cd and they should not threaten to penalized everyone who is caught “boot legging” a copy of the “word”.
in the book of acts those who had wealth distributed it their among the poor and everyone had things in common ……..no one lacking nothing.
but anyway……truthfully we are all in the same boat in some way. we are all connected in some way or another. these same people who have been “ministering” in song and we for the most part until recently have been enjoying, will all meet a new age era way of life where no one will be permitted to sing dance or mix anything in puclic(forbidden in private as well). if these countries make good on their promises or terrorism and really do plan to wipe out this country
very soon, this blog won’t be here and quite possibly more than that.
does anybody know what they are going to do?
can anyone profess any takes on what the scripture has to say about the remnant that is left for tribulation or is this blog the wrong place for that.
(MN :
m,
You made a ton of unsubstantiayted statements. Until you can provide some verification on them, I’m afraid I can’t publish them.
Sorry)
thats ok, what did i do?
(MN: It’s not a big deal. I just try not to publish stuff unless I have some documentation for it. Specifically, you made a statement that involved P Diddy and a Gospel singer. I need to see the evidence before it appears here. If it should turn out to be rumor, there is no way I can get it back. . I need some documentation for it - a site [preferably their own, stuff like that]. And of course that means you have to go digging for it, or at least cite your source. )
oh, i understand, i can only say i saw it on their cd cover when i was at the library, but next time ill try and make sure i have the proof about what i say and if i can find it on here about them, the people i mentioned, i will.
sorry about that
well, i did find a lot of proof, but it was too much proof so i settled for wikipedia (mario winans and who he collaborates with)
(MN: Not a problem. Really. The one thing to remember about Wikipedia is that the articles are done on a volunteer basis. Here is what Wikipedia says about itself.
It apparently ranks pretty high in the natural sciences though. )
oh, didnt know that either, thanks for the info about wikipedia
very interesting comments concerning christianity
and church order ,man have gone on about establishing there own rightousness..
millions of women are rejecting Gods devine order..
also giving offerings under the new covenant..
the apostle paul instructed timothy to speak sound doctrine..there are so many different doctrines being taught, acording to to scripture theres only one lord, one faith, and one baptism..
tithing is of the old covenant..
women are not to be ordained as bishop/elder/pastor
prophecy is direct from god …
preaching /teaching is when a man opens the writen word of God..
I saw a post about Christian music and sinse I am passionate about such a subject, I had to join the convo. I think there are some serious issues when it comes to “gospel music” (little g). There are very few doctrinally sound artists. The problem is this: you have someone who was raised in church who has a beautiful voice so they decide to do a Gospel Album. The only problem is you must know what the Gospel is.
I call Mary Mary’s song “Heavan” the Jehovahs Witness Anthem. They sing an entire song about heaven and never say they want to see Jesus. But to make matters worse they say “I am trying my best to get there, cause I got some place to go”. Does those lyrics make your heart drop? Eph 2:8-9 informs us that is by Grace through a vehicle called faith that we are saved. People loved that song and my skin crawled everytime I heard it.
I love Kirk but that brother has been flirting with the artist who are not just secular artist (I don’t like secular much) but are down right anti-christian such as: R.Kelly (enough said), Jill Scott (who does not believe that Christ is the only way) and Musiq (who knows what that brother believes). I hate to sound crazy but I listen to people like Chris Tomlin, Shane and Shane, Todd Agnew, Kutlass and David Crowder. Fred Hammond and Israel (as long as you can move your finger quick enough to get through the Health, Wealth, and Prosperity foolishness). The other people are Christian Hip Hop Artist such as :Cross Movement Camp (I am getting skeptical about Da Truth), Reach Records (Lecrae, Tedashi and others) and Lampmode (Shai Linne is unbelievable, Stephen the Levite). You will not get a song that is not glorifying the Lord, Preaching Righteousness, or Spitting the Gospel (and men’s need of a Savior).
It is a shame when the number one Black Christian Song was a major and blatant misuse of God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis. Donald Lawerence takes this “promise” and somehow says it refers to Land, Cars, and Health. This was the number one song “The blessings of Abraham”. I hate even watching those awards (and I didn’t this year).
On Bishop Bonner:
Just because he accepted a invitation to the national baptist conventin doesn’t mean he agrees! Jesus spoke to the Jews and scribes and didn’t agree with them! He went to give them the gospel..them that would HEAR!! Him going there proves nothing! Him joining them, then let me know.
I didn’t know that Jesus allowed the (unbelieving) Jews and scribes to setup the venues that he addressed them from. I didn’t know he did it in a fashion as if he was teaching along side of them. Can you please give us the scripture that notes this?
You learn something new here everyday
.
William Bonner(who is not a believer or bishop) leads people to hell with his false oneness doctrine. The NBC professes a faith in the Christ of the bible whereas Bonner has a modalist christ who needed to have water an babbling as a means of salvation.COOLJC is not a true church and leads to destruction like UPCI,PAW,TCOGIC,APCOG,and any other modalist church.
YOU ARE GOING TO HELL
Mike former
Mike former Your oneness doctrine false
and you are going to hell.
do not talk about Chief Apostles W, L, Bonner or COOLJC FAMILY The Pentcostal / Charismatic Genealogy Tree
Jimmy, do your lips ever get cramped when pressed so firmly against the buttocks of mere men??
Chief Apostle………give me a break.
Give me a biblical reason to back up this dribble. I call it as the bible says I should see it.See Galatians 1:6-9 for biblical proof texts on my position and see John 17 for proof that modalism is heresy just like arianism which denies the deity of Christ.
While you are at explain how this guy is an apostle let alone a chief apostle when that office has specific qualifications that have to be met which include actually seeing Christ after his resurrection.
One more thing, if I go to hell it will be because I am a lost sinner who rejected Christ not because I called out a heretical doctrine and false apostle.
