This site is here to warn the sheeple about the wolves and pimps that are out there waiting to take their money and feed them spiritual poison. I have reported on many of them, giving your their names and making sure you know what they look like. Although from the looks of it, the sheeple seem to revel at wallowing in the spiritual muck.
The site still gets comments from some of the sheeple warning us not to speak ill of the pimps because they are God’s anointed, or because these bozos are apparently men of God who are just doing what God wants them to do.
A reader called my attention to a YouTube video of Leroy “Linguisitcally Challenged” Thompson and his antics. And as a reward, we even get to watch Cashflow Dollar as he conspires with Leroy in leading an entire flock astray.
Did you notice the money thrown on the steps? Care to bet whether or not they use a lame comparison to stuff being laid at the feet of the Apostle?
And please notice, the church is not some ramshackled storefront. It appears to be a building of some substance. Yet these people are foolish enough to give this man and his fellow pimp, a boat load of money.
You have to wonder if Leroy and Cashflow are punishment to the Body for being willing to give attention to things that are contrary to the Word.
By the way, how many people do you think will write in to defend these two pimps?
Off topic…I think memorization of Scripture is important for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is that it helps us guard against fallacious usages of Scripture. Paul warned the elders in Ephesus, before he departed, that men would rise from amongst their own flocks and seek to gather followers to themselves.
Memorization of Scripture (in relationship to Biblical meditation on Scripture) helps us to stay away from such people who would seek to lead us astray from truth WHILE HAVING THE AUDACITY TO USE THE BIBLE WHILE DOING IT. We are to grow up in every way, so that we may no longer be children tossed to and fro by the waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine.
Oh, wait…maybe that was not off topic. My bad.
Hello, Christopher:
Some good stuff there, for sure. Developing a habit to just read your Bible daily also dovetails into your comments, I think.
This link (and site) will interest you: Bible Readings for the Year (new window). I have been using Dr. McMahon’s template for about four years now. (He also encouraged me to read the Puritan authors.) This book-I found it for you: its free-will show you exactly where you are with your walk with the Master. Taken Heaven by Storm (new window).
‘Til sin be bitter, Christ will not be sweet. - by the man who wrote Taking Heaven by Storm.
Peter.
/be bold. speak.
(MN: I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you are right. Until sin is unattractive, Chrisitianity is simply a set of rules for self-improvement. And if I don’t want to be self-improved, I don’t want Christianity. )
Don’t talk to me about Heaven Taken by Storm! I “borrowed” that book from a friend of mine back in seminary…oh…four years ago. I takes that much time to chew through the whole thing. Thomas Watson was a GIANT a far a theology and practice.
In my humble opinion, the Puritans are entirely too distant from most churches and individuals…or should I say that backwards? I do not mean to sound as though Puritans were Apostles or Prophets in any sense, but there men EXCELLED where we have grown limp, weak and pathetic.
Other than that I have no opinion.
Forgot to add…have you read his Word Pictures?
Hello, Christopher:
Do you mean this book by Jack Hughes? (new window) Yes, and it’s a keeper!
Here is something that Pastor Spurgeon put together on our hero, Thomas Watson: Brief Memoir of Thomas Watson. Enjoy.
@ The Munificent One, Melvin the Magnificent:
Rather than belabor the meta with things relating to the Puritans, please give Christopher my email address, so I can regale him with my gleanings from those hep cats from the 17th century. Can you dig it?)
Thank you, Mel!
Love,
Peter.
(MN: I sent him your e-mail address. But please continue to regale us with your gleanings from the hep cats from the 17th century. )
I believe much of this “Prosperity Pimpin” is a result of falling away from the Word. In Hosea chapter 1 it talks about this. When there is foolishness like this in the pulpit we know that somewhere, somehow, we have put an idol before our One True living God, and we must repent and turn back to see these consequences away.
I am still upset Melvin. When you get a chance, look at the one he did about the $16,000 dog, it is even worse. He was boasting about cars, money and a $16,000.00 dog that he bought. Like I said, if that don’t make the average christian upset, something is wrong with them for this mockery.
Alonzo, I just saw that clip about the dog and “whoooo” he is stabbing people in the back with his backwards preaching…And on top of that, it really sounded like he was cussing at 6:40 seconds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fknk2MO0MyU&feature=PlayList&p=C408F2955FED5BE8&index=0&playnext=1
or maybe it just sounded that way because he can’t talk…
I never understood the throwing of the money on the altar/steps (many new churches don’t have altars anymore, sigh). It seemed like, one day, one church was doing it, then they all started to do it. I had a very edifying conversation with one of my church members and she said she had visited another church and actually walked out in disgust mid-service. So there’s hope. An attractive building may draw people in, but it won’t keep those who have on their full armor.
I wonder how that tradition even gets STARTED?! “Hey, I got this new idea: so, whenever I make a point, any point at all, I want you to throw cash at my feet. Not change; I don’t want the stuff that jingles. I want stuff that folds. Keep throwing it till I finish, and my goons–uh, deacons, I mean, will pick it up at the end of service. Don’t worry about where it’s going. Let’s just try it out for once!”
(MN: I suspect television had an awful lot to do with it. When you see Creflo and others doing it, as a layman, it seems like you should do the same thing with your mand of Gawd so you can get blessed too. And what pimp in his right mind would try to shut something like that down? )
When watching the video on this post, I got chills all over my body. They way everyone performed the same money-worshipping act, how they all moved in sync…it was actually very scary. What’s worse is that they think they’re completely justified in doing so. Ask and you shall receive. Whatever happened to God saying “no”? When did that become an impossibility?
ps, I think Christopher (above) is my brother. Christopher P, is that you? If so, ‘hello!’ If not, ‘hello!’
ap
AdamP, I believe it comes fromt eh butchering of Acts 4:35 where the people took what they owned, sold it and laid it at the feet of the apostles. What these thieves forget is that the True Apostles didn’t keep the money for themselves, but divided it amongst the people to make sure everyone had to live by. I also believe that they use it to justify their “blessing” of the givers as in vs 36. It sucks, because all one has to do is read most of the verses the pimp use to steal from them in their entirety and they will see that the words of the pimps is extra-biblical.
And please notice, the church is not some ramshackled storefront. It appears to be a building of some substance.
That is because these wolves know that “Money attracts money.”
Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, and practicing oppression and violence.” (Jeremiah 22:17) Watching them trample on the money was watching them trample on blood because to the poor especially, their little money is all they have to live on. So, it represents their lives being destroyed by these wolves. To take it by such deceit to gratify their naked covetousness is indeed oppression and violence.
To have them walk up and down upon it like Satan said he does upon the earth, let’s you know the deep darkness they walk in and whom they really serve.
To the rich who threw their money upon the steps in the hopes of even more, the action of those two men symbolizes how the judgment of God will trample them all one day except they repent of their evil.
May God grant them repentance unto the acknowledging of the truth. (2 Tim. 2:24)
You know Stan, when I looked at it, it was like they were playing like they were bathing in the money. It was a show off event. Sort of like a “nananananaa!!!!!!! I’m washing in the money”. Geez I can hear them singing it now.
Furthermore, what would have happened if someone else (you know the little people like me) would have jumped up there and started swooshing around in the loot? I probably would’ve been bumrushed by security….errr the armor bearers…..
Can anyone honestly look at this video and tell me our great Lord was a part of that?? Can anyone say that it edified their spirit? This makes me want to round up all those greedy, money hungry, shape shiftin, private jet ridin, non caring pimps and………………(You fill it in..and alot of words can go there..and they’re not pleasant!!!
The church is near where I live, and yes, Mr. Thompson is balling.. He has numerous cars, a Bentley, Harleys, and oddly enough, it’s in an area that’s not as near as wealthy as he..
I attended his church for 14 years, and was never happier until I left seven years ago. The congregation can be compared to the “kool aid” drinkers who followed Jim Jones and these pimps, equally compared to Jim Jones.
Wow! I have been following your site for some time Melvin (at least 4 years now) and I have seen some stuff, but this BY FAR is the MOST convincing footage that the Prosperity Gospel is based on everything (money) BUT the Gospel of Christ! It leaves its followers empty and with unfulfilled hope and baseless faith. Thank you for doing what you do. I may not understand everything you post but I cannot disagree with the Truth of the Gospel. Thank you Melvin and Ringo.
Watching that video hurts my heart.
Preachers like that give people false hope and lead people away from the True Christ of the Bible.
This is why so many people in the church are depressed, for they expect things God never promised.
Prosperity Gospel is nothing but a road that leads to destruction. People come to the altar for Christ to make them rich, not because they are a sinner and need a Savior.
Good comment, Jahnea.
Compare this “church service” to the ones held by John the Baptist, not in a megachurch building, but outside at the riverside. He called the multitudes coming to him a “brood of vipers.” He told them to bring forth fruit in keeping with repentance. They then asked what they should do then. He said “let him with two coats give to him with none and those with food do likewise.” (Luke 3)
The fruitful believer is a giver of the goods he already owns; he does not seek God to get goods he would like to get. According to Jesus, Paul, James and John, the poor brother or sister is to depend on the loving and faithful generosity of believers with means, not upon the empty promises of men who “lie in wait to deceive.”
Those who both tithe under compulsion to churches and give to false ministers have no means left to help the poor believer. Therefore, their cry enters the ear of the Lord in Heaven because no one is left to attend to their cry down here. Judgment. Just like John said, “the axe is laid to the root” of such trees as these. How will the people who enrich these wolves “flee the wrath to come?”
Thanks melvin for this site. Yes, we think that this has gone way too far and these false teachers are ripping people off and fullfilling bible prophesy. It is an evil time we are living in.
That “display” hurt my heart!!! What craziness!! My heart is hurt because SOO MANY people actually believe that all of that was of God!!!!! WOW!!! We need to wake up and cry out to our Lord on behalf of those folks. They are the worst kind of prisoner; the one that does not even know they are in prison!
I am no longer shocked, amazed, baffled, nor surprised when I see the likes of Leroy, Crefflo, Benny, and Kenneth doing what they do best; fool the foolish! Year after year after year, these guys go throughout the US and other countries to masses of people who are looking for, not God, but what these people have; nothing! When will these people realize that what these men are speaking amounts to falsehood and destruction? On top of this, they are paying for their own selves to be deceived by these “Snake Oil” salesmen. They continue to enable these liars to travel around the globe spreading these “Abominable” messages. You had better wake up to the message of [Jeremiah 7:8]!!!
I wanted to laugh but then I realized how many people in that church were believing that Creflo and Leroy have to walk on their money for them to receive a miracle and it made me sad.
I was hoping as I watched that clip that Jesus would walk in the church and punch both of those guys in the mouth.
It is truly sad what has happened to the black church. I am really starting to wonder when anyone step up to the plate and put a stop to this. I was hoping maybe Martin Luther King’s children would but they are running around with Eddie Long.
The black church is becoming a joke and cannot exist like this much longer. They have already lost most black men and much of the younger generation.
God help your people.
Hello, jay:
It ain’t jus the black church, brother. The wolves and the sheep are arranged in all colors: shapes and sizes, too.
However, I can understand your exasperation.
Here’s the thing though: you stay weak in Him, 2Cor 12:9, and don’t get angry, Eccl 7:9-yeah, I know, Jesus got angry at the moneychangers (John 2:15>)-but He had perfect control of said anger, right? You ( I ) don’t. But, be bold and keep speaking to the sheeple and “call-out” the pimps, 2Cor 4:13.
Peter.
/probably too much Bible
God Help us
I’m still trying to understand are you angry with your former pastor and church and want to take it out on any church bigger then a wal-mart?
(MN: And you may never figure it out. I’m not angry with the guy. I actually feel sorry for him. But I feel sorrier for the folks who are trapped in his church and churches like his.
Now how about you deal with the things being said rather than trying to defend the pimps, even if only sideways. )
It must be nice to make complete fools of people, basically tell them you are making fools of them, while they are holding a manual (the Bible) which tells them that you are lying to them, and they still support you. The baffoonery is nothing less than amazing. The sliding across the money on the stage (pulpit) is comical yet damning at the same time. Wow!
oh my, and you think that vid was bad, take a load of this….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLMw3_tkN2I
(MN: Got you covered. This was actually posted about a year or so ago. )
WOW!
My heart is saddened for these people that are being stolen from.
My heart fears for those preachers doing these things!
As preachers we are to teach the Word to the body of Christ.
These preachers will one day stand before almighty God.
I wanted to laugh as well–my hand flew up to my mouth involuntarily. My heart started beating a bit faster. I became disgusted especially when Creflo ran up to it. It’s so sad that people are taken away when they obviously are in pain of want, otherwise they would be able to see this for what it is–cultic. All of that hard-earned money going to these pimps who are forever preaching to the people about their shortcomings and how they are always in the way of “receiving their blessing” With Creflo its fear always. This “sermon” is his money maker because there’s no accountability for him–the people’s “fear” keeps them from a piece of that money! The people furiously buy his books and tapes that supposed to help them overcome that fear, and the pimps get richer. In this context it certainly is FILTHY LUCRE! But a time is coming and already is here for the likes of these cons!!!
I know this kind of stuff goes on in these mega churches, but I have never seen anything like THAT before. I am amazed that people actually think that type of carrying on is from God.
MN: Thank you for the reminder for why you do what you do. I happened across this video (first of two parts) of people that woke up to the prosperity gospel scam after 20 YEARS of sitting under Keith Butler in Detroit. The information brought forward would flip you out.
20 Years a WoF Slave
Melvin,
I’ve seen this video a few times now, and it never ceases to bring me close to tears. People are being imprisoned by this movement…and they seem to be in love with their chains.
(MN: But then, people love their sin, don’t they? )
Melvin - I am grateful for this blog. The video you tagged in this entry made me cry. I am so broken by the lies that are being promoted by these so-called ministers and the multitudes that are being led atray by it.
I was sucked into the WoF movement when I first became a Christian 10 years ago, and cannot believe I ever came to believe this was the pure gospel. Deception is only powerful because it is so subtle. But when you see it as graphically as this video displayed, you shake your head wondering how in the world you could have ever fallen for it!
I first learned of Leroy Thompson a few years ago. I happened to be turning the tv, when I saw Leroy Thompson “yelling” at his congregation. He was telling them that the only way you can get God’s attention was through money. I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I tell you, the people at that church was on his everyword.
He got to boasting about how he owns tons of land on his estate called Ponderosa and that he was blessed because he followed God’s direction on money. Two seconds later, folks were running to the steps throwing money beyond compare. One man personally put over a $3,000 in the “preacher’s” hand as an offering.
This man didn’t preach from the Bible, he was just talking pure nonsense. But when you say the words “how to get money” people become blindsided.
So sad this man has a large following of people who don’t take the time to read the Bible for themselves and learn the true word.
I feel the same way you feel Claudia,he makes no sense at all. Its all about money with this guy he comes up with his own stupid words. And what’s sad is people believe this. I really don’t feel sorry for some of them because most of them are greedy for money just like him, and all he’s doing is leading them to the door to hell. All these pulpit pimps need to be exposed on a larger platform for the word to see and hear. Until that happens life will keep going on for them.
(MN: But don’t forget - God can work in their hearts to turn them to Him. If He does, all is forgiven. If He doesn’t, there is the White Throne Judgment where they are rewarded for all of their wrong. BTW, even if they are exposed on a larger platform, life will likely continue to go on pleasantly for them. )
This video is both sad and sicking
.
Was this an out take from “Roll, Bounce”? LeRoy (Chi McBride) could skate pretty good for and old guy, and Creflo coming up (playing his rival) made it more compelling.. I need to find the Von Mason (Roll, Skate,.. Roll, Bounce)song to listen to it while I watch this again with the clip sound muted..Brilliant!! I think they where skating to make money, as evident… Hey benevolent dictator I see a new marketing scheme for the Temple….Lets open a skating rink!!! This was hilarious!!!
I have a serious question for all of you: Who in the He(ck) left the gate open?!!!
I have received a Prophecy from God………………………….
I received this message right after receiving my Holy Ghost Enema as prophesied by Benny Hinn’s wife.
Oh sha ba ka ta la la la!
2010 will be the year of overflow!
Oh sha ba ka ta la la la!
Oh sha ba ka ta la la la!
(MN: Around 00:15 for those of you who think he’s making this up. )
What’s up Kyle?
To be fair, she didn’t say that God said it-LOL!!! But to be real…she seems to have a rear fixation…Holy Ghost Enema? Butt Kisser? This is a mess!!!
And just when you think people have learned:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8gV_569qdE
I know this is probably old news but I found it just as sad,
My heart is breaking - with all that running around, he never uttered not one word from that Bible, which is obviously a prop. I am so finished with church…..
(MN: Wrong choice. His pimpery is not an indictment of the truth. Rather, the truth is an indictment of his pimpery. Never get the two confused. )
Melvin,
What’s going on? Hope all is well this new year. I must say, in all my years, I have NEVER seen anything like this video. That was a flat out total travesty…I don’t know what else to say…what a COMPLETE mess. Charlatanism at its finest…or should I say worse…What in the world is going on?
Pastor, good to hear from you. Every thing is going well. And as you can see, the site is still here. And it’s still more fun than a man should be allowed to have.
Oh my what a bunch of mess, sad, Jesus warned of this, but many seek man and not God’s word. Man can give information but God given revelation, Colossians 2:8.
It’s amazing how everyone expresses ’sadness’, hatred, and every sort of negative emotion about what they do- But the fact remains, kiddies- GOD LETS THEM. So what say you about your God?
(MN: I say exactly what Joseph says, for starters. I even say what God says about Abimilech. While they may mean it for evil [financial gain and not the feeding of the flock], God intends it for good. I say that if God chooses not to stop them, it is done for His glory and not for my whims.
Remember, mankind is sinful and wishes to act on his sinful nature. God, in His graciousness, limits that sinful behavior. I don’t have a problem with God “letting” them do what they do. Should I? )
