The Dukes of Hazzard Part 2

Posted by Melvin Jones on August 31st, 2005

You remember the Dukes. Lyle was the main speaker at the Men of Purpose conference at First Baptist a couple of months ago. Here’s the link for those of you who may not have seen it or may have forgotten about it.

I got an e-mail from this clown a couple of days ago and stumbled on it by accident. It fits in so well with the current theme on the site (selling to the saints ’cause they’re too dumb to know any better) so I decided to go ahead and post it. (more…)

And You Say I’m Crazy

Posted by Melvin Jones on August 30th, 2005

I’m getting a few more eyes out in the world. A couple of readers (Ayana and Deb) sent me this link: Long and another sent me the text. Pay attention while you read this and try to avoid coming to the conclusion that it’s just Satan coming against God’s anointed.

It fell in rather nicely with the mini-tirade I was on last week about Eddie Long and Cashflow.
The Atlanta Journal, an admittedly left-leaning news organization, did a spread on Eddie Long, bishop extraordinaire, and leader of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia Georgia.
Here are some excepts from the article: (more…)

Stay Away Stanley

Stanley

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Don’t worry, I’m not going to fuss about Charles Stanley. But since I have you here I would like to see if you can help me.

On October 27, 2005, in Prince Georges County Maryland, John K. Jenkins is going to be hosting a Pastors Symposium featuring Charles Stanley from Atlanta. I have always had a great deal of respect for Dr. Stanley. In fact, that is why I need your help. Dr. Stanley might be completely unaware of John’s shenanigans. At least I hope that is the case.

I am composing a letter to Dr. Stanley. The text of the letter is here.

Here’s where your help comes in. I can write a letter to warn the good doctor about John. And in all probability, it will get lost in the five thousand letters a day of noise that his “In Touch” post office box receives. The harried pre-readers aren’t going to take much notice of one religious crazy whining about an obscure pastor in Maryland. But if the rest of you (all seven of you) would write a letter warning Dr. Stanley about John, we may be able to keep him from making the huge mistake of tying his name to a man who denies some of the essentials of historic Christianity.

One of the processes John has been using to build up his church (his church, not Christ’s) and himself is to tie Big Dog names to his own. That apparently was the reason he became involved in the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship. Doing so gave him access to some of the Big Dogs like Morton and the rest. And it got his name out among them.

John is apparently doing all he can to make sure First Baptist Church of Glenarden is going to have a large enough group of members to support the $45 -50 million memorial he is building out in Kettering.

The Eddie and Cashflow Show

I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again: these people don’t care jack about you. They apparently care only for themselves and their own well being. But that is what Paul said in warning the church about the rebellious men and the deceivers (I prefer to call them pimps) who are out there. Eddie Long (aka “Eddie Wrong”) is doing whatever will draw the biggest crowd and fill his personal coffers the fastest. (more…)

Eddie and the Weasel

Posted by Melvin Jones on August 5th, 2005

I had kind of hoped Eddie Long would fail to give me anything to talk about. But I guess we are all destined to experience disappointments in life.

I got a an e-mail from a young lady in Atlanta. She said she had attended New Birth a couple of times with her friend and found it to be awful. She also asked if I was going to provide any additional information on Slickmeister Long. (more…)

The Members Are Trapped and Don’t Even Know It

Posted by Melvin Jones on August 5th, 2005

I just got a comment from a person who read one of the Cashflow Dollar postings. Their response is one of the reasons Cashflow, T. Dexter, Fred Price and other Word Faith Phonies (WFP for short) continue to prosper at the spiritual and financial expense of those who follow them. Read the following. (more…)

Why Should I Live A Holy Life?

Posted by Melvin Jones on August 4th, 2005

Trying to stay out of hell seems like a pretty sorry reason to stay away from sin. Not wanting God to drop the hammer on me doesn’t seem much better. At best, if the threat wasn’t there, I’d live like the rest of the heathen. What would be the reason to live holy if there was no hell for God to send me to?

Burning Lake

So tell me: Why should we live holy lives? Never mind what a holy life looks like. Why should we live one to begin with? And don’t use staying out of hell as a reason.

I will post your answers.

Jump Into the Pool

Posted by Melvin Jones on August 1st, 2005

It’s not too late to get into the betting pool for First Lady Trina.

Just to keep you up to date, she’s going to be speaking at Beulah Baptist Church in Washington DC.

It’s going to be at the 11:00 service so we know she’s not simply going to be talking to the women of the church. Why don’t you give the pastor at Beulah a call and ask him why he is having a woman preach to the congregation.

Their phone number is: (202) 396-5368. I would be interested in hearing what he or the staff says in it’s defense. I welcome your comments.

And remember, if you want to start you own pool, click here and download the betting sheet. The instructions on setting up the pool are on the sheet.
