About Me

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 29th, 2005

I am Melvin Jones, former member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden.

But you’ve known that since the site first went public.

I’ve decided to tell you a little more. This post will be out here for about a month. It’s a copy of an updated page called “About Me”. (more…)

God is Love - And Has a Way With Words

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 25th, 2005

Okay, here’s the thing. Some of you in the audience say I’m not loving. And I should be loving because God is love. I shouldn’t be judgmental of these people who preach a false doctrine. I should love them and pray for them.

And since I consider myself to be a man who at least tries to obey the Bible, I have decided to emulate God and say the same things He says. Since God is love, and God is perfect, then He only says loving things. So if I say the same things that God says, then I’m loving too. Right? (more…)

An Alien in a Strange Land

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 24th, 2005

“9 By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise…”

Every once in a while, I feel like this guy when I talk to the typical “evangelical” Christian. It’s as if I am an alien from the planet Farkwar using a completely unheard of language. (more…)

It May Be Sooner Than I Thought

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 21st, 2005

When this blog first started, I predicted that Trina Jenkins, the wife of John Jenkins, would probably be anointed…er…I mean appointed Co-pastor by the summer of 2006. However, with this, I think my time line may be way off by quite a bit. (more…)

It Gets Better and Better

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 20th, 2005

It just keeps getting better and better. I really appreciate this because, as I said in a previous post, John makes this so easy for me. I do a little trolling and the news just falls into my lap. And believe me ladies and gentlemen, this is news. I’m just sorry you only have a little less than a week to say anything about it. (more…)

Morton, Not Exactly the Salt of the Earth

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 17th, 2005

I will sit at the keyboard and warn you over and over again about the men and women you keep entrusting your souls and spiritual health to. I will continue to warn you that they don’t care about you. From their activities and the choices they seem only to care about themselves, their reputations (in the “bishopped” community) with each other, and their own glory. (more…)

Opinion, Opinion, Who Has an Opinion?

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 16th, 2005

Anonymous and I had an exchange last night. Here is a part of it:

Me: And of course, you always have the option of not reading the posts. So I’m not sure what the difficulty is of me putting the info out here. If I talk just to my friends and family, there is all the rest of you who don’t get to get the information.

Pimps in the Pulpit

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 10th, 2005

In case you’re wondering, this site came about in a two step process. I’ve discussed John Coleman and the work he is doing on the West Coast. He has a site I like a lot and was doing a weekly radio show on KBRT in Los Angeles. They later kicked him off the air because he kept naming names. Imagine that, getting upset because he actually tried to warn people about specific pimps. (more…)

Bynum, Profitess and Performer

Posted by Melvin Jones on April 3rd, 2005

I keep telling all of you who will listen, that the Band of Brothers and Sisters in the “Full Gospel” circles are out for themselves. They do and say what ever will lift them up. They don’t care about following Jesus Christ in spirit or in truth. They don’t give a rat’s tail of attention to the ESSENTIALS of the faith. Their only criteria for evaluating a religious personality is to see how much money they can bring in to the organization and how much the personality’s appearance will help their attendance. (more…)
